Jiang Yun and Fu Yu, the mother and daughter, were so overwhelmed with their own issues that they couldn't take care of Fu Shuqin in the hospital.
After coming out of the operating room, Fu Shuqin was paralyzed and bedridden, unable to move. The caregiver initially hired to look after her had long since run away, leaving her to lie alone on the hospital bed.
The service in the ordinary ward couldn't compare to that of the premium wards; no one brought her water when she was thirsty, nor did anyone help her with a bedpan when she needed the toilet, forcing her to soil the bed.
Lying in her own filth day after day, she smelled foul, a stark contrast to the elegant and clean old lady she used to be.
This extreme neglect made it impossible for Fu Shuqin to cope; she hardly lasted two days before calling Jiang Yun.
But Jiang Yun wouldn't answer her calls.
As if that weren't enough, the hospital was also pressing her to continue paying the medical bills.
