Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Fu Shiyan Protects An Yan

Hearing the noise, An Yan's eyes snapped open.

Seeing the unwelcome duo, her expression instantly darkened.

An Yirou's voice was weak, "Sister, are you feeling alright?"

An Yan sat up, her red lips curling up, "Thanks to you two, I nearly turned into a pile of ashes." Ignoring their sarcastic remark, Fu Chenyu was both surprised and dazzled by An Yan's bare face.

Gone was her usual nauseatingly haughty demeanor; she now resembled a cold, solitary red rose, possessing a kind of otherworldly beauty.

He frowned and asked, "You... are An Yan?"

An Yan let out a snort, "Young Master Fu, wipe your mouth."

Fu Chenyu didn't understand, but he obediently lifted his hand and wiped his mouth.

An Yan raised an eyebrow and laughed mockingly, "Seeing my beauty, you're drooling."

Fu Chenyu turned red with anger, "Who do you think you are? You're not even a fraction of Yirou! Even though Yirou is concerned about you and wanted to see how you are doing, you're just being ungrateful—like a dog that bites Lv Dongbin without recognizing the good person's heart!"

"Concerned?" An Yan's lips curved with scorn, "Fully aware that my fiancé abandoned me, yet you bring him here to gloat, is that concern? It's clearly showing off and provocation."

"You!" Fu Chenyu did not expect An Yan to be so sharp-tongued.

"What 'you'? Make sure to close the door on your way out!" An Yan had no desire to waste words with them and issued them an eviction order.

Instead of leaving, An Yirou picked up a cup of cooled water from the table, "Sister, I know you're angry with me, so I would like to use this water as a substitute for wine to ask for your forgiveness."

She hurriedly brought it over, insisting on pressing it into An Yan's hand.

An Yan narrowed her eyes, well aware of what An Yirou was up to, and she dodged.

The next second, An Yirou let out a cry and splashed the water in the cup over herself, falling backward.

Fu Chenyu quickly stepped forward to catch An Yirou and took a step back, his eyes livid, "An Yan, you've gone too far!"

"As long as it eases my sister's anger, I would even accept scalding hot water being thrown at me," An Yirou said weakly, looking pitiful like a delicate little flower.

An Yan got out of bed, shuffling in her slippers to the table, and poured a cup of lukewarm water. She turned to An Yirou, the corner of her lip rising into a crafty smile, "Since you're so sincere, I'll satisfy you!"

An Yan suddenly splashed the water onto An Yirou's face.

An Yirou instinctively tried to evade it, but the water still hit her cheeks to some extent.

She cried out in pain, "It's burning, my face! It hurts, hurts so much..."

She never expected An Yan to act; after all, no matter how much she had provoked her in the past, An Yan had never lost her temper. What was different today?

How could she be so cruel!

Fu Chenyu strode forward, raising his hand as if to slap An Yan's cheek.

Before his fingertips could touch her, his wrist was seized by a strong force and twisted harshly backward.

"Damn it! Let go! You're about to break my hand!"

An Yan did not stop, instead, she kicked at the man's knee.

Fu Chenyu's face instantly turned ashen, veins popping on his forehead, "You!"

An Yan's cold gaze fixed on the two, "If you don't want to suffer more, get out!"

Just then, the hospital room door opened and Shiyan walked in with a food container in hand.

Seeing this, An Yan suddenly collapsed weakly backward.

Shiyan lunged forward, catching her in his arms.

An Yan took the opportunity to wrap her arms around the man's lean waist, her eyes reddening, "Younger Uncle..."

Shiyan looked at the girl's delicate and fair face, was momentarily stunned, and had to admit she was more beautiful than any real person could be.

Beyond his amazement, he recognized the look in An Yan's eyes and immediately understood that she had been bullied by Fu Chenyu and An Yirou.

A low pressure enveloped the entire room, and his sharp gaze swept over them as he asked in a cold voice, "What have you done?"

Chenyu was dumbfounded, and he pointed at An Yan, "It was clearly her!"

The thought of admitting that a woman had hit him was simply too embarrassing.

He rubbed his knee, glaring at An Yan with resentment, "Younger Uncle, don't be fooled by this woman! She's just too good at pretending!"

"At a critical moment, you abandon her, and now you bring a mistress to provoke her, and you even hit her!" Shiyan's handsome face darkened, and his eyes turned cold, "Is this how the Fu Family taught you?" He gently patted An Yan's back, and An Yan let go of him, receiving the food container from Shiyan's hand.

Fu Chenyu looked at Shiyan incredulously, "Younger Uncle, I'm your nephew! And yet you're protecting that woman!"

Shiyan looked at him with a cold gaze, "I'm just telling it as it is!"

Although she was labeled as a mistress, An Yirou was angry inside; but seeing the tense atmosphere, she quickly stepped in front of Chenyu, with tears streaming down her face, "Younger Uncle, it's all my fault! My sister was unhappy to see me and splashed boiling water on my face. Chenyu couldn't stand it, so he spoke harshly to my sister for a few sentences." An Yan had to admire An Yirou's ability to steer clear of the heavy issues, shifting the blame onto her in just a few words, while not mentioning her own role as the instigator.

Hearing this, Shiyan turned to look at An Yan; her lips tightly pressed, tears instantly filled her eyes, looking especially aggrieved.

He turned his attention to An Yirou, unable to hide the dislike in his eyes, "If you know that you annoy her, then do not appear before her again!"

An Yirou said this only to portray An Yan as a shrew when she got angry.

She hadn't expected Shiyan to speak in favor of An Yan, and she was so angry she almost cracked her silver teeth. She pressed her lips together, begrudgingly whispered "I understand," then prepared to leave, supporting Chenyu.

"Apologize!" came the icily demanding voice from Shiyan.

Chenyu and An Yirou were so angry they almost couldn't catch their breath.

Chenyu wanted to explain, but looking into the man's stern eyes, he knew any excuses were futile.

He said resentfully, "I'm sorry!"

"Apologize again!" Shiyan said indifferently.

Chenyu suppressed the anger in his chest, and his tone softened somewhat, "I'm sorry."

An Yirou also apologized.

Chenyu glared fiercely at An Yan, snorted coldly, and with An Yirou's support limped away.

Shiyan watched Chenyu's limping figure, somewhat puzzled.

An Yan, seeing the confusion, sniffled, "When he kicked me the first time, I dodged, so he ended up kicking the bed frame."

The first kick?

It appears that Chenyu had kicked twice.

He asked, "Do you need a doctor?"

An Yan shook her head, "There's no need to trouble you, thank you, Younger Uncle."

"You're welcome." Shiyan glanced at his watch, "Eat and rest early after dinner; Chenyu won't come tonight. Han Yang will come to stay with you later tonight; if you need anything, just tell him."

An Yan understood the man's meaning and readily agreed, "You have things to do, Younger Uncle, you can go ahead." Shiyan nodded, "Rest assured, I won't let you suffer in vain or take a beating like this."

Suffering was one thing, a beating?

An Yan stifled a laugh internally – Younger Uncle's imagination was quite vivid.

She nodded obediently.

At that moment, the hospital room door opened, and a young nurse walked in with a shy smile, "Mr. Fu, I heard you were in this ward, and I came specially to apply your medicine."

An Yan clicked her tongue in her mind – wasn't this an obvious attempt to flirt with Shiyan?

This really won't do.

An Yan walked over and took the tray from the nurse's hand, with a smile, "I'll apply the medicine for Younger Uncle, please close the door when you leave, thank you."

"But, do you know how?" The nurse tried to insist.

An Yan nodded, "Clean the wound, disinfect, apply ointment, dress it, I know how. Come back later to get the tray."
