Su Nanxing answered the phone.
Lu Beiyuan immediately spoke up, "Xingxing, have you all finished eating?"
"We have," Su Nanxing said. "We're on our way back."
"I was thinking of picking you up."
"No need," Su Nanxing replied. "We'll be home soon."
"I'm almost there as well," Lu Beiyuan said.
Su Nanxing had thought he was already home: "Have you been at the office until now? Did you eat?"
"No..." Lu Beiyuan sighed. "I'll talk to you about it when I get back."
Lu Beiyuan arrived home first, and he didn't go in, waiting outside instead.
A few minutes later, Tang Ruoqing's car drove up.
Tang Ruoqing didn't get out of the car but leaned over and greeted Lu Beiyuan from the passenger's seat.
It was only after Tang Ruoqing's car had driven off that Lu Beiyuan reached out, drew Su Nanxing into his embrace, and took a deep breath of her scent, finally feeling comforted.
Enveloped in his arms, Su Nanxing detected a strange scent.
