Chapter 1 - Chapter I: The island of Newfor

In the year 212 after the missing millennia, an island emerged from the sea, at first it seemed uninhabitable due to the inclination of the island that was over 40 degrees minimum at any inch of the isle, and the extreme vegetation and biosphere present on this island, but some crafty citizens have decided to move there anyway, so they could live under no ruling, and to be excluded from any decisions of the ruling class, and taxation, this led into a new anarchist village coming to life in this island with harsh conditions, at first the people who newly moved there found it hard to live a peaceful life, since the island was quite steep and full of vegetation everywhere, but over generations and generations the new locals developed some special abilities to fit such conditions, they could now run faster, dive deeper, and were basically superhuman in all physical aspects. These evolved people hardly ever left the island that ended up being called Nefor coming from the words: New and Fortune, but when they did they were a spectacle to behold, since due to all their extraordinary abilities they did not quite fit into normal human society, hence they were quickly recognized as a danger to the "more advanced" civilizations as "primitive beasts". Not much after the propaganda about them being a dangerous primitive kind spread, people started to call them Primals, as their superhuman traits reminded them of what they have learned humans may have been like at a certain point of evolution. These assumptions were however all wrong, as this subspecies of humans was in no way inferior to them, they were quick to adapt to all kinds of harsh environments, some scientists noticed that being the case, and for that reason started putting bounties on their heads, so that they could experiment on them, after word of these experimentations spread the inhabitants of Newfor decided to not leave the island under any situation, anymore, and their only contact with the outside world became the not so frequent visit of travelers from all around the world, this made some of the newer generation wish to leave the island, as stories of great adventures were their only information about anything beyond the horizon.

These islanders slowly got used to isolation, and became completely self-sufficient; they mostly lived off of fishing, but some of them also managed farms. As hundreds of years have passed technology around them have improved immeasurably without any hint of that happening ever getting spilled at the island of Newfor. The Primals knew nothing of electricity, all they possessed were old scripts, and books centuries old. This however changed drastically about 15 years before right now, when an eager merchant saw a possibility for a huge trading partner in the Primals, hence Erik the trader decided to establish a trades contract with the locals, the contract was quite simple as Erik was a truthful man, and he truly wanted to do fair trade with the Primals, in exchange of technology and knowledge of the new world, he asked them about their history, and whatever their ancestors left for them, one one of these trade routes the locals prepared an unknown artifact for Erik to take as a sign of their gratitude for all the pleasure and joy he had brought to them. As usual Erik took the new haul and sailed his boat back to the city he lived in, however after this journey Erik never returned for more goods, and never even contacted the tribe. As more time passed the Primals grew worried about their newfound friend, and decided to abandon their ancient commandment of not leaving the island under any condition; an exploration team of 5 man set sail towards the direction that Erik normally went in, the five man struggled for months to find any land, but they never did, exhausted and out of both food, and beverage to drink they submitted to death, and perished. The locals, not knowing what happened came to the assumption that it must be some curse, and that's why them leaving the island was forbidden for generations. After that the period of total isolation continued on from that point on, this caused the population that now knew of the outside world to be somewhat depressed, as well as making the younger generation feel restrained, and building up a desire in them of wanting to break free, however with a few exceptions noone left the island after that incident, and the once very bright stories of the outside world began to look like teasing fairytales. The multi millennial evolution of the Primals that made them far surpass the abilities of an average human led only to the total depression of the tribe, and more than ever their lack of knowledge of the rapidly changing world around them."-The village has three ports, all of them are mainly made for fishing purposes, and there are 2-3 skiffs attached to them. The architecture itself is quite dated, most of the houses are primarily made out of wood and clay bricks, they do however know how to make glass, and are using it, mostly for fishing tho. Because of the poor lighting conditions, nearly all the Primals are asleep all night long, this could normally make them vulnerable to night time attacks, but their senses are way too sharp for them not to notice an intruder. While not all the villagers are nice to each other, they all respect the rules of the island passed down for hundreds of generations. Due to the lack of medical equipment they have developed immunity to most illnesses and venomous creatures; however their life expectancy is critically low compared to the rest of the world being only 80 years for both male and female islanders. Since they are a small tribe over the hundreds of generations, their looks started to look a lot more alike, they all seem to be black haired with semi-dark skin and cyan eyes, their height is around 175cm, and their build is extremely agile, while they look skinny they are also incredibly strong. Messing with them may even be dangerous, but they seem to be a friendly bunch. On my new trip to Newfor I received what seems to be some kind of ancient artifact, they seemed to be eager about giving it to me even though I tried to refuse it multiple times. -Right now on my way back I cannot seem to find the route I normally take to my homeland, I wonder if the sea made me sick, or if I am dreaming. Anyway I will be back soon with the greatest haul yet.(...) -It has been 37 days since I set asail from the island of Newfor, I am now sure that I was tricked in some way that I cannot comprehend, I may have made someone much higher up angry with my approach towards the Primals. My journey back home is getting to its endpoint, not by me reaching my destination, but by my death… I hope no one from the island follows me as from my understanding they may develop an even stronger distrust towards the outside world if the people who they send out never end up returning. They don't even know how to make drinking water from the seawater, they never had to learn that since they had a huge lake of drinking water in the middle of their island, the crater it is in was probably once an active volcano…, I seem to be distracting myself from the thought of death in my final moments though I do not regret anything I have done in life so far,I was an honest man, and I never broke my promises made to anyone be it the Primals or the gentleman in my city. In my final words, I would like to write my will:(...) therefore I leave all my knowledge and belongings to May The Neon Dragon. -Erik Dfarnutger"
