Chapter 3 - Stolen

As soon as the King's words fell on the ears of the people, she gasped.

"After we made a united Empire, many things changed and no one can deny it." The King said with a little hint of sadness in his tone. "All the people who participated in the war had suffered and so have I."

The King looked at his son and continued, "The one who suffered the most has been my eldest who has participated in my mission from the age of 13." The King nodded his head as Prince Darcy rose from his seat.

"Prince Darcy was cursed by a witch and that made him seal his three-fourth power. And yet we all have experienced that he still had more power than his brother. The orbe had shown it, so I believe that it is only natural that the place of the Crown Prince will be given to my eldest."

"So the people of Orion Empire, cheer for your new Crown Prince. Prince Darcy."

As soon as the King said those words, Prince Darcy looked at his brothers who were happy for him. He knew that although cursed, his brothers were there for him.

"Crown Prince Darcy."

"Crown Prince Darcy…."

Prince Aeron and Prince Bren said and soon the whole throne room was filled with a congratulating chant. Although people were a little afraid of the Crown Prince, none could oppose his hold on the powers. The one who possessed the deadly power that could wipe out the whole county.

Evara was busy serving the customers their orders. She knew that it was going to be a hectic day but was it really supposed to be this busy?

"Evara, this has been here for more than 5 minutes. Do you expect the customers to wait?" The old lady said in irritation.

"Yes, mother..." Evara managed to say. Maybe the hectic schedule made her forget the words she had heard a few hours back.

Evara did not waste any time as she went to the counter and picked more dishes to serve.

"Who could have believed that the end result would be this."

"Yes, after so many years, he still managed to be the ultimate one in power."

"Prince Darcy might look like he likes his brothers but in fact, he is really cunning."

"Was it his plan all along? Imagine his power to come back..."

Evara could hear all of their discussion clearly. Although it was always in whispers. No one dared to say anything.

Evara was never interested in political affairs but not everything was as simple as it seems. She knew it from her personal experience.

Prince Darcy had many rumours surrounding him. He was the most powerful person but his powers were sealed at a really young age and everyone knew it. But he was still the most powerful.

'Just how powerful is the Crown Prince?' Evara had this thought but soon she came back to her normal work mode.

All she needed to do right now was to find a way to run away from here before the worst things happened to her.

Soon the night darkened and Evara could see the mother and aunt drunkenly going to their room to sleep. If it was any daily life, she would run to help them but now the situation was different.

Evara blinked her eyes as she took in the shadows. She bit her lips nervously as she was thinking what she was supposed to do now. She wanted to find a way out soon.

As soon as there was complete silence Evara rushed to her room with a small sack. Evara looked at the sack as she took a deep breath. The silver and copper coins peaked from the sack to her eyes.

Evara swallowed hard. It was the first time she had stolen something. But as soon as this thought flashed in her mind, Evara shook her head.

"This is not stealing. I am just taking my pay for all the work I have done over the years." Evara whispered to herself. Maybe she was trying to justify what she was doing.

A family can work for free but an unrelated person cannot. Evara knew this in her heart as she closed the sack and put it near her heart. Her hand clenched tightly as she swallowed hard.

Evara looked out the window. She knew that she had to run. Run far away and be free. 'But where will I go?'

Evara took a deep breath. She could not understand if she was supposed to take action now or wait a little.

'I need to make a move. What if Mother realises that some of the money is lost...'

As soon as Evara thought that, she turned around and took a small bag. She found an unknown courage in her as she started packing her clothes in a hurry.

'I cannot be found out. I need to run now... This is the only way for me to survive.'

Evara managed to get all her essentials as she took one last look at her room before carefully sneaking out of the house.

Now standing all alone in the middle of the night, Evara could not help but tear up. She did not want to cry out loud but the water would not stop.

Evara looked around. It was the middle of the night and the roads were empty. The silence was making her a little afraid. Evara looked up at the sky as she saw the moon shining brightly.

"At least someone is happy.." Evara whispered. "What should I do now? Where should I go now?"

Evara blinked and yet the water was still flowing. She tried hard to rub her eyes off but she still could not help.

"Should I go to see the water then..." Evara tried to smile as she started walking. Although there was no one on the road she did not feel alone. She is free for the first time.

But as she made her way to the shore she could see the back of the person standing looking at the sea. Evara could only see the person's back, and yet she could still feel the person's loneliness.

Someone who was going through a similar experience. Someone like her.
