Rholas took several steps back before releasing his arrow at the shadow. The blinding light seemed effective against the vile creature, which let out a scream and dissolved before him. As the shadow disappeared, a new figure appeared between Rholas and Morrin.
"You are the one from earlier," said Rholas, staring at the masked man before him. "Who are you?"
"I'm a professional light dodger, full-time enemy of the church, at your service," answered the newcomer with a mocking tone. "Call me X."
"Axe? What kind of name is that" Rholas chuckled as he lowered his bow. "I am the Archer of Vengeance, here to enforce judgment on the heretic behind you. If you protect her, that makes you a heretic too."
"Axe? I said… Never mind," said the masked man with frustration, which turned into mockery. "Given those wings and bow, are you fucking Cupid? Oh, no! I'm so scared that this baby-faced angel would shoot me!"
