I tried to seem nonchalant, and maybe I pulled it off, but the looks on their faces made me want to smile.
I still didn't completely know the reason for the falling out between Liam and the rest of the theater kids, but I'd learn it soon enough from the memories. However, I didn't have the luxury of waiting for that.
I needed to grasp the situation now and figure out something for Liam.
"Liam, are you joking?"
The girl in front of me seemed shaken just by my appearance, though she hid it well from the others. But when I looked into her eyes, I could see a subtle tremor behind them.
I somewhat remembered her—one of the many faces that flashed before me in Liam's life. Her name was Amelia.
She was the second most influential person in the Theater club after the supervising teacher, making her the club president with the vice president being… wait…
As scenes continued to shift in front of me and my head went through a sudden throb, I started to recollect more pieces of Liam's life.
The vice president was Liam…
[82%]
I could see the screen loom over me while a smaller wave of pain washed over me but I gritted my teeth and pushed through, this much was nothing, and I only smiled sheepishly in front of Amelia.
"No, I'm not joking, you guys are all over the place," I said while looking around the set… just by one glance, I could see that they were unorganized just from the look on their faces, all of them were in a hurry with their deadline drawing near and they were not even close to being ready.
"This set is a mess, you guys are a mess."
I could see her expression control even further but her lack of words proved my point, she couldn't say anything to refute it.
"Did you even find anyone to replace me?"
I don't even know the role that Liam was supposed to play, damn it, I felt a small headache, maybe from being in the theatre club, but I couldn't find a real reason for it.
My best guess was still the trigger.
And if my theory is correct, the trigger this time wasn't Amelia but the club in itself… things that mattered to Liam?
If that's the case, that would explain why the pain came when it did.
"Is this funny to you?"
While I was deep in thought, I could hear the voice of Amelia that grew silent over time with a newfound rage in her eyes.
I couldn't even give my answer to her before she started to berate me in front of the whole club, the decor hanging in their hands still as they stared at the screen in front of them.
"You left us when we needed you the most!"
"Do you remember the last thing you said to me?!"
"You must have, because there is no way you are shameless enough to just simply come back like this!"
She continued to throw curse after curses at me, berating me for what Liam had done… which I still have no idea what is but it must have been something rough… or they were just behaving like normal theater kids.
What the hell were you doing Liam?
I was starting to worry as her rage seemed to run deeper than simple betrayal, I only continued to question what the hell did Liam to warrant such hatred, and even to become an outcast.
The memories of Liam still loomed over me, one of isolation and hatred, he closed himself against the world, barely talking to anyone.
Liam, alone, in his room, his usual glint fading slowly as he closed himself off from the world.
But I won't let it fade completely, you will be walking on a straighter path than me.
I didn't say anything in response to the hateful scolding of Amelia.
"Done?"
She stared at me in an utterly dumbfounded manner, her face slowly getting red while the others continued to stare at the scene without uttering a single word.
There was only silence in the theater club, the decor was no longer getting placed and a graveyard of sound came to be of the once lively club.
Silence, that was all that ruled over the club.
Deafening silence.
Only to be broken by a screen.
"Ah! What are you doing here?! Leave me alone, don't hurt me!!!" A boy around our age with thick glasses that were only held together by tape, his face covered by frickles and his orange hair made him stand out.
But the normally outstanding features that made him stand out of the repaired-up with his handsome face held no meaning as he was screaming, almost begging for his life as soon as he saw me.
It was an ugly display, what was even up with that guy?
Even with a good chunk of Liam's memories implanted into my head, I still did not know who this guy was in front of me, but from the way that he was staring at me, I could more or less guess the reason for Liam being an outcast.
Don't tell me that you beat this guy up…
He probably did.
That would explain the small ache that I felt in my knuckles, it wasn't anything bad because it was probably a week or so ago, but that still explained it.
Even though I didn't want to believe it.
*ping*
The system made a sound to me without the window popping up in front of me, I knew what it was without having to see it.
The dull headache worsening was enough to tell me everything.
The guy in front of me was a trigger to the memories in Liam's head.
Even with the mind numbing headache and the mad expression of Amelia in front of me, all I was looking at was the boy in front of me.
I gritted my teeth and clenched my fist from the overwhelming pain but my eyes never left his eyes, they were locked onto it and I could see the fear in them.
But behind that 'fear' I could see a hint of smugness, almost as if he was gloating.
Just you wait bastard, I will figure out the reason for you being a trigger.
