Chapter 178 - Ominous Signs

"Old man, you've been guiding Tohru, but now your magic circle is activating again on its own, glowing with that eerie green light!"

Seeing the sudden flare of the magical array, Uncle became flustered, shouting, "Aiyah! Another demon has appeared!!"

Without paying any attention to the three people who were still a bit confused, Uncle dashed over to the magic circle, pulling out sheets of white paper. He frantically scribbled on them while muttering, "How could it be so fast? This time... what kind of demon will it be?"

Seeing Uncle so tense, Jackie Chan and Tohru exchanged worried glances. Jackie had seen a lot over the years. Ever since they came into possession of the Rooster Talisman, trouble had followed them non-stop.

Talismans, demons, Dark Chi Wizards—they kept coming one after another. Now, he couldn't help but wonder what fresh disaster was brewing this time.

"Awesome!" Jade, however, seemed thrilled. She threw down her schoolbook and practically leaped out of her chair, eager to fight the demon. "Uncle, where's the demon? Let's take it down!"

"Jade, you should focus on your studies." Jackie gently grabbed her, sounding exasperated. He knew she wouldn't listen, but he continued to try reasoning with her.

"Jackie, go to the library and fetch me my Complete Magic Compendium."

After setting Jade back at her desk, Jackie quickly replied, "Got it, Uncle."

"And another thing, Jackie, bring me my tracking artifact."

"On it, Uncle."

"And one more thing, fetch me the dried lizard tails."

"Yes, yes... Uncle."

...

Watching Uncle as he focused intently on the magic circle, Jackie quietly asked, "Uncle, have you located the new demon yet?"

"No. The readings are too chaotic; I can't get a clear track on its location!" Uncle said, setting down his brush and rubbing his forehead in frustration. "Maybe the demon is still awakening, or maybe I used the wrong spell... Give Uncle time to figure it out."

"And another thing, Jackie, prepare yourself...."

Suddenly, the loud wail of police sirens pierced the air outside the antique shop.

A moment later, the shop door swung open, and a disheveled Captain Black stormed inside. "Jackie! The Dark Hand thugs have broken out of prison again!"

"Ah... Could it be Daolon Wong?" Uncle muttered as he glanced back at the magic circle. Right now, Daolon shouldn't have the power to trigger such a strong reaction from the white energy.

"The good news is, the Dark Chi Wizard hasn't escaped. According to the prison guards and security footage, Daolon summoned a strange, living mask." Captain Black continued.

"That mask... Could it be the latest demon tied to the disruption of the yin-yang balance?" Uncle murmured to himself. That would explain it—the warning from the magic circle must have been about that mask demon.

"To defeat magic, we need magic." Declaring this, Uncle once again refused Captain Black's request for military assistance.

Taking the lead, Uncle rushed out of the antique shop and jumped into the car, urging everyone, "Aiyah, don't worry about Daolon Wong—he doesn't matter! The important thing is that a new, more powerful demon is invading our world!"

"As long as we find the Dark Hand, we'll find the demon. Let's go!" Uncle felt an unshakable sense of unease as he sat in the car.

Daolon Wong, you better hope you're the one causing this mess!

If not, Uncle might not be so forgiving the next time they crossed paths.

...

But reality seldom aligns with our hopes.

Meanwhile, across the globe in Hong Kong's outskirts, the once-quiet forest suddenly erupted with a flash of purple light. A radius of ten meters of land collapsed, and a figure with flowing silver hair, dressed in a black steward's uniform, knelt on the cracked, smoldering ground.

"Ugh..." Rising to his feet and placing a hand on his cheek, Leiva surveyed his surroundings. "So, this is the world the Grand General spoke of."

He closed his eyes, recalling the information imprinted in his mind. "Hong Kong's outskirts, the Shadowkhan Temple, the Oni Masks, Ninja troops..."

"My first priority is confirming my location and retrieving the nearest mask." Pulling up his sleeve, Leiva glanced at the specialized watch Selene had provided, which supposedly could display latitude and longitude. It was custom-made in a place called Academy City.

Using the knowledge Selene had imparted to him, Leiva skillfully operated the device. "Connect to GPS. Calibrating position... Latitude: 22°26'00.00" N, Longitude: 114°12'00.00" E."

The coordinates matched the information about Hong Kong stored in his mind. "I'm currently located in Hong Kong. The first mask should be somewhere in this area."

"It's time to move." With his location confirmed, Leiva pulled down his sleeve and focused on the mountain range in the distance. A warrior's intuition kicked in. "There's a powerful presence over there."

...

At the same time, Tarakudo, Finn, Ratso, and Chow—the Dark Hand gang—were exploring the ruins of the Shadowkhan Temple. Upon entering a treasure chamber, they discovered a large, golden chest.

The spectral form of Tarakudo, now with an orange face and white facial hair, floated above them, speaking cryptically, "Consider this a gift."

Ratso and Chow eagerly approached the chest, patting its golden lid. Excited, they said, "It's like Christmas has come early!" and "Maybe it's full of treasure!"

With some effort, they pried open the chest, revealing a dark purple mask adorned with golden horns and deep green fur.

"The Shendu drew power from this mask to control the Shadowkhan Army. Daolon Wong also used it to harness their energy..."

Hovering above the chest, Tarakudo turned to Chow and spoke in a tempting tone, "Chow, why don't you try it on? See if it suits you."

Just as Chow lifted the mask and was about to put it on ceremoniously, two fingers poked through the eyeholes of the mask. "Chow, it's not right to wear masks that don't belong to you."

"Argh! It's you, Jackie Chan!" Chow yelled, furious at seeing Jackie spoil their plan once again. "Give it back!"

"Meteor Punch! Elephant Kick! Double Wind Palm! Dragon Claw Strike!"

In the midst of this brawl, a loud rumbling echoed from the back of the temple. A huge wave surged through the halls.

"Water Dragon Possession—[Hydroforce]!"
