At first, everything is gray. Completely gray. I can't see when I open my eyes. All is fuzzy. I'm floating. I feel detached.
"He's waking up." Daji's voice. "Someone get him a drink of water."
"Not just water." Berry's voice. "Our special formula infused with the water. It'll help flush out the toxins. Hopefully he'll be able to drink it."
"He's been on an IV drip for two days." Gramps' voice. "Does he still have to serve out the week? Hasn't he done enough?"
Lowan, predictably defiant. "That's what I told the king and queen."
"Yes, they heard you and me the first twenty times," Berry replies, steel in her voice. "Given that he almost died taking down Kheevun'qe, a threat to our people, and all of you acted with valor and loyalty, my parents cancelled your week of servitude. Oh, and getting chewed out by Wukong and the rest of the Wendigo's senior management didn't hurt. This could have been a nightmare for the Pixie Court."
