I hate to leave my own party.
Inside the conference room in the hotel, I fortify myself with a plate of BBQ pork and fish as well as a variety of sides. Daji, Erlang, Athena, Waverly, Sun Wukong who claims to be bored, Thor, Loki, Odin, and Fuxi all sit around the conference room table. They seem to be my unofficial advisory board.
The orb on the conference table shows a logo that looks like it was designed by committee. A bold fresh appearance, multiple hands piling together like some team gesture, and a single bland word, "The Consortium."
It doesn't even look remotely threatening, which may be the whole idea. It makes my skin crawl. Skulls, bats, and vampires couldn't look more hideous. In fact, I'd prefer all of those ghoulish things. They don't put on some fake front of benevolence. How did that old sixties song go? "It's an eminence front, it's a put-on." Something like that.
