All the godly power in the Celestial Realms couldn't make Tina budge. She stands rooted to her spot.
All the djinns' heads go on a swivel when they thing no one else is looking. They can turn their heads like owls in a complete circle. They're transfixed by this emotional family drama. All I hear is the whisper of them moving around.
Tina crosses her arms, staring at her father. "After all you've done ... you want forgiveness." He eyes travel over to Jocelyn. "Have you--"
"Yes." Jocelyn speaks with quiet dignity. "For you."
"ME!"
Tina steps back, staring at her mother as if at a stranger.
"For me you do this?" she asks in a childish voice. "What me? The me that cried when you left? The me that watched for you for days? The me that was never quite good enough in my father's eyes? The Tina that he sold like a pair of sneakers to some devil alien?"
Ouch.
