Chapter 9 - Escaping The SA's

Nakul sat slumped on the floor of his disheveled laboratory, his eyes puffy from hours of crying. The grief and guilt over Ozwel's disintegration had consumed him entirely, leaving him paralyzed in a sea of regret. The weight of it all pressed down on him, making it hard to move or think.

Suddenly, a faint buzzing sound broke through the heavy silence. Nakul barely noticed it at first, dismissing it as just another distraction, perhaps a call that would go unanswered. But the buzzing didn't stop—it persisted for three long minutes until it finally pierced through the fog of his mind.

Reluctantly, Nakul dragged himself off the floor and walked over to the far side of the room, where his phone lay vibrating on a cluttered table. He picked it up, expecting to see a missed call, but instead, he was greeted by an odd sight. His phone's screen was black, yet there was a message illuminated on it.

"What is this? A text message?" Nakul muttered to himself, his brow furrowing in confusion.

The message was simple yet alarming: "Run! They are coming for you."

Nakul's heart skipped a beat. He stared at the text, trying to make sense of it. "What could it mean? Who's coming for me?"

As if in response to his question, the text on the screen changed right before his eyes: "It's late. You should have seen it minutes ago."

A cold chill ran down Nakul's spine. The words on the screen were unsettling, but what made his blood run cold was the fact that his phone wasn't even turned on. The device was dead—no power, no signal—yet these ominous messages kept appearing.

Nakul turned around, instinctively scanning the room as fear began to take hold. His pulse quickened, and his breath became shallow. Something was wrong—terribly wrong. The lab, once a sanctuary of science and innovation, now felt like a trap closing in on him.

Before he could fully grasp the situation, the door to his laboratory burst open with a deafening crash. Five heavily armed men stormed in, each wearing dark tactical gear. Their jackets bore the word "Polizei" in bold white letters, and they carried assault rifles aimed directly at Nakul.

"Get on your knees! Hands on your back!" one of them barked, his voice cold and commanding.

Nakul froze, his mind racing. These weren't ordinary police officers—they moved with the precision and ruthlessness of trained operatives. The realization hit him like a punch to the gut. They were here for him. But why? And how did they find him so quickly?

For a moment, time seemed to stretch out. Nakul's eyes darted to the phone in his hand, which now displayed a new message: "Escape. Secret path behind the containment chamber."

Nakul's heart pounded in his chest. He had seconds to make a decision, and hesitation would mean certain capture—or worse. He glanced at the containment chamber at the back of the lab, the one place he had always avoided after Ozwel's accident.

But now, that very place might be his only chance.

With a surge of adrenaline, Nakul made his move. He dropped to his knees as ordered but kept one hand on the floor, subtly inching towards the containment chamber. The officers, caught up in their own procedures, didn't notice his slight shift in position.

As soon as he was close enough, Nakul sprang up and dashed towards the chamber. The officers reacted immediately, shouting commands and opening fire. Bullets whizzed past Nakul, shattering glass and tearing through equipment, but he kept moving, fueled by sheer desperation.

Nakul reached the containment chamber and slammed his hand against the hidden panel on the wall. A narrow passageway slid open, revealing a dark, narrow corridor that led downwards. Without a second thought, Nakul threw himself into the passage, just as the officers reached the chamber.

The door to the secret path closed behind him, sealing off the passage and leaving the officers pounding on the walls in frustration.

Nakul tumbled down a series of steps, the darkness enveloping him as he descended deeper into the bowels of the facility. His mind raced with questions. Who sent him the messages? How did they know about the secret passage? And most importantly, what was waiting for him at the end of this escape route?

The air grew colder as Nakul continued down the narrow corridor. He could barely see his hand in front of his face, but the messages on his phone continued to guide him, illuminating the path with each new instruction.

"Turn left at the fork."

"Use the override switch to bypass the security grid."

"Descend the ladder to the sub-basement."

Nakul followed the instructions to the letter, moving with a newfound sense of urgency. His fear began to mix with curiosity—whoever was guiding him seemed to have intimate knowledge of the facility, and their warnings had already saved his life once.

Finally, Nakul reached the end of the corridor, where a heavy steel door loomed before him. His phone buzzed one last time: "Enter the code 7142 and press the green button."

The Text messager knew the security code of his own laboratory place which was terrifying for Nakul but he had no other choice but to trust it.

Nakul hesitated for a split second, then punched in the code. The door creaked open, revealing a small, dimly lit room filled with monitors, control panels, and equipment that he had never seen before. The room hummed with power, the screens flickering with strange data and unfamiliar symbols.

Nakul stepped inside, the door closing behind him with a soft hiss. The room felt both alien and familiar, like a forgotten relic from another time. The monitors displayed readings and coordinates, some of which seemed to match those that Max had been studying earlier.

Then, the final message appeared on his phone: "Stay hidden. They won't find you here. The Syndicates must be watching."

Nakul's breath caught in his throat. The Syndicates he had heard whispers of them, rumors of a powerful organization that operated beyond the reach of any government or agency. But he had never imagined that they were real, or that he would become entangled in their web.

As Nakul stood alone in the hidden chamber, the reality of his situation began to sink in. He was now a target—pursued by forces far beyond his comprehension, caught up in a game where the stakes were nothing less than life and death.

But for now, he was safe. Hidden away in the depths of his own laboratory, guided by an unseen hand, Nakul knew that the real battle was just beginning.

While Nakul was done with all this running away he noticed the tone of the texts that were a bit familiar to him calm, reassuring, familiar. It was almost as if...

"Ozwel?"

Nakul whispered into the void, his voice trembling with a mix of fear and hope.

"Is that you?"

Another message appeared instantly.

"Yes, Nakul. It's me. Keep going."

Nakul's heart leaped in his chest. "How was this possible? Ozwel was gone, disintegrated in the quantum accident that should have ended everything"

And yet, here he was, guiding Nakul from beyond, from somewhere far beyond the reach of ordinary reality.

"Ozwel,"

Nakul said, his voice choked with emotion.

"how... how are you doing this? Where are you?"

The screen flashed another message.

"I'm in the fourth-dimensional tesseract. My consciousness broke through the barriers during the accident. I can see and interact with multiple realities now since I have been to the quantum universe itself now I am free to travel at any reality since I am not abide by the Dimensional laws a dimensionless being. "

Nakul's mind reeled. The fourth-dimensional tesseract was theoretical a higher-dimensional space that humans could barely comprehend. And yet, Ozwel was there, existing in a realm beyond their wildest dreams.

"But how are you communicating with me?"

Nakul asked aloud, feeling like a child lost in a world of giants.

"The tesseract allows me to interact with lower dimensions. Your phone is just a medium ,my thoughts are reaching out to you directly through it. Nakul, I can see things you can't even imagine, but it's not safe for me here either. The Syndicates know something is wrong, and they're coming for you because they think you're responsible."

Nakul's pulse quickened.

"What do I do, Ozwel? How do I escape this?"

"You have to keep moving," Ozwel's message continued. "There's a backdoor out of this facility that leads to an old escape route. Use it and get to the safehouse I've marked on your phone."

Nakul looked at the screen, seeing a map with a glowing dot indicating the safehouse location. His mind raced as he realized the gravity of the situation. The Syndicate squad were closing in, and time was running out.

"Ozwel, why are they after me?"

Nakul asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

"Because they think you have the key to accessing higher dimensions. They think you can replicate what happened to me. They fear what you might unleash."

Nakul's breath caught in his throat. He had never intended for any of this to happen. He just wanted to bring back his family, to reverse the cruelty of fate. But now, the weight of his actions was crushing him.

"I'm so sorry, Ozwel," Nakul said, tears streaming down his face. "I didn't mean for any of this. I just wanted to save them… and now, I've lost you too."

The phone buzzed softly, almost as if Ozwel was comforting him.

"Nakul, you didn't lose me. I'm still here, and I'll do everything I can to help you. But you must stay strong. You have to survive this."

Nakul took a deep breath, wiping away his tears. He knew Ozwel was right. There was no time for self-pity or regret. He had to keep moving, keep fighting, just as Ozwel had done.

"Alright, Ozwel," Nakul said, steeling himself. "I'll do it. I'll make it out of here. But promise me you'll stay with me."

"I promise, Nakul. I'm with you every step of the way. Now, go."

With renewed determination, Nakul followed the map on his phone, slipping through the hidden corridors of the lab. He could feel Ozwel's presence guiding him, a comforting force in the midst of chaos. The path ahead was treacherous, but Nakul knew he wasn't alone.

As he reached the escape route, he paused for a moment, looking back at the dark, empty lab that had once been the center of their dreams. A wave of sadness washed over him, but he quickly pushed it aside. There was no turning back now.

With one final glance at his phone, Nakul slipped into the night, leaving behind the life he had known. The road ahead was uncertain, but with Ozwel by his side, he felt a glimmer of hope. They had already defied the impossible once before—together, they could do it again.
