"Speed Star is who I am"
Speed activated her coms.
"Hey Chuck. It's Speed Star, found your missing rhino. You may wanna send someone downtown to come pick it up", she spoke as she sat down on the conscious body of Charge.
Speed Star then turned off her coms and then looked at her battered and broken knuckles. It was one hell of a fight, and if she was being honest, she's not entirely sure how she managed to stay alive, then again with everything she had experienced her entire life, it was could be said to be a miracle that she managed to make it through this long. Yeah, being fast on your feet didn't always mean your where fast enough to evade all forms of danger, especially when your job description requires you to jump head first in to it.
"Me, get scared, I'm the Speed Star. The fastest hero in Hilltop if not the entire world, I never get scared"
She couldn't help but snicker to herself as she wondered how she practically looked in to the eyes of a child and blatantly lied when in reality whenever she wore that suit and that make, her heart begins to race and she get scared, frightened and afraid, with a million thoughts racing through her head every second. What if she not fast enough to get to them in time, what if she fails, what someone gets hurt, what if the villain's too strong…and many more.
She then looked at Charged and then let out a tired sighed, recalling the recent battle and how for a moment she thought she was done for. Recalling how both hers and Charge's fist collided and how she felt every bone on her arm on verge of shattering but then, a puff of steam escaped Charge mouth and then he collapsed.
The big guy had finally ran out of steam, lucky for her because she was basically running on fumes. Yeah, even when facing Charge, underneath the mask, she was terrified but not for the usual reason. Usually when facing a super villain, crook, criminal, or even a petty thug, her main concern is to keep the innocent civilians safe not matter what it takes, even if it meant being pummeled, slice and diced, or having a suffer 12 degree burns. That was what a hero was meant to do right, be the pinnacle of selfless and humility. But not just this fight with Charge, but with all recent fights she found her being more cautious and hesitate to risk herself in dangerous situation where she normally wouldn't think twice before leaping into, ignoring whatever life threating dangers she was jumping in to.
Thinking back to her uncharacteristic cautiousness and fear couldn't help but snicker a little because despite the fear she felt in her heart and ran head first in to danger, moving at more than a hundred mile per hour, she couldn't help but push herself more to the absolute limit because of that very fear she felt grip on to her heart. Honestly, it had been quite a while since she felt a fear so intense, and if she was being honest, she kind of missed it because it wasn't just fear, it was a reminder that she had someone back home she need to return to, reminder that she was needed not as Speed Star but Daniela.
Recalling that fateful day she found Exelirus, conscious, his body twitching on controllably with blue spark trickling through his body, and how from the very moment she laid eyes on him she felt her entire world change.
*Sigh*, Speed Star was a hero who always rushed in to save the day, and was willing to do whatever it took to protect her city but she never thought about herself. Each time she had to fight against a maniacal psychotic super villain, crooks and criminals, she never thought about what would happen if she failed and one day one of them managed to get the drop on her and…
*Sigh*, those thoughts rarely ever crossed her mind, and even when they did, she honestly didn't care, after all, apart from being Hilltops hero, she didn't really have any reason to keep going, at least she didn't before he came along.
Speed Star took in a breath clench her blood fist before smiling and looking up at the starry sky above her head and for the first time in a long time, she true genuine smile formed on her face as she thought about her life and the road ahead. Looking forward to living a long life and watch her little Bluey grow, even though a ting of fear crept in to her heart at the uncertainties her life as a hero may bring but she was determined, come what may, be it a world conquer or a freaking god, she would always fight to make sure no matter what happens she would always race back to home to him.
The next day Exelirus awoke to the buzz of the alarm clock. He then proceeded to get ready for the, bath, brush his teeth put on his school uniform and *sigh* once again activate the holocloaker, and watched at his bright blue hair vanished before his eyes. Making his way out the door, heard the sounds of pots and pans clanging along with the simmering of the stove. Making his way down the stairs and spot a familiar blur racing back and forth from the kitchen on to the dining room.
Exelirus couldn't help but smile at the sight, thinking that he didn't have to wake her up this time.
"Morning Daniela", Exelirus greeted as made his way to the dining to see the massive spread laid before him on the dining table.
"Morning Bluey", Daniela retort as zoom past him and placed the final plate no the dining.
Exelirus then took seat with Daniela joining him however before any of them could dig in Exelirus noticed the bandaged on wrapped around her wrist.
"What happened to you wrist?" asked Exelirus concern etched in his voice.
"I ran head first in to a charging rhino", said Daniela.
"What's a rhino?" asked Exelirus.
"Walking breathing tank with horn on its forehead", replied Daniela.
"What?" replied Exelirus confused.
Daniela just smiled and nodded her head before saying, "Nothing, let's eat".
The both of them then proceed to devour full course meal big enough to feed a family of five in just a few brief seconds.
"*Burp*, That definite hit the spot", Daniela spoke upon finishing their meal with Exelirus wearing a satisfied look on his face before letting out a burp of his own causing Daniela to giggled.
"Come on. Let's get going. We don't want to risk you being late like last time", said Daniela as she got along with Exelirus.
They then proceeded to make their way out the door and once out Daniela held on to Exelirus. Her body then sped with Exelirus instinctually following with his body crackling with blue sparks at time slowed down around them.
"Daniela", he spoke, his voice laced with a little bit of fear.
"One step at a time", she spoke with warm smile on her face, reassuring him.
"One step at a time", Exelirus spoke, taking in a deep breath and taking a single step forward with Daniela right by his side, and another then another, and soon they began to make their way through the forest and before he knew it they had made it on to the main road. They then trekked without their speed on foot, all the way to the nearest bus stop and from there they took them all the way to Exelirus's school.
"Well, I'm off", Exelirus spoke with a slight smile on his face as he made his way to the school's entrance.
Daniela just flashed a warm smile his way as watched him go.
"Hey Bluey", Daniela called out to Exelirus, causing him to turn to face her, and then, moving to fast for him to see, Daniela raced to him embraced him tightly in warm and loving hug, immensely shocking him.
She then pulled away from the hug and then looked at him, a happy smile on her face before saying, "Have a great day at school".
She then ruffled up his hair little.
"Okay", Exelirus spoke, immensely taken aback by the hug, though he couldn't say he hated the embrace.
Exelirus then turned away from Daniela continued his journey towards school with Daniela remaining on that spot and watch him leave.
She then heard watch beep.
Letting out a tired sigh before zooming off to go save the day.
