Chapter 1 - Royal Ball

The grandeur of the royal masquerade ball shimmered under the resplendent chandeliers, casting a radiant glow upon the opulent attendees. Y/n, adorned in an emerald green silk gown that delicately hugged her figure, exuded an air of elegance. A matching piece of fabric adorned her eyes, intricately embellished with contrasting gems, concealing her identity as per the masquerade tradition. Her hair cascaded in silky waves, flowing gently down to her waist.

With hesitance born from her innate shyness, she stood near the grand staircase, her gaze wandering through the sea of masked faces. Y/n yearned for a partner to dance with but was apprehensive about approaching any of the masked princes.

The ballroom doors swung open with a flourish, ushering in an air of mystique. Two enigmatic males entered the grand hall, capturing the attention of the guests. Yet, Y/n's gaze was drawn to the raven-haired one among them. His mask concealed most of his face, but his cat-like eyes, with a hint of weariness, remained visible beneath it. He moved with a languid grace, his black pants contrasting with the flowy white shirt tucked in meticulously.

As Y/n's eyes wandered, she noticed the raven-haired man approaching a group of six other princes and several princesses gathered near the ornate balcony. The room was filled with the mesmerizing melodies of the orchestra, and couples swirled gracefully on the dance floor.

Her gaze momentarily shifted to a couple elegantly waltzing in front of her. However, as the music continued to weave its enchanting spell, she sensed someone's eyes on her. Slowly, almost lazily, she turned around and found herself locked in an inexplicable but undeniably positive gaze with the raven-haired stranger. It was as though fate had conspired to draw their eyes together, setting the stage for a night filled with intrigue and perhaps romance at this royal masquerade ball.

In that enchanted moment, time seemed to stand still. The faint, melodious notes of the orchestra played softly in their ears, creating a harmonious backdrop for the magical connection that had formed between Y/n and the mysterious raven-haired man. The world around them dissolved into a beautiful blur, leaving only the radiant ballroom lights illuminating their figures in a warm, golden glow.

Y/n's breath caught in her throat as her gaze remained locked with his. Her heart pounded in her chest as if trying to outdo the rhythm of the music. The warmth of a deep scarlet flush spread across her cheeks, mirroring the color of her racing heart. But what truly sent her stomach into joyful flips was the sight of the raven-haired man's ears, now tinged with the same rosy hue as her own cheeks.

She attempted to avert her gaze, to break the spell that held them in this magnetic connection, but it seemed that fate had woven them into its intricate dance. With deliberate grace, he began to move closer, his eyes never leaving hers. Each step felt like an eternity, drawing out the exquisite tension between them.

Finally, he stood before her, his tall figure towering over hers. Their eyes continued to meet with a delicacy that transcended words. With a soft, almost imperceptible smile, he bowed slightly, extending his hand toward her. His voice, like a gentle caress, broke the silence as he asked, "May I have this dance?"

Y/n's heart soared as she gazed into his eyes, her own filled with a mixture of anticipation and wonder. Without a word, she placed her hand in his, feeling the warmth of his touch, and allowed herself to be drawn into the dance of destiny that had begun with a single, magical moment of eye contact.

On the dance floor, Prince Yoongi and Y/n moved with a grace that mirrored their enchanted connection. As he guided her through the swirling dance, their eyes remained locked on each other, an unspoken promise of a night they both felt would change their lives forever.

Y/n's cheeks grew warmer with each passing moment, her attempt to break their gaze by looking at his shoulders thwarted as he gently placed a reassuring hand on her waist. His other hand held hers delicately, sending a thrill coursing through her. With hesitant fingers, she held onto his shoulder, her gaze flickering between their intertwined hands and his masked face.

Her subtle attempts to avert her gaze momentarily broke his trance, but his voice, soft and tender, reached her ears. "Don't," he murmured, a plea filled with amusement, causing her to meet his eyes once more. She couldn't help but smile, her eyes glimmering with the spark of a newfound connection.

His response was to gently squeeze the hand he held, and her heart fluttered at the gesture. His ears turned a shade of crimson in response to her actions, a reaction he couldn't hide. He chuckled softly to himself, a sound that felt like sweet music to Y/n's ears.

Finally, unable to contain his curiosity any longer, he spoke, his voice a soothing melody in the midst of the dance. "What's your name, princess?" he inquired, his words delivered with delicacy and affection. Y/n blushed even deeper and shyly turned her gaze away, hiding her face in her palm.

But before she could fully hide, his thumb gently rose her chin, and her eyes met his, wide with surprise. The electric rush that coursed through their bodies was undeniable. He maintained his regal aura, his voice filled with tenderness as he added, "The real one, princess."

Y/n felt herself melting under his gaze as she mumbled, "Y/n." The moment hung suspended in time, and then, she felt her soul leave her body as he uttered her name, "Y/n." She nodded in acknowledgment, her heart racing.

His thumb continued to caress her chin, and he smiled warmly. "I guess it's only fair for my princess to know my name," he said, his voice a gentle caress, "Yoongi." Y/n blushed even more at his comment and couldn't help but hide her face in her palm once again, causing him to chuckle lightly, the connection between them deepening with each passing moment.

As the night unfolded in a flurry of subtle giggles and heavenly bliss, Prince Yoongi and Y/n danced together, their hearts syncing to the rhythm of their shared moments. The dance floor became their sanctuary, a place where time had no dominion and where their souls could speak in the language of music.

But, as the evening wore on, Yoongi's friends called to him, tempting him with the prospect of a drink. With a soft smile, he placed his hand on Y/n's back and leaned in to ask, "You wanna join?" The subtle invitation hung in the air, a testament to their newfound connection.

However, Y/n, mindful of the social distance between them, demurred. "No, I'm alright here," she replied, a hint of hesitation in her voice. Yoongi hummed in understanding and nodded before excusing himself to join his friends.

As he engaged in a small conversation with his companions, his eyes kept wandering toward Y/n's figure standing in the distance. Time seemed to drag on, and the magnetic pull he felt toward her only grew stronger.

Suddenly, he noticed her slipping away from the ballroom, and his eyes widened in alarm. Without hesitation, he excused himself from his friends, rushing through the ballroom in search of her. His heart raced as he scanned the corridors, but she was nowhere to be found.

Turning to his right, he spotted a solitary figure with their back turned to him, standing alone in the moonlit backyard. He couldn't resist the irresistible pull that drew him toward that figure.

As he approached with cautious steps, a twig broke under his foot, and Y/n turned around, her delicate frown and her eyes filled with curiosity. The moment their eyes met, Yoongi swore his breath hitched. Before him stood an angelic presence, her mask held in her hands.

Her eyebrows knitted together in a delicate frown as she gazed at him in awe. Breaking the spell, she blessed his ears by softly calling out his name, "Yoongi... you there?" The sound of his name on her lips was like a melody, and he could do nothing but stand there, captivated by the ethereal beauty that had drawn him to her side once again.
