Chapter 10 - Bad Luck

After the game the Coach was nowhere to be found, when Kim Na-na was asked about his whereabouts she said he had an urgent business to take care of. The team members flocked around Sung Min praising him for the final strike while also saying their goodbyes to him.

The club's coach walked into the chairman, Park Suh-Jun's office.

"What brings you here coach?" Park Suh Jun asked.

"I came to talk to you about a player we must keep."

"Really? Have a seat." The coach sits, "who might that be?"

"Lee Sung Min."

"You want me to keep the worst player I've signed in my career as this club's chairman? My biggest failure, why?"

"Did you watch our last game."

"I did not, but I know that you lost again. Instead of talking about a failed footballer, you should be focused more on yourself, the club wants to terminate your contract too, we were just waiting too see the result of your last game before we made our final decision and we've decided." Park Suh-Jun relaxed in his chair comfortable, "We see no point in paying you anymore when all you do is lose, when we can easily do that without you."

"Sack me if that's what you want, but terminating Lee Sung Min's contract right now will be the biggest regret of your life."

"Oh really?" The coach picked up his phone, "Let's see what the sporting director has to say about this." He starts speaking into the phone, "Hello, Mr Yung, I need you to come to my office Immidiately,"

Few minutes later, Yung Ah In the sporting director walked into the office, "Hello coach," He shakes hands with the man then he turned to the chairman, "is there any problem sir?"

"Mr Yung, the coach here wants me to keep Lee Sung-Min at the club, what do you have to say about that?"

Mr Yung turned to the coach surprised, "We both know that young man is finished, why should we keep him here and keep paying him for doing nothing?"

"Did you watch our last match?"

"No, I was busy scouting for young players that will replace Lee Sung-Min after we sack him."

The coach pulled out his phone from his pocket, opened youtube and found a video of their last matche's highlight, "watch this," He handed Mr Yung the phone.

"You want me to go through the pain of watching our team lose?" Mr Yung said as he grabbed the phone.

"You can start watching from after I subbed Lee Sung Min in."

"Okay, just 15 views, typical, now let's see," He starts watching.

"The only reason I played him was because my daughte bet her career on him. She said that if he didn't impress me in our last match, she will quit coaching and abandon her dream."

"You evil man, your daughter said that and you only gave him only 4 minutes playing time. What was he supposed to accomplish with that little time?"

"I was praying for his failure, coaching is a ruthless career, and her being a woman makes it a thousand times more difficult for her to succeed. My daughter is very smart, I want her to follow an easier, clearer and more secured career path when she still can. Her giving up on coaching will be my greatest joy as her father."

"You let that guy take a free kick?" Mr Yung exclaimed mockingly while his face is still glued to the video.

"Not really, but I am glad he did."

"You're glad he did?"

"Wow!" The exclamation slipped right out of Mr Yung's mouth, "that was impressive, but we can't keep him just because of this."

"What's that?" The chairman inquired.

"Lee Sung Min scored a lucky free kick."

"Is that what the fuss is, a lucky freekick?"

After two minutes, Mr Yung stood up to his feet in kid like excitement, "Yes!! When did he become so fast? What the fuck, where did that come from. Oh my god! He has to score! F*ckkkkk!!!" He turned to the chairman instantly with his eyes beaming, "You have to watch this!" He then handed the phone to the chairman.

"We have to keep him, this changes everything."

The coach carefully watched the video to the end in utter silence without reacting to anything. After he was done, he dropped the phone on the table and heaved a heavy sigh.

"I've made a big mistake."

"What do you mean?" Mr Yung asked.

"I've sent Lee Sung Min the official contract termination later today. At this moment, he is no longer a part of this club."

Sung Min and his sister Cho Yung are seated on the bed in his room looking at the sack later through his laptop."

"Not only are you broke, you are now jobless and soon you'll be homeless." The sister said sarcastically, "at least you have money saved up."

"Money saved up where?" Sung Min asked in surprise, because he was hundred percent sure he had no money anywhere.

"I saw an envelope filled with cash inside your wardrobe."

What the f*ck were you doing in my wardrobe, and how did you even enter this house?"

"Took the key with me last time I visited, your turn, how did you get all that money?"

"It's not my money."

"Who has it then?"

"It belongs to Son Dayeun."

"Your ex' new fiance??? How did that happen?!"

"Hold up, how did you know who he was?"

"I'm a woman, that's easy. Now hyung, tell me how you got all that money from him."

"Just before he too Na-ri with him, he dropped the money on the table and asked me to feed myself with it."

Ch Yung fell to the fall laughing, "He paid you off and took your girl??!!!"

"I guess...."

"THEN WHY HAVENT YOU SPENT ALL THAT MONEY YET?!" Cho Yung's laughter turned to fury in a split second.

"I plan to give it back to him."

"You are so lame brooo..." She groaned, "when someone throws their money at you, you spend it not give it back to them."

"Nah, I still have dignity."

"Come on!!" She threw her hand up in defeat, "Okay, I have no dignity, you can give me the money instead broo."

"Go pester someone else." Sung Min got up and started walking towards the door.

"Hyung you are going to be homeless soon, throw away that stupid pride of yours."

"I won't be homeless, I already got a job offer from another club." Sung Min replied her with a smirk on his face.

"Huh?! What club wants you" Cho yung leapt up to her feet and ran to Sung Minnin ecstasy.

An office door opens, and Sung-Min walked in wearing a suit, he then sat down in a couch facing another couch that had the chairman and coach of Osaka Fc already seated on it.

"Welcome, Mr Lee Sung Min," the chairman said while strtching out his hand for a handshake. After the shake hands, the chairman began speaking,

"We understand that your contract with Momyung football club has been terminated. We want to offer you a contract to come play for our club."

"Your last game against us was really impressive, that is why we want to sign you." The coach chipped in.

The chairman handed him the contract and continued;

"We understand you were paid 100,000 won weekly at your previous club. We want to increase to increase that number to a whooping sum of 2 million won per week and other bonuses. We also intend to keep increasing your if you perform very well.

Sung Min looked through the contract, "hmmm... 4 years.."

"It is a pretty good deal."

"No, I can't stay at your club for four years."

"Okay, we can bump it down to three with an option to increase it to 4 if you want." The chairman replied.

"This is a really good deal, considering you were earning only 100,000 won in your previous club with two years still left in the contract."

"I will think about it and get back to you." Sung Min got up and left.

"That's a really good offer," Cho Yung said with joy after Sung Min her about the interaction.

"So, are you going to take the offer? She added.

"Yes, it's a very good deal."

"Perfect, and your previous club just sacked their coach, they posted it on their socials."

"What?" Sung Min exclaimed in surprise.

"They probably got tired of him losing every match and decided to kick him out with all his staff."

"All his staff? Besides, the club was already sh*t when the coach joined so the bad results wasn't even his fault."

A knock on the door put and end to the conversation momentarily, Sung Min walked to the door, opened it and saw the chairman Park Suh-Jun and the sporting director Yung Ah In. standing outside.

"I apologise for visiting without prior notice, that is because there is something we must discuss urgently."
