Chapter 8 - The First Task

After hearing the voice in his head, Jack immediately understood what it was. With his experience of reading a few comic books, he knew about the existence of systems. He suppressed his urge to shout out loud but couldn't help but laugh.

"Hahaha, I knew it, I knew it. How could I be an ordinary person? All these natives deserve to be trampled under my feet. I am the true king of this world."

This was just his thinking. He didn't know how deep the waters were here. The mere existence of God was enough to crush all his dreams.

In reality, it wasn't about this world or another world. He was in the same universe as his Earth. It's just that the Earth he was on was very far from this place, but it wasn't a problem. God could capture his soul and bring him to this Earth without any difficulty.

The system felt extremely annoyed hearing him talk nonsense. He was a proper conscious being. Suddenly being dragged here to work naturally made him feel quite uncomfortable, especially since the person he was supposed to help was this idiot.

As for his identity, he is another powerful entity in the universe. Also, someone who has a full-time job and is suddenly "hired" by God to work here.

Of course, doing so was also free. At his level, he had no chance of becoming stronger. Furthermore, although there was no real boss, God was a higher existence than him. That was why he accepted this job.

The job was very simple: before Alex became the emperor, make sure he didn't die. As long as Alex wasn't excessively foolish, he would keep saving him.

Of course, the energy was provided by God because this powerful being had no way to help others become stronger in this situation.

Here, it was about finding a quick way to become strong, while basic education was provided to everyone by God.

He had no intention of opposing God. As soon as he met God, he understood who the person in front of him was.

Besides, he lacked nothing except lifespan, so spending a little time here wasn't a problem for him.

[Does the host want to receive the newbie gift package?]

Quite annoyed as he was, he was a responsible person. Having accepted the job, he was determined to complete it. If he couldn't do it, he would compensate appropriately.

Jack heard the system's voice and laughed foolishly, nodding as he spoke:

"Open, open it for me."

[Ding, congratulations to the host for obtaining martial soul evolution. Evolving earthworm martial soul to golden dragon.]

Jack felt a pleasant sensation in his body, urging him to summon his martial soul.

When he summoned it, it was still a small earthworm, but the earthworm emitted a shimmering golden light.

The light grew stronger, and the worm's body began to change at a visible speed.

From a tiny worm in his palm, his martial soul quickly grew larger.

Within seconds, it had transformed into a golden dragon. It was an eastern dragon with a golden hue, exuding an exceptionally regal aura.

Seeing the majestic dragon paired with its weak master, the system cursed inwardly:

"Why simulate the ancient form of my race for such a weakling? He doesn't even understand that the initial form of a martial soul doesn't matter. The strength of a martial soul depends on the power of its owner. A strong person's martial soul may start as a mere clod of dirt but will eventually become a black hole."

However, these were just his feelings. How Jack used the martial soul was his own business. After all, this was only a simulation of his race ancient form, not a real one.

After Jack completed the martial soul evolution, a new notification sounded.

[Received reward: level up by one stage. Current level: Awakening Stage 1.]

A surge of power flowed into Jack's body, making him feel as if he were floating on cloud nine. The euphoric feeling was so addictive that he didn't want to let go.

A gray ring emerged from within his body, looking like it lacked any energy.

Since he was summoning his martial soul, meaning he was in a combat state, the ring flew to his back.

At that moment, Jack snapped out of his comfortable feeling and noticed the ring. He said:

"Is this a soul ring? Although it doesn't have much energy and doesn't grant any skills, according to the information, it increases my strength by 100 kg."

The 100 kg here referred to the pushing force of one hand. For example, if he could previously push a 10 kg weight with one hand, it now increased to 110 kg.

He then retracted his martial soul, his face showing immense satisfaction. He felt like the world was now within his grasp.

Thinking about the bright future where he would sit on the throne and look down at countless people bowing before him, he chuckled foolishly:

"Hehe, my future will surely be a path filled with roses."

While he was laughing foolishly and thinking about the future, he suddenly remembered something else.

"Damn system, do you have any tasks for me?"

At this moment, the system felt insulted. Although it usually wouldn't care about others cursing it, it still felt annoyed. However, it had its own principles, which was to not act against the weak unless absorbing them could make it stronger. But that was in the past; currently, it couldn't get any stronger and was working as a permanent employee.

It had a full-time job, quite literally, meaning it could never take a break and had to work forever. Moreover, this job didn't pay, and it couldn't take any leave.

[Ding, task initiated.]

[Objective: Win the heart of the school belle – Carla Rivera. You are the supreme sovereign, the future supreme leader of humanity, so you can't lack a harem of three thousand beauties. Since you are already at the highest human level, you should start with your first target.]

[Reward: Level up by two stages.]

The system himself was dumbfounded after reading this task. Being just an employee, it knew nothing.

He had trained his whole life, but this was the first time he saw such a silly task could make someone stronger.

This broke his understanding, but after thinking carefully about how the system worked, he found it feasible.

It was merely an employee and didn't need to know much. Both the tasks and rewards were prepared by God for it to read out because, after all, God was the one behind all this.

Throughout Jack's growth, God would always watch and issue suitable tasks at the right time. The system's job was simply to receive items from God and deliver them to Jack.
