After getting settled in the temple's large room that Selene had given them, Adrian, Lilith, and Medea hit the bathroom together. There were soft cushions all over the floor and rich artworks hanging along the walls of the room.
Adrian couldn't help but feel a growing sense of unease. It was surprising how luxurious such a modest village could be.
As if on cue, a knock came at the door just as they finished getting dressed. A young man entered, bowing deeply. "My Lords, Ladies, the service has begun. Please follow me."
Adrian exchanged a look with Lilith and Medea. "Here we go," he muttered, grabbing his cloak as they followed the man through the stone corridors of the temple.
They walked in silence for a few minutes, the sounds of music growing louder with each step. Adrian had expected some kind of solemn service—perhaps hymns, chants, and quiet reverence.
