Chapter 1 - A LETTER AND AN OREGANO

OUT OF THE MOST HAUNTED NIGHTMARE. SHE STOOD, LOOKING ABSENT-MINDEDLY INTO THE ALMOST ALLURING SMILE OF HER FATHER, ALTHOUGH HE WASN'T THERE, SHE FELT HIS PRESENCE AND MAYBE SHE ACTUALLY SAW HIM.

TEARS FORMED IN HER EYES AS SHE FELT HER GRIP ON HIS LETTER; ALREADY FOLDED AND PARTIALLY CRUMBLED. ANOTHER ONE GONE.

' When do you plan on getting over this one?' Simon asked, repositioning himself on the chair. As much as he didn't want to, he couldn't, after all he was her brother and he had always helped her get over many heartbreaks in the past and this one? He couldn't deny as the most heartbreaking of all.

She ignored him and sobbed adnaesum causing him to feel frustrated. Slowly, he stood from the sofa and retrieved the letter from her hand alongside the Oregano that he sent with it. He ambled across the room, scrutinizing carefully every leaf on the bunch, then he scoffed.

'An Oregano? Really, do they think you need herbs and spices to get over the trauma they put you in? You know, it's unbelievable Mia, it's really travesty to think or feel that they care when they clearly don't' he said, placing the Oregano and the letter on the table.

She turned to face him, looking really angry, she was never the patient type and she loved to get back at someone when the fun is about to end, to her, it was the best way to keep the vibes flowing.

'Such pity Simon, to think that I won't be able to take care of myself without your help' she said, looking confidently into his eyes.

She could say she had gone too deep but, something drew her back, something made her confident stare fail and that was the truth, the one she would never be able to accept.

'I know for a fact that you will never be able to. Besides all of that, Mum is coming today, she had to cancel her business trip and her vacation had to be suspended' Simon informed as he made his way towards her room.

'You told her'

Mia ran quickly into her room, ready to rack her brain for a perfect excuse if her mother ever asked about her relationship.

' She is coming back for an urgent business, you should know mum by now, she doesn't care about our lives' She heard him say as his voice faded away into the garage area.

She felt the resentment in his voice as his words rung in her ear. And if she was being truthful, she knew her mother deserved more than resentment, after what she had done to them, she wasn't worthy of another dawn but... they were completely helpless.

She took her phone form the counter table and read through the message

Hannah had sent her.

She was about to place her phone back on the table when another message popped in but, she wasn't in the mood for her friend's tantrum so she placed it on her bed, covering it with a duvet.

Walking towards the curtains, a feeling of loneliness coursed through her and she felt betrayed. She was reminded of how she had to endure through hardship, when there was no one to understand her, at least not as much as her father would have understood.

'I miss the most times' she said as she drew the curtains, abolishing every obstruction to the beautiful view of the sunset in a beautiful city.

A chilly wind swept across her cheek and her lips quivered as she rubbed her palm across each other.

Her phone beeped again but this time it was continuous, and it didn't stop till she had no choice but to read it. It was from Simon and he was only conversing on behalf of Hannah.

She grunted and threw the phone back to the bed.

'You ignored my messages' the voice came through as the door flung open.

Mia rolled her eye indifferently. She stared at the recognized figure with her eyebrows up, then she muttered "Hannah".
