Cedric knew that he was no match for Rholas because of the apostle's ability to use divine powers. Rholas himself was not a threat if Cedric used everything he had, but Aegis was a god. Even if a sliver of his will existed in the apostle, Cedric would not be a match.
There was no use in attempting to kill Rholas before Aegis incarnated in his body because death would trigger a bigger reaction from the apostles. It was a wonder how Morrin managed to kill one of them.
The entire cavern was bathed in holy power as hymns were sung from the skies. Rholas became a creature of humanoid light as he waved his hand, creating countless spears of destruction above his head.
"Be vanquished, invader of this world," Aegis said in an ethereal voice as he waved his hand. The spears rained from the sky, destroying the dungeon and everything within sight. Cedric stared at the incoming attack with his shadow next to him.
