Chapter 10 - Survival.

"Ughhhh..." The shockwave from the meteor had been devastating. The impact was so powerful that dirt and debris had been flung towards the group.

Alex slowly opened his eyes, finding himself in a pristine, white room reminiscent of a hospital. He was lying on a bed with white covers, surrounded by an unfamiliar, sterile environment.

"Greetings, Mr. Alexander," a woman in a white uniform said as she entered the room, holding some papers.

"Where am I?" Alex asked, his voice filled with confusion.

"You are at Dynamós University. You were brought here by the search team we sent to the site of the asteroid impact a few days ago," the woman explained. She extended her hand towards Alex, and a green light enveloped him, providing a soothing sensation.

"What happened to my fellow soldiers?" Alex inquired, feeling a deep concern despite his exhaustion.

"Your fellow soldiers are all fine. Captain Adam Zackbenger was the first to wake up. He chose to return to his post and asked me to inform him when you awoke," she said, noting something on her papers.

"I see... that's great," Alex replied, relieved.

"And what about the meteor? What happened to it?" he asked.

"That information is confidential, as per the Emperor's orders," the woman said with a polite smile. She then excused herself, leaving Alex alone in the room.

"Fuck... I can't believe 800 meters wasn't enough to escape the shockwave," Alex muttered to himself, gazing up at the ceiling.

"I figured as much," Alex said, closing the prompt. He looked around at the tiny red dots in the air, now appearing like little fireflies with a soft glow. He smiled and decided to get some rest.

--

The following day, Alex awoke fully clothed and ventured outside the room. He found himself in a grand hallway with a red carpet and decorative balustrades, overlooking different floors. The architecture seemed a blend of medieval and Victorian styles, which puzzled him.

"Hey, you there..." Alex called out to a woman in a white coat.

"Yes, sir?" she responded.

"Now that I'm awake, where can I go to check out and retrieve my belongings?" Alex asked.

"Let me check for you," the woman said, adjusting her glasses and reviewing her papers. "Alex, you're all set. Go to the first floor, head to the counter, and you can get the key for your belongings."

"Thank you," Alex replied, heading to the first floor. As he walked, he overheard snippets of conversation.

"That damn Fire Phoenix guild... they think they're so great just because they won the tournament."

"Oi, are you talking trash about them? They're a tough bunch."

"Just keep quiet; you don't want them overhearing you."

The conversations were filled with gossip and tension, adding to Alex's confusion. He was struck by how this place, despite being in Greece, had a medieval or Victorian vibe.

Upon reaching the first floor, Alex was greeted by a spacious, circular area with counters and numerous people milling about.

"Greetings, I'm here to retrieve my belongings," Alex said to a counter attendant.

"Greetings. Please provide your name," the attendant requested.

"Alex," he answered.

"Here's the key you need. Go north to the drawers, and find the one with the matching inscription," she instructed.

"Thanks," Alex said, taking the key and heading to the north. The corridor was lined with numerous drawers.

"6969," Alex read aloud as he approached one of the drawers and opened it.

"Hm?" He looked behind.

There was a girl at the end of the room crying.

"What's wrong little girl," Alex asked.

The girl looked up, she looked 13 - 14, she wore a beautiful red uniform with a red skirt, she had black hair and blue eyes.

"Who are you." She asked this.

"My name is Alex, I just got treated here, do you want to tell me what happened to you?" Alex asked smiling.

"I... nothing..." She smiled and stood up.

Alex looked at her hand and saw different types of blue marks and some red marks too. but there was one thing, he could see a bit of mark, like marks just bellow her sleeves, it seemed like it was some kind of disease.

"Hey, this may not be in my place to say but, if you let people think bad of you, you will think bad of yourselves, and surprisingly 'The things that we normally fear and worry about, can end up being the greatest allies," Alex said this took out his stuff and left.

Leaving behind the stupified little girl.

She looked down at her finger that was wrapped in some cloths and clenched her fists.

--

Alex walked out from the door but then stopped for a moment.

"Wait... where the hell am I again?" He looked in front of him and saw... Greece... again.

He looked in front of him and saw the entrance of the university was a Greek style pillar-looking building, it was adorned with quartz pillars and decorative carvings.

He looked in front of him and saw Greek-style buildings with pillars and two-way roofs.

But there was one thing here he could not understand, Alex looked behind the Greek-style buildings and, he saw medieval-style towers, and even behind those were castles that had no right being in Greece, he scratched his head weirdly.

This was a truly weird sight, he looked around to see people dressed in leather clothes and white fabrics wrapped around them, women wore beautiful white fabrics, but he looked behind and saw armored gentlemen and people that wore some witch hats and went around with big beards.

He looked up for a moment and scratched very weirdly.

"Soo... where the hell am I again." Alex found this truly strange right now, was he in another world?
