Cedric could feel her trembling body as she witnessed the strange priest losing any resemblance to his former self. His skin began breaking in different sections, with dark blood overflowing from his orifices.
"No harm will befall you," Cedric reassured her as his hand tightened around her shoulder. The priestess flinched and looked at him before giving him a dazed nod. "Stand behind me, and I will protect you."
Cedric allowed her to stand on her own before she hid behind him. As he took a step forward, the Hymn of Battle echoed from behind him. His stats were amplified by the strange song and music, and the monster took notice.
"An amplifier of abilities?" muttered the priest with a bloody grin. "It seems that the real threat was the woman all along. How could you stand against one of your own, Sister Aven?"
