Chapter 15 - You're His Mother!?

A few minutes later, both Tobias and Damian were sitting outside the dean's office waiting to be called in, but Tobias had no reason to be worried.

The campus was full of cameras and the guys had been chasing him for a while. Anyone who sees that footage would know he isn't in the wrong and whatever he did was in self-defense.

But I don't get why this fatass keeps smiling and looking at me.

As if reading his thoughts, Damian smiled again. Only this time, Tobias knew why he was smiling. The ring leader, Sam, had graced them with his presence.

"Wipe that stupid smile off your face, moron," Sam hissed, looking at Damian. "You had one job, and you failed at it miserably. Now I have to clean the mess you made."

Sam didn't spare another second there and headed inside the dean's room, and no one objected. Although Damian's smile had vanished when Sam was scolding him, the pig-like bastard was back to smiling again.

"You're fucked, little Toby," he laughed. "You should have stayed home, crying in your mother's lap. Now your future is ruined. You hear me? Ruined!"

"Hm... the college must not have high standards when it comes to intelligence," Tobias replied, rolling his eyes. "If it did, morons like you won't be here."

"What did you say!?"

"A dumbass with no retention—my expectations for this place are getting lower and lower every minute."

Damian made a face like he was going to hit Damian. Instead, he continued laughing.

"Have you forgotten who the Dean is?" he said. "It's been a year since she suspended you, so maybe you forgot about her. It's not like you have seen her before."

Now Damian had Tobias's attention. If the dean had already fucked him over once, then it made sense why Damian was acting cocky.

However, Tobias couldn't remember the past well enough to know if he was wrong before. But this time, he knew he was right.

Is this really a college or politics central? Dean fucking over students just because she could?

"Oh, don't worry, Sam's mother always listens to him. If he tells her to throw you out, she would do just that and there's nothing you could do about it."

"Really dude? First, he sent lackeys to fight me. Now you're talking about calling his mom. Grow a backbone, for fuck's sake. I mean, if you have no balls, you should have a backbone, right?"

"What did you say—?"

"Here we go again," Tobias sighed.

Before Damian could do anything, the doors opened, and they were called in. Damian got up and walked in without a word. As for Tobias, he wasn't as sure as he had been before.

The dean was Sam's mother. Now it made sense why Damian was so confident. If the dean was corrupt, then no one in the college could save Tobias, not even those cameras, since the dean most likely already had all the footage deleted.

With a loud sigh, Tobias entered the Dean's office. The dean had her back turned towards them. But judging by Sam's smirk, it seemed the results had already been decided.

Fuck my life, I guess...

"Elmworth College for the gifted..." the dean began without turning around. "Millions of candidates apply every year to earn a place in this prestigious institute. It's disheartening that some troublemakers get in and then ruin the college's reputation."

The dean turned around, her silver hair tracing her movements. However, a moment later, she got the shock of her life... and so did Tobias.

Carmila...?

She was a vampire, so it made sense for Sam to be related to her, but she was the last person Tobias was expecting to see there.

"Sam and Damian, you are free to go," Carmila stated.

"But—" Sam tried to protest.

He wanted to see Tobias's face when he got expelled. But Carmila was having none of it.

"Out!"

Sam rolled his eyes, but turned to leave, and so did Damian. They couldn't figure out why Carmila's mood suddenly switched, but at least they knew they'd never see Tobias again, and that was good enough.

"See you never, Toby," Sam mumbled before closing the doors.

Once they were alone, Carmila grabbed the phone and called someone, "Cut off the cameras in my office right now."

After a couple of seconds, she disconnected the call and flopped into her chair.

"A dean, huh?" Tobias started the conversation. "After last night, that was the last thing I expected."

"Don't act as if you know me--"

"Oh, but I do know you, Carmila," Tobias replied, feeling confident all of a sudden. "You said you were divorced, but I didn't know you had a son as well."

"There's a lot you don't know about me," Carmila mumbled, massaging her temple.

"And you think it's good to hide things from me?"

Carmila looked at Tobias with emotionless eyes. She didn't know what to do now. On one hand was the son she adored and on the second... the only man who had made her feel like a woman.

Moreover, Tobias already knew about her... hunts. If he went vocal about it, then it could cause a scandal and it was the last thing she wanted.

"What happened between us last night has no significance in this room," Carmila said, trying to maintain her demeanor.

"Of course, it shouldn't. But neither should your relationship with your son, right?" Tobias chuckled. "We both know your son is a brat and what he did to me was wrong. Still... you sided with him both before and now. I wonder what else have you done for him?"

Carmila remained quiet, knowing there wasn't anything she could say to defend her actions. However, what Tobias said next made her see red.

"Maybe he wouldn't be a spoiled brat if he had a father figure in his life. You know, someone like me—"

Before Tobias could say anything more, Carmila swiftly grabbed him by the neck and lifted him into the air.

"Stay in your limits!" Carmila snarled, her grip tightening around his neck.

Even at that moment, Tobias couldn't help but smile.

[Target has been charmed.]

"Wanna... switch roles... huh?" Tobias mumbled, grabbing her hand. "How about I teach you a lesson in respect first?"
