The system's voice rang in his head as Nolan snorted before releasing the Mummian whose neck he had grabbed.

He sheathed his dagger.

It seemed the creature could not be severed by physical attacks, but that also meant they couldn't attack Nolan.

In essence, to Nolan, they were useless.

"You can never save them!"

"Give up!"

"Turn back or face your death!"

The Mummians whispered, and Nolan's heart rate spiked as they spoke.

Nolan raised an eyebrow at the strange reaction within his chest.

Despite everything, he didn't feel a single trace of fear.

His heart, though, was thumping loudly, and even the hair on his arms stood on end.

It was a sign of fear and doubt, but Nolan was more himself than ever.
