Cedric released his skill the moment their carriage returned to the road. Morrin and Serina appeared out of thin air, and Cedric tried to catch his breath.
"How did your skill remain active?" asked Morrin with confusion. "The Shattering Bell can even disable B-rank skills."
"Shadow Manipulation is an A-rank skill that requires no mana," Cedric said with a sweaty face but smiling nonetheless. "It must have acted as a cover for the Cloak Skill."
"You have an A-rank skill?" asked Ember with surprise. Cedric smiled without answering. His Shadow Manipulation skill required no mana because it was A-rank.
Those below Level 20 were called unranked. Those between 20 and 40 were called E-rank. Levels 40 to 60 were D-rank, like Ember and Cedric. Levels 60 to 80 were C-rank. After that, the ten levels between 80 and 90 were called B-rank. Above that was A-rank.
