That night, Fu Jinqiao and An Yan talked until past midnight, leading to An Yan waking up at eight-thirty the next morning.
She didn't see Fu Jinqiao around and called out a couple of times. When no one replied, she sat up and grabbed her cell phone to check for any messages. There were texts from Fu Shiyan and Fu Jinqiao.
She opened Fu Jinqiao's message: [Younger Auntie, saw you were still asleep, so I didn't wake you. The candy store said they got two new types of candies, I'm going to check them out.]
An Yan noted that the message was sent at eight, which was half an hour ago.
She figured it would be about ten more minutes before Fu Jinqiao would arrive at the candy store, so she decided to wait until after she washed up to call her.
Then she checked Fu Shiyan's messages.
[Woke up yet? I couldn't sleep at all tonight.]
[Breakfast is already made; I prepared shrimp porridge.]
