Sang Qian turned her head to look at Ji Chengzhou. The man's expression was somber; his feelings were unreadable. "If I say that there's nothing between Lu Ci'an and me, would you believe me?"
"What do you think?"
"I think you don't believe me."
"At least you're self-aware."
It wasn't that she was self-aware, but if she put herself in his shoes— if another woman had risked her all to save Ji Chengzhou, and that woman was his ex-girlfriend, she too would believe there were still feelings between them.
However, she wasn't the real Sang Qian; she truly had no feelings for Lu Ci'an. Ironically, this was the one reason she couldn't disclose, and it was driving her crazy.
Sang Qian sighed, "What would it take for you to believe me?"
"I gave you a chance."
Sang Qian was momentarily stunned as she realized something. "You already knew when you asked me if my work went smoothly today?"
Ji Chengzhou neither confirmed nor denied.
