Chapter 28 - Descendants

Enzo had just left the room and the teenagers behind, with instructions to leave the building, form a guild called the Twelve Handsome Kings, and have them ally with his guild, Void's Touch.

Even though normal Beast players couldn't have the guild function until update 2.0, that wasn't a problem with Enzo's awakened status.

He had already created his guild, although he was its only member.

As Enzo ran through the building, he looked out a window and saw why they hadn't been interrupted further.

The thugs guarding the teenagers weren't the only ones the Crimson Serpent Nox City's branch had.

In fact, as he looked out the window, he counted about ten times that amount gathered in front of the docks.

"They seem to be waiting for something," Enzo muttered.

As he had done with his hearing, Enzo sent mana into his eyes to enhance his vision and looked into the waters.

"Well I'll be damned, it seems I've gotten lucky today." Enzo grinned, seeing a large yacht heading towards the docks.

'I guess that alarm wasn't triggered by me breaking into this building. It was to gather for whoever is on that yacht.'

Coming to this conclusion, Enzo estimated the yacht was still five minutes out, so he took the liberty of going into each office on the top floor and emptying it of any valuables, documents, and a few bags of muffins he found inside a cabinet.

He wasn't that impressed with his haul, but he wasn't that interested in anything Earth had to offer anyway.

With the amount of gold Enzo had earned from quests and his other activities in game, he could buy just about anything he wanted.

One thing he got did intrigue him, however.

He found it inside a safe he had casually ripped out of the wall, it was a red envelope titled: Intel on Earth's descendants.

The words sent a chill down his spine as he carefully opened the envelope.

The Conglomerate Descendents (Die for them if necessary): Young Master Liam, Young Master Zhao, Young Miss Sophia.

Merchant Union Descendents (Aid when possible): Businessman Urdin, Businesswoman Roxan).

Deep Sea Coalition Descendents (Stay away from, report to HQ if seen): Unknown, highly dangerous, and volatile.

Primal Pack Descendents (Attack if possible, report to HQ if seen): Kharak Moonhowl, Nira Swiftclaw, Talon Greyfang.

The Mythic Alliance Descendents (Report to HQ if seen): Unknown, highly likely none are on Earth.

Next to each name was a picture of the person. Enzo had only heard of two of these people, Young Master Liam and Young Miss Sophia, in his previous life.

Young Master Liam was the leader of the best guild on Earth, Apex, and appeared to be part of the Bayloff family, the creators of Beast Evolution.

'No wonder the Bayloff family was so well-informed and ahead of the curb, they had a young master from one of the multiverses Tier-9 clans on their side.'

Things from his previous life slowly started to make more sense.

'However, I remember Young Miss Sophia was firmly opposed to the Bayloff family. She led the second-best guild, Opposers, and sought to kill Liam.'

'I guess you can't have a force as big as the Conglomerate without internal strife,' Enzo mused.

As he was reading the letter, he kept his senses on high alert, so when he heard the yacht docking, he quickly stored the letter and made his way back to a window.

He couldn't wait to see what fish he had managed to catch after just casting his fishing rod.

The yacht had docked, and a figure emerged, flanked by burly bodyguards. Even from this distance, Enzo could tell it was a young woman, her posture radiating confidence and authority.

"Young Miss Sophia," he murmured, recognizing her from the list.

Enzo's mind whirred into action, formulating a plan. He needed information, and this unexpected visitor might be his best chance to get it. He slipped out of the room and made his way to the boss's office, careful to avoid detection.

When he arrived, the office was empty. Enzo quickly scanned the room, looking for a hiding spot. His eyes landed on a large potted plant in the corner. It wasn't ideal, but it would have to do. He squeezed behind it and waited while keeping his hearing enhanced.

'I'm glad I wasn't too rough with that safe, and, at least at first glance, it doesn't look like anyone's touched it.

After waiting for two minutes, the door opened, and two sets of footsteps entered the room.

"Young Miss Sophia, it's an honor to have you here," a gruff male voice said, undoubtedly belonging to the Nox City branch boss.

"Save the pleasantries," a crisp female voice replied. "Now that we're in your office, we can get on with business. I'm here to get an update on your progress."

Enzo heard the rustle of clothing as someone sat down.

"Of course, Young Miss. We've been making steady progress in expanding our influence in the city. Our revenue has increased by 15% this quarter alone."

"That's not what I'm interested in," Sophia cut him off. "What about the anomalies?"

There was a pause. "Anomalies, Young Miss?"

"Don't play dumb with me. We've detected unusual energy signatures in this area. Have you noticed anything out of the ordinary?"

Enzo tensed behind the plant. Were they talking about him?

How had they gotten here so fast?

"I... I'm not sure what you mean, Young Miss," the boss stammered.

Sophia sighed in frustration. "Of course you don't. You're too focused on your petty criminal enterprises to notice what's really important."

"Young Miss, I assure you-"

"Enough," Sophia snapped. "I'll conduct my own investigation. Just provide me a room to rest and stay out of my way. And remember, if you see or hear anything unusual, report it immediately. Understood?"

"Yes, Young Miss."

Enzo heard the chair scrape against the floor as Sophia stood up. This was as good a chance as any. In one fluid motion, he emerged from behind the plant, his eyes scanning the woman up close.

She was short, but her frame was built like a cheetah, ready to pounce. Her toned body radiated danger, so much so that Enzo was surprised. Although it wasn't enough to threaten him.

The boss let out a startled yelp, stumbling backward. Sophia, however, merely raised an eyebrow.

"Well," Sophia said, a hint of amusement in her voice. "I believe I've found my anomaly."

Enzo grinned, revealing his sparkling white teeth. "And I believe I've found my first informant."
