It figures that the entrance to Tartarus is in the boiler room ... inside the actual boiler.
Well, not quite. But close!
Next to the boiler is a sign in English and Greek. In both languages, the sign reads, "Caution Around the Boiler." Daji presses the sign, and the entire wall lights up. A section of it slides back, revealing a dark opening with torches sputtering just inside.
Daji, who's obviously made this trip before, leads me through the entrance. we grab two torches from the wall. SNICK. The door shuts behind us. I turn around and see the same sign on this side of the door.
I smirk. "Clever. It lets you know where the exit to the mortal realm is."
Daji walks down a long, sloping cavern and I follow. The air is thicker here, and my nose wrinkles in disgust. "Smells like standing polluted water. That's probably the River Styx."
