I was excited was all I could say. After getting up early from sleeping with Mel I ran back to my dorm room to shower tie back my hair and dress in my safety suit. Hannah was no where to be found and I could breath easy on that. Ever since I kissed her she'd been making more and more advances towards me despite the fact she clearly knew I was with Mel. The safety suit I put on was blue all of Class A were going to wear the same ones instead of the regular black and gray. By nine it was time to board the bus having our lovely instructor Michael back was a bend in my heart.
"Get your asses on the BUS!" He would yell and point towards it as if we couldn't see the big depressing gray bus that sat in the yard.
"Move it damn it I wanna see you run"
He looked none to happy either, I'm sure he went through a great deal getting this place ready for us but goddamn this wasn't boot camp.
On the bus I found Hannah past out on one of the seats, sitting next to her I pushed her hair back from her face to see if she was actually asleep, which she was drooling and everything, how long was she here?
It didn't take long for everyone to get on thanks to Michael insulting everyone that passed him we were soon on our way. As excited that I was that we got to go against another class deep down I was worried I might actually have to go against Mel it only made since. We were both ranked the highest in our classes of course they would put strongest against the strongest. But if I hurt him I'd shatter and I knew that if anyone hurt Asher I'd be mad beyond words and probably kill them. I didn't know love could feel this way making me so scared so afraid of losing him, it couldn't affect my training tho it can't this is what we are going to learn to defeat the our enemies and defend what little we had left to live, if I let my love for Mel get in the way of that we where both dead.
The first thing I noticed when we arrived was there was a lot a people and I had no idea why. I thought this was a just a sprawl between classes not a fantasy show for peoples amusement. Is this what they wanted to see us be hurt this way?
The bus stopped near the stage and Michael got up and began his yelling to get off the bus.
"All you assholes better give it all you got" he exclaimed pushing the last person off the bus. Hannah appeared next to me woken up and ready from the brawl.
"You excited" she asked.
"No"
"Why cause your boyfriend" she said in a mocking tone, I glared at her but didn't say a word cause she was right.
The stage was huge and divided into three sections the far left is where Class B will sit and the far right was where Class A will sit. The middle of the stage was empty with plenty of room. As we took the steps up I could see class B lining the other side all wearing their bright red safety suits. I started feeling my heart beating faster and faster and horrible chills and cold sweats crawling down my back. What the heck was this was I scared.
I shouldn't be I was one of the strongest they should be scared.
We all sat down lining the stage one by one. We had contesting numbers taped to our backs when we came up the steps and I was number twenty four the last person that would go up in our class. It made no difference to me that I was going on the stage last I could sit back a bit and keep my eye on Mel who I haven't even spotted yet. There was another podium off to the back of the stage where three human men sat up there with mics probably the announcers for the show. One was pretty tall the other skinny and short the third with sunken eyes and no hair. The skinny one sat in the middle with the others off to his side.
"Good morning ladies and gentlemen" he announced tapping the small mic in front of him making it echo through the stage.
"Today is an exciting day to see what are upcoming heros got for themselves. By training hard day by day here they are going to put it to good use. And we all know if they can't defeat a regular appointment they'll be no good when the real enemy comes. So be free to boo and awe them when they fail." He ended with a chuckle. I scowled this guy was enjoying this on top of that he had a voice for this type of stuff to get everyone hyped up for the coming show but had a face for the radio. The crowd roared with excitement putting me on edge making me feel a little sick to my stomach. Hannah came up beside me and threw her arms around my waist pulling her body against me.
"This will be fun" she said sounded like a little girl who just got a new doll to play with.
"Get off of me"
I tried to push her but she latched on even tighter making me lose my footing and stumble over on to my back. People watched us but no one said a word or stepped in to help. When she leaned in and kissed me I used my power and forced her off before I could even think making her fly on top of the stage. Everyone looked at her then to me and the announcer took this time to hype up the crowd again even though I'm sure he had no idea what just happened.
"Contestant number two since your up on the stage why don't you go first." He said his voice blasting over the speakers. Hannah stood up her shoulders dropped as if already defeated, her eyes found mine showing anger and determination, neither was a good mix on her.
"Can we have contestant number two from class B please"
A girl stepped up to the stage the same blue hair carrying a smaller build, she was pretty but had nothing on Hannah. The crowd roared with excitement as she stepped up and took her position.
Hannah's arms dropped down to her sides as she prepared herself. I was nerves for her as much as she pissed me off didn't mean I still didn't care some what for her, I had no idea how this was supposed to go down nor how anyone knew who won.
Hannah pulled her hands up the light shining from them becoming brighter and brighter the way she controlled her power was the same for all of us is but I didn't really know how her power worked since she was a healer. All they had was defendant magic or at least I thought and much to my surprise the beam of light she created in her hands shot out from before her hitting the girl pushing her back. But the blue haired girl must of been expecting that for she had in closed herself in a healing magic shield.
Healing magic one-o-one
The first thing you learn about healing magic is how to sustain your healing state. This is why they are known as a tank magic user good for protecting other and could occasionally shoot off attack magic spells. Enough to protect who their healing but not enough to defeat and enemy.
The girl rose her hands and shoot off the same attack which Hannah easily blocked. This went on for while back and forth thill Hannah rose her hands once more crossed her fingers and shot off multiple ones at once which the other girl could only block so many before breaking her shield pushing her off the stage. She fell back and didn't move.
The announcer raised his hand
"Contestant number two of class A have won"
The crowd cheered yelling Hannah's name as she walked off the stage straight over to me pulling me in for a hug. She looked exhausted the fight lasted over ten minutes proving they had the same power strength. I didn't pull away from her even when she slid her hands down to my waist. She breathed heavily against me.
"You did good" I said pushing her back and patting her head. She smiled kind of adorable like.
"Thanks"
She stood with me as we watched the other contestants go up one by one. It became pretty clear putting power type against their own power type was mistake for how long each battle wore on. When number fifteen was called Asher stepped up to the stage. This man has a real aura around him making his opponent look nervously at his fellow Classmates. Asher prepared him self and with one powerful attack spell sent his opponent flying off the stage crashing into the bottom of the podium. The crowd roared with excitement while the announcers stood in amazement at what just happened. Asher laughed and jumped up in the air throwing his fist up like he just won a lifetime battle. After that I breathed a little easier knowing he won and was off the stage. After him was contestant sixteen so I sat back and waited till my number was called and it was the first time I set my eye on Mel since we arrived. As we stepped up to the stage together I started to panic the feeling I kept inside of me overflowed everywhere until I was disgusted with myself. I hope he didn't see it the fear I felt, whatever showed in my eyes that I could no longer keep hidden. He took his position and I followed suit, his hair was tied back and he looked beautiful as always but something was off he looked tired and worn out like he'd been crying. Is that why I didn't see him this whole time until now cause he was hiding his tears.
He dropped his hands to his side reading up like we were taught and I did the same pulling the mana from the earth till I felt it circle around in my hands. He was ready to push and so was I. I raised my hands power coursing through me, Mel moved a little to the left just as the stage blew up throwing me backwards on to the podium. Sparks flew and the smell of smoke and flesh was strong, I could hardly see and my head was killing me making me stumble as I tried to stand. I needed to get to Mel it was all I could think about climbing over the burning stage. People screamed and ran in every direction not knowing where the threat came from. A couple of people from Class B where calling out to others that layed unconscious on the ground. The stage was broken up so bad if anyone was there they would have fallen through the middle but Mel was no where to be seen. The pain in my head suddenly flared as I felt blood seeping out of a wound I didn't realize I had. Hannah appeared beside me and tried to pull me away from the stage that was so hot from the fire but I kept trying to fight her even when she tried to heal me. My only clear thoughts where to get to Mel and make sure he was ok. In fact that was my last thoughts as I fell into a deep darkness no longer able to fight the pain that was tearing it's way through my head and body.
