Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 Zhiwei is Your Wife

Bai Zhuzhu's face turned white, "Auntie, please let me explain."

Zhou Lin frowned, defending Bai Zhuzhu, "Mom, Zhuzhu is here to see Cheng Zhiwei."

He called Bai Zhuzhu as Zhuzhu and Cheng Zhiwei by her full name, which instantly set Lin Yu off.

"Get me a few bodyguards to watch over Zhiwei and prevent any Tom, Dick, or Harry from entering, they are dirty and pollute the air."

Wang Mei hurriedly nodded, "Yes, Madam, I will arrange it right away."

Bai Zhuzhu bit her lip hard, tears hanging in her eyes, as she ran out.

Zhou Lin instinctively wanted to chase after her but was sternly stopped by Lin Yu, "Stop right there."

Zhou Lin frowned, "I have things to attend to at the company, I'm leaving now."

Lin Yu pointed a finger, "Your wife is lying on that bed, and you still want to go to the company? Zhou Lin, do you even care about Zhiwei?"

"Mom."

"Wait outside for me."

Zhou Lin gave Cheng Zhiwei a deep look and left with big steps.

That look was full of mockery.

Lin Yu rushed to the bedside, heartbroken, and tenderly asked Cheng Zhiwei about her well-being, "That little bastard actually dared to lay hands on you. Don't worry, I will teach him a lesson."

Lay hands on her?

Cheng Zhiwei was momentarily puzzled but didn't think too much of it. After all, she was not feeling well and didn't have the energy to ponder what Lin Yu had said, and simply whispered, "I'm fine."

"I know it all; it's Zhou Lin who is to blame." Lin Yu patted Cheng Zhiwei's shoulder, "You just focus on recovering, I'll handle the rest."

"Mom, Zhou Lin and I…" Cheng Zhiwei wanted to say they were preparing for divorce.

But then she thought that since it wasn't settled yet, it might be better to keep it to herself for now to avoid Lin Yu's interference.

"You don't need to worry about Zhou Lin and me," Cheng Zhiwei said.

Outside, Lin Yu's face was grave as she said, "I heard you laid hands on Zhiwei?"

"Laid hands?" Zhou Lin thought he had heard wrong. When had he ever laid hands on Cheng Zhiwei?

"Weren't her injuries caused by you?"

"No." Zhou Lin's complexion wasn't good.

Cheng Zhiwei actually complained to his mother that he had laid hands on her?

A woman full of lies.

"You will stay in the hospital for a while and take care of Zhiwei," Lin Yu ordered.

Zhou Lin frowned, "There is a lot to do at the company; I don't have time to stay with her."

Lin Yu said irritably, "Zhiwei is your wife."

"She should have known when she married me that being the Young Madam of the Zhou Family isn't an easy role," Zhou Lin remarked, then glanced at the time, "I have things to do at the company, I need to leave."

After speaking, he left straight away.

Zhou Lin went downstairs and made a call to his assistant. "Look into how Cheng Zhiwei got her injuries."

She dared to smear his name with accusations of domestic violence, her boldness was indeed growing.

Bai Zhuzhu had been standing next to Zhou Lin's car all this time, and as he approached, she quickly took a few steps forward, asking with concern, "Did Auntie give you a hard time? I'm sorry, it's my fault."

"I'll take you back." Zhou Lin was in a bad mood, and he didn't want to talk about this matter any longer. Once he threw the evidence in Cheng Zhiwei's face, he'd see if she still had the gall to lie.

Bai Zhuzhu got into the car and saw that his mood was very low, so she didn't dare to speak anymore.

Cheng Zhiwei had fainted because of rage, but now that she was awake and her wounds had been properly treated, she asked to go home. Lin Yu wouldn't agree, and personally made sure she stayed in the hospital for a week, until she was certain there was no issue before letting her go home.

During this period, Zhou Lin hadn't shown his face, and Lin Yu was dissatisfied. Yet, she didn't mention any of it in front of Cheng Zhiwei, choosing instead to have someone investigate Bai Zhuzhu's background.

Cheng Zhiwei also had Wang Mei take advantage of this week to throw away everything in the master bedroom and have it completely renovated and cleaned.

Back at Sparkling Sky City, after Cheng Zhiwei went upstairs to rest, Lin Yu went downstairs to find Wang Mei, "When was the master bedroom renovated?"

Wang Mei glanced upstairs and whispered, "It was the Young Madam's orders, after that woman came. It must've been because the Young Madam encountered something. Although the Young Master has rarely returned over the past three years and the Young Madam has always been quiet without making a fuss, this is the first time she's burst into such a rage."

She sighed, not continuing further.

Lin Yu naturally understood and, with a stern face, instructed Wang Mei, "Have someone clean up; I'm going to stay here for a few days."

If she didn't teach her foolish son a lesson, she was going to lose her precious daughter-in-law.

Wang Mei was thrilled to hear this and hurriedly ordered people to tidy and clean the rooms.

Lin Yu personally called Zhou Lin to come back for dinner and announced at the dining table her decision to stay for a while, requiring Zhou Lin to come back for dinner after work every day and to properly take care of Cheng Zhiwei.

Zhou Lin's face was stern, and he remained silent. He wouldn't embarrass Lin Yu to her face, but naturally blamed Cheng Zhiwei for this, prematurely assuming it was her idea to have his mother stay here.

He said right away, "The company has a lot of matters..."

"Are you saying the company can't operate without you? Or are all the people below you useless, needing your personal involvement for everything?" Lin Yu warned Zhou Lin discontentedly, "Once Zhiwei's health is better, I'll leave. If you dare to bully Zhiwei, I'll send that shameless woman abroad. Don't think I don't know who she is."

Lin Yu had already found out about Bai Zhuzhu's identity.

Zhou Lin clenched his chopsticks, his expression completely darkening, and spoke tersely, "Mom."

Lin Yu looked at Zhou Lin with a complex expression, her tone icy, "You know my personality—I mean what I say."

"I've never liked her," Zhou Lin took a deep breath, holding back his temper and anger, his voice deep and displeased, "Why must you all force me."

"Shut your mouth." Lin Yu, angered, slammed down her chopsticks and plates, her chest heaving violently, "Remember this, in my lifetime, I will only acknowledge Zhiwei as my daughter-in-law. If you keep in touch with those women outside, don't blame me for taking action."

Having said that, she headed straight to the living room.

Zhou Lin sat silently looking at the half-finished dishes on the table, feeling extremely stifled. It was clear that it was Cheng Zhiwei who had taken advantage of his drunkenness to climb into his bed, ruthlessly tearing him apart from the person he loved. Why, in his mother's eyes, was Cheng Zhiwei the one who had been so deeply wronged?

At that moment, Wang Mei came out with a bowl of chicken soup and placed it in front of Zhou Lin.

Wang Mei was an excellent cook, and the chicken soup smelled delicious. Zhou Lin, frustrated and annoyed, had no appetite for food, so he picked up the chicken soup and drank it all in one gulp.

Wang Mei paused, then went to the kitchen to get another bowl, but before setting it down, she said, "The Madam instructed that you should personally bring this chicken soup to the Young Madam's room. If you'd like more, there's still some hot soup left."

Zhou Lin's eyes narrowed as the flavors of the delicious chicken soup rolled around on his tongue, becoming instantly tasteless and even repulsive.

However, with Lin Yu here now, Zhou Lin could only obey.

No lights were on in the room, in front of the large floor-to-ceiling window, the curtains were open, and the sunlight hurriedly spilled onto the floor. In the scorching heat of August, it should have been a time of brilliant sunshine, yet because of the air conditioning's temperature, the room felt slightly cold.
