Jason spared the man a final glance.
The man was seemingly staring his soul out of him, his eyes staring through him.
He turned away and began running.
The man was left sprawled on the ground outside the settlement, and the veil of the settlement was left open.
If a monster passed by and saw him in this condition, it would undeniably eat him.
He had considered killing the man himself, because if he was left alive he could report to them.
But then, a thought had emerged in him. A thought that prompted him to spare his life.

It was a random thought.
But it was that random thought that the man who had lost his wife survived.
With that single thought he had decided to spare the man, he had an inkling of what Kira meant by clean-up but chose to do his own stuff.
After all, the guy had abandoned him and left him to deal with his mess.
