Chapter 2 - Kill the Boar

'How could a boar be this big? I should be able to kill it, right?' James looked at the boar and thought for a while because he had already noticed that his body was many times stronger than that of a normal adult.

He also had the sword that was left behind on the table, and after testing it, he was surprised because the sword was sharp and he could not even leave a scratch or a small dent even after using it to hit a solid rock a couple times. He did this before he decided to search further into the forest, as he needed to know about the sword's sharpness and durability before hunting.

After some thought, James determined to kill the boar because it was the first animal he found, and it was not because the boar pissed him off by lying on its back, acting cutely while scratching its tusk on a tree. It definitely was not.

'Damn, how dare you act cute here while my lovely little princess is starving in the cave!'

James couldn't resist the urge to kill the boar, roast it to perfection, and give his little sister a taste of it.

Thinking about it made James drool unknowingly, and he immediately planned his strategy to kill the boar while silently approaching it.

Perhaps after sensing danger, the boar stood up, looked around, and its eyes looked in James's direction and snorted, its gaze fixed on his every move.

Seeing the wild boar notice his presence, James decided to make the first move. He thought that with its big body, this would be an easy kill as long as he could dodge and tire it while inflicting wounds slowly. And as time goes on, it will die naturally.

With a swift motion, James unsheathed his sword, the blade glinting in the dappled sunlight filtering through the trees.

Looking at James's sudden movement rushing towards it, the boar's front hooves plucked a few times on the ground, turning the soil out.

Soon afterward, the big boar suddenly ran so fast that it caught James off guard.

The big boar charged in a straight line, and the ground trampled by it was full of potholes.

James was surprised by the boar's speed because it was so fast, even at this rate, he couldn't dodge.

'Fuck, how could I make such a big blunder and think that it was just a normal wild boar?' James cursed in his heart.

Even though he knew that a normal wild boar was fast, he could still handle it easily because he felt that his body was many times stronger than that of a normal adult.

That was why he decided to make the first move, thinking that it was just a normal, big wild boar.

Seeing that the boar's speed was even slightly faster than his, James knew he couldn't fully dodge. If he tried to dodge to the side, his arm would be broken because of the direct hit, and if he was hit directly by the boar, even if he didn't die, several bones would be broken for sure.

Thinking quickly for a split second, James decided to block the boar's attack with the sword using both hands, one on the hilt and the other on the blade.

"Clang!"

The clash of metal against tusks was reverberating in the air. James bounced back from the impact and hit the tree behind him, leaving a small dent in it.

"Boom!"

Feeling a slight crack in the bones of his back and left arm, James gritted his teeth.

The boar didn't let him catch his breath and charged again.

Seeing the boar charging towards him again, James immediately jumped and dodged to the right side while swinging his sword, aiming for its neck.

"Swoosh!"

James swung his sword with all his might, simultaneously dodging the boar's powerful attacks.

The blade pierced through the boar's defense and sliced its neck. Unfortunately, it didn't immediately kill the boar, though it did leave a deep gash from which blood started to spill over.

After James dodged to the side, the boar missed its target and collided with a tree.

"Boom!"

As the boar rammed his tusks into the tree, several leaves started to fall from it, indicating that the impact was significant because, from the impact, it even left a big dent.

The boar felt dizzy and shook its head.

James realized that this was his only chance to kill it. So, he immediately dashed to the boar, swung his sword using both hands, and with every ounce of strength in his body, he was determined to kill this boar.

"Ha!"

James exclaimed, striking out with his sword, aiming towards the previous gash.

The blade instantly sliced through the gash, and finally beheading the boar completely.

"Squeal!"

The wild boar let out a piercing scream before his head completely separated from its body while collapsing to the ground with a heavy thud.

The forest fell silent as the boar collapsed and died.

But victory came at a price. James sank to his knees, gripping his left hand, his breath coming in ragged gasps. He laughed weakly, with a mixture of relief and pain.

"Ha... Ha... I did it," James spoke softly, his voice strained. As he tried to stand, he felt a searing pain in his left arm and his back.

He felt that the bones on his left hand and his back were slightly fractured.

When he was blocking the boar's charge, he thought that it would be better to sacrifice his left hand, as he was right-handed and it would have been a disaster if his right hand was injured.

That was why, when he was about to get hit, he dodged to the right side and let the hit focus on the left hand rather than both hands.

However, he didn't expect that his back would be hurt in the process, thankfully the injury wasn't as serious as his left hand.

Despite his injury, James couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and accomplishment.

But after thinking about it for a while, he was reckless, and his recklessness almost cost his life.

"Anyway, what's done is done." James murmured to himself and decided to skin the boar swiftly.

He sliced the boar's body into halves, taking only half because its body was big and quite heavy, and he could only use his right hand.

So, he only took half of its body as he wrapped it in the boar's skin and carried it on his back. Leaving behind the skull and the other half.

With a weary smile, James quickly began his journey back home, afraid that the fight and smell of blood would attract another unknown beast, as he was already worn out and unable to fight anymore.

While on the way back, he kept thinking how fortunate he was, because if he hadn't bounced back from the collision with the boar and slammed to the tree, simultaneously dodging the boar's charge afterward, the boar wouldn't be that dizzy.

Though the lost blood from the gash that he made should help with the dizziness and help him with the last strike to behead it completely.

James learned a lot from this experience. First and foremost, he should be in a world where creatures begin to evolve, and there should be a lot more animals that are more dangerous than the wild boar, and he felt that the boar was not that strong compared to the others that have yet to be found. He didn't know why, he just felt it.

And he should have heeded the warning of the hazy figure in his memory that the outside world was dangerous.

But the problem was that there was not even a single food in the cave, so he had to go outside to find something edible. As well, considering the fact that he didn't know which plant could be eaten, he didn't dare try eating any of these plants because he was afraid he'd be poisoned or something, so hunting was his only option.

He also didn't know until when he should wait to turn 18 years old in this body, as well as what would happen when the time came, though he already thought, 'I should awaken some talent or something that will help me and my little sister, right?'

Considering the hazy figure said that he was 'Only venturing out into the outside world after he turned 18 years old.'

So he thought that there would be something happening when he turned 18 years old.

Maybe he would awaken something like talent or whatever, but he didn't want to leave his fate to wait for an unknown amount of time while starving in the cave.

Though, hypothetically, they could survive with no food and only drinking water for more than a month.

But, what if he needs more time than that to turn 18 years old? At that time, it would be too late to hunt animals because his body would be weakened to the point he probably would be even weaker than a teenager, and he would be dead, being killed by a beast before he even knew it.

The most important thing was that he didn't want his little sister to experience being starved for a long time, so he could only risk it by finding any edible plant that he knew or hunting an animal.
