Chapter 15 - The Terrangian war

The Terrangian war, the famous war that ravaged the lands into ruins and almost caused the complete annihilation of humanity.

This was the most harrowing war to be ever experienced by humanity, surpassing even the devastating World War IV.

The Terrangian war was a war that was caused by the clash of two powerful factions that dominated most of the countries back at that time.

This war was a result of a clash between an organization called NASA and another organization similar in power to the former,.called UN.

NASA was a powerful and independent agency of United States of America ( a powerful country at that time) that researched and was responsible for aviation and spaceflights.

It was also responsible for the research of extraterrestrial species and items.

The UN on the other hand was an massive organization made up of independent states and was responsible for promoting international peace and security.

How and why these two organizations clashed was an information that had been long lost along the war and most scholars of this day had racked their brains over this matter and tried to explain some nonsensical theories but in the end no one could provide prove anything.

The Terrangian war left the world in a devastated state, leaving most lands barren with unfertile soil and turning them to inhabitable lands known by the term wastelands.

The toxic gases from the war mutated the animals and people that inhabited this lands turning them into dangerous and extremely powerful beast that threatened human lives.

After the war, the two powerful factions were no more and the world was left in chaos, this led into the emerging of a new organization to restabilize the world's stability.

This organization was called the World United Governments and once it was established it managed to calm the chaos of the scarring war bringing peace to all nations.

After the organization was in power, it rebuild the destroyed cities that were still habitable and transformed them into great cities, providing shelter for every single human.

As for the wastelands, the World United Governments, sealed off their entry and forbidden entry to everyone.

These ruins were classified as danger zone and only those who were given permission by a governor or someone with a higher position inside the World United Governments could enter.

Zack recalled all this information, while leaning on back left side of the window inside the gray armored truck.

Besides Zack there was another boy, who was sitted in the back at the right side of the armored truck. The young boy had disheveled short brown hair and dull looking eyes.

At the front there were two soidiers, one a female soldier with long black hair that was styled into a ponytail and the other was a middle aged man with dark green eyes and clad in a green uniform.

As the armored truck moved, Zack peered outside and saw that they had reached a fortified place that marked as the gatepost of the city.

Beyond this fortified gatepost layed the vast expanse of the wastelands.

The gatepost served as the boundary that sealed off the entry of the wastelands away from this great city.

Once one was beyond this area, they would no longer be in the safe comfort of the great city and would now be exposed to the harrowing dangers of the wastelands.

The armored truck reached the gatepost in less than a minute and soon halted before a gigantic black gate.

Two fierce looking male soldiers equipped with high tech firearm approached the vehicle with stern expressions.

The middle aged soldier who was driving the armoured truck, at this moment suddenly retrieved a few documents and gave them to the fierce looking soldiers.

These documents were an entry letter approved by the governor himself, approving that these people had permission to enter the wastelands.

Once the soldiers received the documents, they carefully checked their authenticity and once they they saw nothing false on it, they returned the documents to the middle aged man.

The other soldier made a hand signal to the soldiers at the gate and a few moments later the sounds of gears churning began to reverberate.

A metal clanking sound sounded and the the massive gate began to open, with half of it moving to the left with the other half moving to the right.

Zack at this moment, popped out his head through the car's window to get a clearer view.

This was his first time in seeing the wastelands so he couldn't help but be surprised.

Even Leon who always displayed an gloomy expression with disinterest to things, seemed to have his interest piqued.

This was a normal reaction, since most ordinary citizens of the great cities have never approached the wastelands and have always known about it through television news and documented books.

As Zack stared at the opening gate he finally saw the dangerous wastelands for the first time.

The lands were just as he had imagined them to be in all these years.

A scene of a vast expanse of land devoid of plants, trees, buildings, people and animals revealed itself before his eyes.

The land was a clear ground as far as he could see, the distance sun could be seen at the horizon.

Once the gate was fully opened, the engine of the gray armoured truck roared and the middle aged driver stepped on the pedal and the car moved towards the open gate.

As soon as the car moved past the open gates, they simply began to close on themselves.

A few moment later the truck soon halted before a group of soldiers that were guarding a large circular equipment.

This was a gate portal that led to the entrance of the military academy, Zack didnt know how the equipment managed to do it but all he knew was that it somehow was able to jump thorough space from one point of destination to another.

The portal was placed in the wastelands instead of the great city because of its energy consumption that affect the land's energy.

If the portal were to be placed inside the great city, it would absorb the land energy destroying it the process, the plants and trees would die.

As for where it gets its energy in the degraded lands of the wastelands, its from the corrupted land itself.

After the Terrangian war the land was left with large residual of energies that fuses onto the land itself.

The fusion of these energies and the land, produced the new creation of a unique mineral, called Spirit stone.

After the emergence of this stone, most of humanity's worries on fuel energy was instantly solved.

This was especially so after the emergence of the dimensional border and the Anomaly, which were also and are also located in the wastelands.

This unnatural phenomenal further increase the energy potency of the wastelands.

Once the car had halted, Zack, Leon and the two soldiers aligned from the car and moved towards the group of soldiers.

The group of soldiers were not that many and only consisted of twenty four people. They were all equipped with high tech firearms and every one of them was human with no android or robot to be found.

Walking towards the group, Zack could feel the difference between the great cities and the wastelands.

Whenever he was inside the great city, the weather was usually either, humid, calm, sunny or cold. The air of the great cities was always refreshing and clean as far as he was told, but here things were different.

The temperature was extremely hot, and Zack had learned from school textbooks that it never changed.

The air was hard to breathe in, and once he inhaled it, he would feel a tingling and irritating sensation in his lungs.

Zack and the others soon reached the grouped up soldiers and once he was close to them Zack soon noticed that almost all the soldiers present were wearing gas masks, with only a few not wearing.

This made Zack speculate that air here was probably toxic and contaminated.

One of the grouped up soldiers retrieved three gas masks from a tool box nearby and handed them to Zack and Leon.

The two boys obediently took the gas masks and wore them immediately.

Once he was wearing the mask, Zack couldn't help but wonder why the two soldiers who were accompanying him were not given one of the masks.

He was puzzled by the fact that there were also few other soldiers who were not wearing gas masks.

'Maybe they do not need them'

From the grouped up soldiers, a middle aged man with brown hair suddenly stepped forward and gave a salute to the middle aged soldier who was overseeing the two boy's transportation to the military academy.

"Major Ken! its nice too see you sir"

The man turned his gaze to the female officer accompanying the Major ranked soldier and said,

"The same for you too captain Sarah"

The female acknowledged the man and tersely nodded.

The middle aged officer, at this moment suddenly said,

"Sergeant Oscar, would you please provide these two kids travel to Academy base number 43"

The man replied respectfully,

"Yes sir!

The middle aged officer with the major rank, then nodded and suddenly said,

"Good, l am tired l am going to rest for while, have someone deliver some food to my tent.

Sarah lets go"

As soon as he said those words, the middle aged solider, began to walk away and the woman named Sarah quietly followed her from behind.

Sergeant Oscar then called one of the masked soldiers and instructed them to provide food to the major's tent.

Once he was done, he then instructed the other soldier to prepare the portal to coordination of Academy base number 43 so that they could sent the two boys.
