Chapter 2 - Supreme Comprehension System

"You—you are a demonic cultivator!"

Zho Quan exclaimed in shock, but his expression quickly shifted to one of excitement and malice.

"If I kill you and contact the sect, I will be rewarded for slaying a demonic cultivator."

He laughed, visions of rewards dancing in his mind, as he looked at Li Yun with greedy, sinister eyes.

Li Yun was equally shocked to see someone break his door open and barge in. When he recognized Zho Quan and heard his words, his face turned dark.

"Zho Quan, what are you doing here?"

Zho Quan broke into laughter. "You night market bastard forgot to pay the protection fee this week."

Li Yun's face contorted with anger. He had clearly told them last week that he wouldn't be part of their alliance and had peacefully quit, but it seemed he underestimated their greed—or perhaps Zho Quan's personal greed.

"Didn't I already say I quit the alliance?"

Zho Quan nodded mockingly. "I know, but... you know what, forget it. It's stupid for me to explain something to someone I'm about to kill."

He then shook his head and drew the sword strapped to his back. However, he didn't see fear or panic on Li Yun's face; instead, he saw surprise and a hint of shock.

"I have seen, Great Elder."

Li Yun then bowed and cupped his fists in respect.

'Great Elder?' Zho Quan was surprised that the Great Elder was here. He turned around to pay his respects, only to notice no one behind him.

'Damn, I've been tricked.'

He immediately spun back in anger, only to see a blood-red eye emotionlessly staring at him. In that moment, he forgot everything and stood there like a puppet.

'It worked!' Li Yun sighed in relief, wiping the blood that flowed from his left eye.

He then took out a sword from his storage ring.

Clutching the sword tightly, a touch of hesitation flashed in his eyes, but he soon shook his head.

"You saw something you shouldn't have."

He resolved his will and thrust the sword right into Zho Quan's heart. Blood flowed from Zho Quan's mouth as Li Yun stabbed him, and then his eyes became lifeless.

He died.

[Ding! Congratulations to the host for activating the Supreme Comprehension System]

Li Yun suddenly became alert upon hearing a voice in his head, fearing some expert had used sound transmission on him. But after seeing the floating text hovering in the air, understanding dawned on him.

"My system finally arrived!"

Tears rolled down his cheeks as he felt that his hardships over the past three months had finally come to fruition.

Only he knew how miserable his life as a vampire was in this cultivation world.

First and foremost, as a vampire, he couldn't be out during the day when the sun was up in the sky.

But when he transmigrated, he had foolishly thought of himself as the main character of this world, thinking he might be a different type of vampire—a vampire that didn't need to fear the sun.

That was his first reality check.

Moving his left hand up, he saw the bandages that coiled around his entire arm. "It almost cost me my entire left arm."

He laughed at his own foolishness, remembering how he had put his arm forward to verify his claims, only to almost lose his hand completely.

Second was the sect. Since he was a nominal disciple of the Mystic Cloud Sect, he had to do many odd jobs to earn contribution points. But as a vampire, he couldn't even move out of his hut during the day.

In the end, he decided not to do these tasks.

However, that too showered him with a lot of problems—so many that—thoughts of leaving the sect came to his mind over and over again, but he ultimately chose not to leave. The sect provided him with protection, which he would miss outside, and with his meager strength, he would surely die in this world without the protection.

In the end, just so he could eat and live well, he decided to do what this body had been doing for three years: sell pills.

"At least my efforts were worth it."

Li Yun smiled and was about to check his status when he suddenly clutched his head. "Agghhhh!"

A scream escaped his mouth as he felt excruciating pain coursing through his head. It felt like hundreds of nails being hammered into his head at the same time. But the good thing was it went away as soon as it came.

"Huh? There are some new memories inside my head. Was this the reason for the headache?"

Li Yun immediately checked the memories, and a moment later, an excited expression appeared on his face. He trembled thinking over the contents in his memories.

"It's a cultivation technique, and it mentions that if I reach the first level of Qi Training with this technique, then I don't need to fear the day. This is exactly what I needed."

This was what he needed the most—a way to face the day, and this cultivation technique provided him with that very thing.

"But first, I should take care of this body."

He stored the body of Zho Quan in his storage ring and stared intently at the blood that had fallen on the floor before he shook his head. "No, I am not ready for this."

He immediately wiped the blood off the floor and also threw the cloth he wiped with into his storage ring.

"I hope nobody knows the last time Zho Quan visited me."

He put those thoughts away, and a joyful expression appeared on his face as he said the magical word.

"Status."

No sooner did the word escape his mouth than a blue floating window appeared in his vision.

« Status »

[Name: Li Yun]

[Cultivation: None]

[Multiplier: 0]

« Mission »

[Task - Break Your Limits and Face The Day]

[Reward - 5x]

"I see... so if I complete my task, I will get a multiplier of five times in my comprehension. That's a good thing."

Li Yun nodded, very satisfied with his system.

'The system is called the Supreme Comprehension System, so it should live up to its name.'

He understood the value of comprehension in this world.

Without good comprehension, one wouldn't be able to master the cultivation techniques and martial techniques, no matter how hard they tried. They might not even be able to cultivate to higher ranks due to their limited comprehension.

"This is my cheat... I will surely be able to find my parents with its help," he murmured, clenching his fist in determination.

It was this resolve to find his parents that gave even the transmigrated Li Yun the strength to endure the hardships he had suffered over the past three months.

Even though Li Yun was transmigrated into the body of this kid in the Mystic Cloud Sect, he never felt that way. He never felt any different about this.

He couldn't describe this feeling. It was like he had become a complete person after both their souls from two different worlds merged together.

Therefore, he always felt that he was still the same Li Yun who had grown up with his parents before they mysteriously disappeared.

"And I am going to make sure I find them."

With his newfound resolve, he immediately sat cross-legged and started his cultivation.

"Primordial Essence Chaos Codex... Let's start cultivating."
