"You spent 3 hours on me… and you didn't even come up with anything? You're even more useless than Adelfred."
And once again, the Lucian Effect lingered in the air — silence. The doctor's wide eyes just watched as Lucian started moving and slithering around the operating table before leaping into the trash bin.
"You shouldn't have touched this, by the way," Lucian then crawled out of the trash bin carrying the napkin that the doctor threw, "This is like a part of me — in fact, you might have even discovered more if you analyzed this napkin instead."
"Huh?" Was the only thing the doctor could utter as Lucian casually climbed up and returned to the operating table.
"Yes. It was flushed down the toilet, survived the violent torrent of the sewers, it survived being slashed in half by a mutated scorpion, it even survived fire," Lucian then started grabbing the syringe with his hair and prepping it with anesthesia. And as he did so, the doctor just watched in shock,
"It's magical, really."
"Wh—"
And before the doctor could even utter a single word again, a syringe just quickly penetrated to the side of his neck. His eyes turned to look, only to see Lucian's hair holding the syringe. And without even being allowed to react — his eyes just closed and he dropped to the ground like a wet noodle.
"Wakey, wakey, Doctor Icky."
"Huh!?" The doctor then once again quickly opened his eyes as he woke up from his own gasps. He thought he only lost consciousness for a second, but clearly, the fact that he was completely naked and curled inside the glass cage Lucian was previously in, proved otherwise,
"Where… how? I was—Kh!"
And before the doctor could continue his pathetic stutters, Lucian just inserted the scalpel through the gaps of the cage and stabbed the doctor's cheek with it.
"Gkh…" The doctor sucked in a deep breath while gritting his teeth and holding his bleeding cheek.
"I'll be asking the questions now, Doc," Lucian tapped the glass again as he sighed, "You had your chance already and you wasted both of our times. I actually thought you would be discovering something, but no…
…you just giggled like a pervert."
"What are—"
"Tut tut," Lucian clicked his tongue as he threatened to stab the doctor again, "I'm asking the questions, remember? So… at first I thought you were a Murcan, because you know…
…all of this," Lucian started pointing around the room,
"But when you were out cold, you spoke the same language I heard from the hunters who were after Rosa," Lucian's eyes opened wide as he smiled at the doctor, "That means you, my friend…
…You're Hestian. What…? Plot twist."
"And you are extremely intelligent for a—no," the doctor also started to smile, "Maybe that moron was right, maybe you are a Sacred Spi—"
"So, you like to experiment, huh?" Lucian once again tapped the glass cage with the scalpel, causing the doctor to flinch again, "Are these chimeras? Or are they something else entirely?"
"Wh—"
"I wasn't really asking," Lucian let out a short but very deep breath, "But you tell me, Doctor…"
"!!!" And all of a sudden, the doctor felt a chill run down his spine as the tone of Lucian's voice turned extremely cold.
"…Do you like playing god to these creatures?" Lucian whispered. The smile that persisted on his face, now completely gone as all that was left were his glaring eyes which caused the doctor to just shiver uncontrollably.
His eyes were dead. It was almost as if the doctor felt himself falling down an infinite abyss as Lucian stared at him — an infinite abyss that not only swallows him but everything around him. He felt suffocated, drowning…
…and perhaps he was, as he was finding it hard to even breathe without his throat locking up. It was as if the air itself turned solid.
And all of a sudden, the little creature was little no more.
The doctor's tears just fell down on their own as his entire head trembled in fear. He completely curled into a ball as he felt like Lucian would just step on him at any given moment now.
"Maybe I don't need my questions answered after all," Lucian then let out a very long and deep sigh; his voice, as monotonous as it could be, "I will kill you now, Doctor."
"W—wait, wait!" The doctor gritted his teeth as he saw Lucian's hair very slowly opening the cage, "I'll… I'll tell you everything! Just please—"
"I hear something here!" And as the doctor was begging for his life, a loud commotion started banging from the hallways. Lucian did not really care, however, as his hair just continued to crawl into the cage with the scalpel,
"Lucian!?"
Lucian, however, could not help but stop as soon as he heard Rosa's voice. He quickly turned to look at the door, only to see Rosa holding her wand, and Hawk completely covered in blood while barging inside the room.
"Oh, Rosa? Baldie?" The cheeky friendliness in Lucian's voice instantly returned as his eyes glimmered while looking at Rosa.
"Lucian!" Rosa did not waste any time at all as she quickly rushed toward Lucian; gently lifting him up in the air and placing him deep in her chest, "I… I thought I'd lost you too."
And while Rosa was expressing her relief, Hawk, who was completely covered in blood, was just frozen next to the door.
'What was that?' He thought in his mind. For a split second there, when they barged into the room, he saw the expression on Lucian's face before he smiled… or rather, the lack of expression. He had never really seen anything like that before — but whatever it was…
…it was terrifying.
Absolutely terrifying.
