Daji sits still, a fox spirit statue, unblinking, unmoving. Her perfect cheeks are stained with Burgundy red as she struggles to restrain her outrage.
"This is a test, surely."
Her voice could slice through steel, and even Lamashtu sits up and takes notice.
"Or it's a joke," Daji continues. "Us? Share him?"
Should I feel insulted that the two of them are speaking of me like I'm a pizza or a steak?
And how does this work, exactly? Do I buy Lamashtu a century's supply of deodorant because of her uncontrollable body odor? Do I accept the pig and the dog she's nursing?
Do she and Daji split up my nights? Daji gets Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday while Lamashtu gets the rest?
This has got to be the worst harem situation I've ever seen.
"It's no joke," Lamashtu says. "I want him. The inn will belong to me as a part owner. I want him. I dueled every demon in the Consortium for him."
