Ye Xi had arranged to meet Qiao Zhiyi, but she seemed less than enthusiastic.
"What's wrong?" Qiao Zhiyi sipped her coffee. "You invite me but don't speak, what's weighing so much on your mind?"
Ye Xi slumped over the table, looking utterly despondent. "A couple of days ago, I went to see Ah Gui to ask what his intentions were. He said he didn't need a car or a house. In the end, he took a necklace from me and considered the matter settled."
"A necklace?"
"Just the usual kind I wear with my outfits, worth just tens of thousands of yuan." Ye Xi looked at Qiao Zhiyi. "What do you think he meant by that?"
"Maybe for him, money really isn't attractive. He doesn't seem like someone who is short of cash."
"Then what else can I give besides a house, a car, and money?" Ye Xi was also frustrated.
These past few days, she had been thinking about this and it felt somewhat inappropriate, making her uneasy.
Qiao Zhiyi asked her, "What are you actually afraid of?"
"I'm not afraid."
