Kelvin
I laid in the sofa for a while, just trying to relax after all the walking around the house. It still felt strange to me that I'm really in the house of a millionaire. After some minutes, I stood up to pack my things and get organized. I took out my clothes from the luggages and started to put them on the hangers in the big wardrobe.
It took some time but I finished that soon. I then arranged the remaining of my beloved possessions in the bedroom and I was sure to make the place look more attractive. When I was done, I looked at my watch. It was almost noon.
I decided to go and check out the rooms in the guesthouses as I had told Mike earlier. Then maybe, I'll see how I could start work right away. I left my quarters and took the key with me. I walked through the hallway and finally got to the elevator. I got in and it slowly took me down to the main floor. When the elevator door opened automatically, I went out in a haste and before I realized, I crashed into a housemaid.
We bumped into each other and she took a step back, amused. After the unfortunate encounter, I did my best to apologize immediately.
"I'm really sorry. I didn't mean to clash into you. I was so preoccupied."
She simply smiled. "I should be saying sorry. I have this bad habit of hurrying into the elevator. Please forgive me."
"Come on, it was totally my fault. My apologies." I insisted.
"I'm truly sorry, believe me," she responded. "It was all on me."
I got a hint she was playing a joke on me or something cause she was dragging this on. I thought I had seen her before in the house but when I looked at her closely, I was certain we hadn't met before. Maybe, she's the last housemaid Mike hadn't introduced me to. I justified that I had to end this silly charade.
"Fine, if you insist," I noted.
She smiled again. "Good. It's a blessing to finally meet you, the new house manager. I go by the name, Irene."
She bowed down majestically and I held her up. "You don't need to do that. I'm just a worker like you are. This is totally unnecessary."
"I still have to show some respect to you," she quipped. "You are like the senior worker around here."
I sighed shallowly. "No no, I'm just a normal worker like you.....I just have a commanding role."
"If you say so, Mr.....?"
"You can call me Kelvin," I introduced. "Kelvin is alright by me."
She smiled once again. "It's finally great to meet you, Kelvin. Actually, I saw you from the guesthouse when you were walking around with Mike. You look much better in person...."
I don't need a soothsayer to tell me what's going on. "Uhm, thank you....Irene. I actually have something to do...so.....see you later."
"Alright," she gleamed. "I can't wait to see you again, Kelvin."
I took some distance away from her. "And also, stop hurrying into the elevator," I joked.
"It was a lie," she replied as she stepped into the elevator. "I don't do that, ha."
The elevator door closed. I looked at it for some seconds before proceeding to walk through the hallway. That moment with Irene felt eerie to me. It felt like she was flirting with me with all that smiles and smirks. Her voice even sounded different for a second there.
It seemed I have finally met all the workers in the main house. The ladies in particular had my attention. Mimi is dark and slightly thick. She looked shy, just like George said but when she talks, you can feel the boldness in her voice. She's quite pretty and I could see why Francis was after her.
Valentina was the fair slim curvy chef. I thought she would never talk, judging from how she was quiet for a while but she did talk and it was cute. She seemed like an interesting person. Favour too had the same aura. She seemed like a reserved person and she was all smiles when Mike introduced me to her.
Lilian was more open than Favour and even offered to continue the tour in place of Mike, but I refused politely. It was nice meeting her. She was slim and beautiful too. Finally, I met the last of all, Irene.
I could say she was the prettiest of them all. Not only that, but she was attractively endowed too and how tight her attire was compared to the rest, made Irene stand out from them. She seemed nice but, I don't know what her intentions are. Either way, I'm determined to find out.
I was heading towards the master living room and I met Mike. He halted me.
"Kelvin, just as you wished, Mr. Hanson has reported."
I remembered. "Great. Do I look okay ?"
"You are supposed to be wearing black long sleeves with black trousers and a shoe," Mike notified. "But it's your first day, so it's not a big deal. Which reminds me, do you have black long sleeves by the way ?"
"Not to worry," I shrugged off. "I have one with a spare. So I won't be needing one."
"Okay, Kelvin." Mike said. "Mr. Hanson just arrived. You can go meet him outside as his car just pulled over."
"Thanks Mike,"
I hurried outside and indeed, I saw a Range Rover SUV, similar to the one that picked me up, in front of the house and one man got out of the car and opened the door for Mr. Hanson. He got out and a lady got out with him. I remembered the face from when I saved them from the kidnappers. That was one of Mr. Hanson's daughters.
She and her father walked in my direction with two men, standing behind them. I felt stupid but I approached them anyway.
"Good afternoon, Mr. Hanson," I faced him. "Please can I speak to you for a minute ?"
"Why, yes of course," he agreed. He motioned his men to go back in the car. They did and his daughter just went inside the house.
"How are you doing young man ? Are you enjoying yourself already ?"
"Yes," I nodded politely. "But there's a problem."
"What's the problem ?" Mr. Hanson held me on my shoulder. We walked into the house and we were in the master living room.
"I think you might have made a mistake and sent me some money in my bank account," I reported.
"Mistake ?" he echoed. He laughed for a second and patted me. "That was no mistake. I sent it on purpose."
"But I haven't worked for you yet,"
"Take it more like a welcome fee," he chuckled. "I want to show my appreciation for taking the job offer."
"This all is too much, Mr. Hanson."
"Don't worry, just take it as it is," he encouraged. "Has Mike showed you around ?"
"Yes, Mr. Hanson. He did show me around."
"Good," Mr. Hanson replied. "Has he also given you the tablet ? You'll need it for your work and to inform me how much money is needed for the operations in the house."
I nodded. "Yes. He gave it to me."
"Alright, is there anything else you'll need, Mr. Walter ?"
"Nothing else, Mr. Hanson."
"Good. Have a great time here and you can use the rooms on the ground floor. Work diligently and watch over the house."
"Okay, Mr. Hanson."
Mr. Hanson turned to leave and he stopped to face me back. "Oh, I almost forgot. You'll be the one deciding what food gets prepared in the house. But on rare occasions, I might tell you what needs to be prepared."
I nodded politely. "Okay, Mr. Hanson."
"Great. Have a good day." With that, Mr. Hanson exited the room at once.

I had sat under the open hut for a while and I was using my phone to distract myself from the current dilemma I'm in. The cold breezes and relaxing weather almost made me fall asleep there if not for one of the workers.
Mike came quickly to the open hut and called me out. "Mrs. Hanson, your dad demands your presence in the parlour on the last floor."
I sluggish got myself up from the seat in the hut. I shook my head to rub off the sleepiness from my face. When I realized, I faced Mike.
"Is my father back already ?" I asked.
"Yes, Mrs. Hanson," he answered. "He arrived a few minutes ago."
I felt a sharp jab of fear in my heart. It was unexpected and I was even surprised it happened. I don't know why but I'm sure it has something to do with the phone call earlier on.
"Thank you, Mike. I'll be going to see him then."
"You are welcome, Mrs. Hanson," he nodded. He walked back into the house. I stayed back for a bit and stretched myself a little. I didn't expect my father to be back so soon. I thought he would go to work after the meeting with the authorities. I guess I'm wrong.
I made my way into the house and got upstairs using the stairs. I wanted to stall and think of answers to questions my dad might ask. I wish I had gotten a heads up so I could conjure up answers much easier. It was too late but let's see what's happens.
After a slow pace, I got to the last floor finally. I walked towards the parlor but he wasn't there and I felt relieved. But there are two parlours on this floor so I went to the other and sure enough, he was there. Luckily, he was on a phone call and he was so occupied, he didn't notice me enter.
I just sat on one of the sofas and waited for him to finish. He had a lengthy talk but painfully, it came to an end. When he finished, he then realises I was with him the whole time.
"Sonya, you're here."
"You called for me, dad" I reminded.
"Oh yes, I did," he placed his phone done. He cleared his throat and faced me. "What was the meaning of what you did a while ago ?"
He looked serious enough and that made me tense. He can be a scary man sometimes.
"Forgive me, dad. It was a total mistake. I don't know what came over me at that moment," I pleaded sincerely.
"I was in the middle of something when you called," he went on. "And you annoyingly interrupted me with some trivial issue. Since when did you start caring about who I hired ?"
"I don't,"
"So why did you bother calling ?"
I didn't answer him. He breathed out slowly.
"Ever since I planned to handover the entire business to you, you have started to be a thorn in the flesh. Sonya, you are a grown woman, do the right thing."
"Ohk dad," I responded.
"I'm not going to dwell on this issue," he notified. "Your bodyguard will be discharged tomorrow. So you can safely go out now."
"Okay....."
"Also, don't worry this time round," my dad assured. "I have gotten him a licensed gun, so you'll be safe, in case of an attack."
"That's good to know,"
He waved out and I got up and left the parlor. I got to the staircase and halted. I expected more bombardment from my father but it looks like he's not in the mood for that. Good for me.
As I descended the staircase, my mind raced to Olivia. I haven't seen her for a while and I'm sure she's not gone yet. If there's one sure place I'm sure she will be in the house, that would be the bar room. I got to the first floor and went to the bar. Sure enough, she was there.
Olivia sat in front of the counter and her head was on the counter, facing the opposite direction. She had a wind glass in her hand and there was some wine in it. I walked over to her and as suspected, she was asleep. I took the wine glass from her hand and place it away from her before tapping her gently on the back.
"Olivia, wake up."
It took harder taps before she finally stretched out, awake and fully conscious. "What ? What happened ?"
"You were sleeping, Olivia."
"How long was I out ?" she quizzed.
"I don't know," I answered. "How long were you here ?"
She shook her head thoroughly. "I came here when I left you at the open hut. I decided to drink some wine and I can't remember when I fell asleep."
"I have been telling you that wine is alcoholic. Drinking too much can induce drowsiness." I complained.
"What do you know ? I fell asleep cause I'm exhausted." she defended.
"What did you do ?"
"Stress from work," she replied. "What do you want ? Are you here to whine about the guy again ?"
I took a seat. "Oh come on Olivia. I'm sorry about that. I know I can be hard sometimes but I'll try to control it. I'll keep my thoughts about him to myself."
Olivia shook her head and smiled. "This is not about him. This is about you. This is about you always trying to prove that you are always right whiles that's not true all the time. But it's okay, I'll get used to it."
"I didn't mean to put out that image of me towards you," I implored. "I'm not like that. I'll try to be better."
"You are still my best friend either ways."
"I'll try to be better," I repeated boldly.
"It's okay, I understand, Sonnie." Olivia laughed. "I could really use a hug right now."
I got to Olivia and hugged her warmly. I decided to make it rough and I squeezed her tightly. She retaliated and smacked me on my waist. I let go of her afterwards.
"I won't mind you," she chuckled.
I smiled. "I know. I won't let this cause problems again, okay ?"
"I've heard you dear," she said calmly. "I will be leaving now. I need to go home and get ready for work."
She stood up and I followed suit.
"You are going to work today ?"
"Oh yeah, I am." she affirmed. "I'll go to work around 3 and end at 7."
We walked out of the room and made our way towards the stairs. I was still taken aback. "You don't work on Saturdays, remember ?"
"Of course I don't. I just want to finish some unresolved issues today."
We got downstairs and exited the building. We made our way to the car park.
"That was unexpected but okay," I voiced out finally.
"Don't worry, it's a once-in-a-while thing."
We got to her car and it occured to me. "Where's Dennis ?"
"Oh, he left a long time ago," she responded. "After all, he came to see you, right ?"
We laughed together. "Oh well then, see you later girl."
"See you later, Sonnie."
She got to her car and held the door open and looked at me. "I feel dizzy, I think there was indeed alcohol in the wine."
"You see, I told you !" I exclaimed. "You are not fit for driving. Let me find a driver for you."
I was about to check on my phone and she smirked mischievously. "You believed in that lie ? You are so gullible...."
I rushed to the car to beat her but she closed it quickly and started the engine. I backed away and she was laughing in the car as she drove off. I watched her drive off, laughing too, until I couldn't see her anymore.
