Chapter 15 - 015. Unremembered

Unremembered

Li Aozi had a comfortable night's sleep. He wasn't one to dawdle, and got up at six o'clock. Just as he was about to continue planning his upgrade route, the door to the isolation ward was suddenly kicked open. He looked up to see Nurse Nordri's gloomy face.

"Recovered quickly." Li Aozi glanced at her and commented lightly.

"You're no longer in poor health, come exercise." Before Nordri finished speaking, Li Aozi immediately jumped out of bed, dragging his restraint suit casually as he walked over.

Nordri was somewhat surprised; she hadn't explained anything yet.

'Could it be that a level five infected is no different from an ordinary person when not going crazy? The difference between this and level three or four infected is too great...'

"What do we need to do?"

Li Aozi didn't think much about it and asked casually, interrupting Nordri's thoughts.

"Follow me."

She said sullenly, leading Li Aozi to the training ground almost as if escorting a prisoner.

Li Aozi observed the surrounding environment with great interest and silently memorized the layout. His isolation ward was at the deepest part of the first floor, and along the way, he could see various sections and departments of the shelter.

As soon as they left the isolation ward area, the number of people increased. Various patients in hospital gowns walked back and forth. Li Aozi's gaze swept over their figures, and he clearly noticed that this batch of patients had a high degree of freedom, with some missing and deformed body parts.

Even though he wasn't in combat mode, his keen eyesight allowed him to judge that these seemingly harmless deformed and disabled patients had at least level 10 to 15 strength. Some were agile and strong, and could even keenly sense Li Aozi's scrutiny.

[No wonder people said this mission was hard to speedrun in the previous life... Even the patients here have such high average levels, which is quite difficult for players in the first two versions.]

Li Aozi recalled that the level cap for players in version 1.0 was 30, and in version 2.0, it was 60. One could imagine how frustrated players felt when encountering this mission at the beginning of the open beta.

They couldn't escape, and couldn't even beat the patients here, so they had to obediently cooperate with experiments and complete tasks.

"Don't look around." Nordri snorted coldly. "They are patients who have basically achieved self-suppression of Esha. Whether in physical fitness or combat power, they are stronger than you people from the four nations."

"Oh."

Li Aozi responded casually, then pointed to several cells adjacent to the isolation ward:

"Do you also detain prisoners here?"

"None of your business."

"I'm also a patient, not more dangerous than prisoners, right?" Li Aozi shrugged. "I think room ZX-102 is quite nice. Can I move there?"

"No."

"Why not? ZX-101 is also fine. Both locations are good, with a view of the cafeteria—"

Bang!

Before Li Aozi finished speaking, a sonic boom erupted in his ear, causing ringing and faint pain in his eardrums. He turned to look at Nordri, a fierce glint flashing in her grey eyes, before she put on an innocent smile.

He raised his hand, showing confusion and apology towards Nordri, who still had a hot aura around her fist:

"Sorry, I just arrived and inadvertently offended you."

"Good that you know." Nordri raised her strong arm, her voice slow and low. Seeing Li Aozi's attitude, her eyes flashed fiercely: "Don't mention it in front of me again. Next time—"

Snap!

She grabbed at the air forcefully, causing a loud explosion-like sound to echo in the corridor.

The strong wind blew Li Aozi's messy black hair apart. He lowered his head slightly, his face originally full of apology now showing a smile instead of anger.

Although Li Aozi didn't care about threats from the weak, the series of information flowing on his retina made him very happy.

[You have triggered the mission – Unremembered]

[Type]: Investigation

[Duration]: Long-term

[Difficulty]: S

[Description]:

Some histories should not be buried, some people should not be forgotten.

By chance, you were captured by the Abyssal Humanitarian Rescue Organization. Inspired by the professor, you are determined to make a great contribution to the future of humanity.

But is that really the case?

They see you as a 'turning point,' but you know best what happened to you.

In this cold and desolate outside world, is there really anyone willing to risk their life to save others?

It seems you were recruited, but no one truly respects you. Your personal freedom is restricted.

The disabled patients seem aggressive, their combat power even surpassing professional soldiers.

There also seem to be some internal divisions within the organization. People's hearts are unpredictable, and things may not go in a good direction.

You don't care about the continuation of humanity, nor about their internal struggles, but you know, life is precious, love is even more so, and for the sake of freedom, both can be given up.

To survive and find the true answer is the only solution.

[Progress]: 0.00%

[Settlement Conditions]:

1: Investigation progress not less than 30% (mandatory)

2: Leave the Abyssal Organization (optional, choosing this action will additionally increase investigation progress by 10%)

[Mission Rewards]: Corresponding rewards will be given based on investigation progress.

[Special Note]: This mission is regarded as a mainline mission, effective long-term.

-------------------------------------

"Rewards... let me see, wow, no wonder it's regarded as a mainline mission. If the investigation progress reaches 60%, you can get 1 million experience points."

Li Aozi raised an eyebrow. One million experience points were enough to level a [Mutant] to 20.

One benefit of the Dominion series is that it doesn't require much experience in the early stages and has low equipment demands. Most of the time is spent mastering and developing Aoneng, which requires not experience, but personal technical accumulation and professional knowledge.

Experience can be used to learn professional knowledge. For different Aoneng, a [Mutant] needs to learn different knowledge. For example, if someone's Aoneng is [Flame Control], they must learn [Fuel Science], [Basic Chemistry], [Plasma Science], [Basic Thermodynamics], [Law of Conservation of Mass], and other knowledge.

These things are what consume a lot of experience.

The specific professional knowledge Li Aozi needs is not easy to find, as they are monopolized by the Global Trade Bank and the four nations, making them inaccessible in the outside world.

However, he doesn't need that much experience for now.

If the situation becomes urgent and he has to leave early—Li Aozi glanced at the settlement conditions. As long as he completes 20% progress and then finds a way to escape from Abyssal, he can get 100,000 experience points according to the minimum settlement conditions.

Then, he can level up in the outside world by killing monsters. Li Aozi estimated that it wouldn't take long to reach level 10.

He could complete Unremembered in one go and also get [Mutant], giving him many choices.

He glanced at room ZX-102; it was one of the secrets.

"Regarding the details of the Unremembered mission, I'm not very clear. I haven't seen any relevant explanations or analyses about the Abyssal organization's stance."

Li Aozi was a player from the Red Arrow Empire in his previous life and couldn't recall the specific missions related to Frost Plating. He only knew that Abyssal Humanitarian could unlock a very powerful specialty. As for what happened to Abyssal Humanitarian or its internal divisions, he was unaware.

However, one thing is certain, the organization heads towards destruction in version 1.7.1, so actually, he has plenty of time.

Li Aozi decided not to think about it further. Nordri had already brought him to the training ground, so he decided to train obediently for a while.

The training ground wasn't special, with horizontal bars, parallel bars, a football field, and a 200-meter track. The grass had been worn away, leaving only a bare patch of asphalt. Several security members were exercising nearby. They were muscular and burly, occasionally exuding a terrifying aura—clearly [Warriors].

"Let's do it here to avoid disturbing Johnny and the others."

Head Nurse Nordri decided on the spot, then turned to Li Aozi and said:

"Go, run ten kilometers first."
