I've never been so covered in soot, or so geeked out in my life. I am in a Greek God's sacred workspace, in Hephaestus' own palace. This workshop is the shrine to all things creative, metal, and beautiful.
Hephaestus' workshop is filled with clouds of smoke, because he's left his hot tools in a bucket of water to cool off. Gleaming golden armor and the smoke create a dreamlike atmosphere. Shields, swords, helmets, breastplates, and weapons and armor of every description, in the Greek style of course, fill the workshop. There's a whole section with gold just waiting to be made into jewelry, and uncut gems in piles. Marble statues in various stages of carving fill an entire room.
Reportedly, he designed Hermes' winged helmet and sandals, the Aegis breastplate, Aphrodite's famed girdle, Agamemnon's staff, Achilles' armour, Heracles' (or Hercules or Herakles) bronze clappers, Helios' chariot, and Eros's bow and arrows.
