Chapter 5 - 5: Chill Night In 2

Sita and Vanessa were deep in conversation, laughter punctuating their shared stories, when Vanessa suddenly adopted a devilish grin.

"Hey, you know what? I've got a surprise for you," she said, a mischievous glint in her eyes.

Sita, curious and slightly suspicious, raised an eyebrow. "A surprise? What kind of surprise?"

Vanessa leaned forward, her voice taking on a conspiratorial tone. "Well, I happen to have invited a friend over to join us tonight.

Vanessa's grin widened, as she added, "And I think you'll really like him. He's smart, he's charming, and he's got an amazing sense of humor. Oh, and he's..." She paused for dramatic effect. "Single."

Sita's eyes went wide as the realization sank in. "Wait a minute. You invited a guy over? To our girls' night?" She glanced around, half expecting a handsome stranger to materialize out of thin air.

Vanessa sat back, still smirking. "Yup. And trust me, you'll love him. He's super laid back and he'll totally fit in with our vibe. Plus," she added, lifting her wine glass in a mock toast, "He brings his own wine, so he's already a winner in my book."

Sita couldn't help but chuckle, though a part of her was starting to feel a bit uneasy about this unexpected guest.

Vanessa's eyes glittered with mischief as she took another sip of her wine. "Now listen, Sita. I've hyped you up to him, okay? So, you've got to make a good first impression. Go change into something nice, something that makes you feel confident and beautiful. I'll be the wingwoman." She smiled slyly. "We'll make this the best night ever."

Sita, now irritated, looked straight at Vanessa with a firm gaze. "Vanessa, I told you not to invite anyone over. This was supposed to be our night, just the two of us. How am I supposed to relax and have a good time when there's a stranger hanging around?"

Vanessa sighed, her playful mood waning. "Sita, I'm sorry. But I thought it would be fun to introduce you to someone new. You know I've been worried about you. This was my way of helping you move forward."

The two friends fell silent, the weight of Vanessa's words hanging in the air between them like a heavy fog. The music continued to play, but the joyous notes seemed to echo hollowly off the walls, devoid of the energy and excitement that had filled the room only moments before.

Sita stared into the bottom of her wine glass, her mind racing. She knew Vanessa meant well, but she couldn't help feeling angry and betrayed. How could her friend do this to her?

Vanessa's laughter erupted like a sudden thunderstorm, rolling across the room and filling the space with its electric energy. She doubled over, holding her stomach as she struggled to catch her breath, her eyes sparkling with mirth.

"Oh my god, Sita! Your face!" she managed to choke out between fits of laughter. "You should've seen yourself, all worried and uptight. There's no guy, no date, nothing! It was just a prank."

Sita gaped, her initial anger melting away as realization dawned on her.

Sita let out a long, slow breath, her body relaxing as the tension drained from her. "Vanessa, you're such a brat," she said, her tone softening. "I swear, one of these days I'm gonna prank you right back, just you wait."

Vanessa was still grinning, but the laughter had started to subside. "Hey, what can I say? I couldn't resist. But, seriously, you need to lighten up a little.

"Look, I know you're going through a tough time," Vanessa continued, her expression turning serious. "But you can't let that stop you from enjoying life. And that includes having a little fun with your best friend." She winked playfully. "Just consider it practice for when the real thing comes along."

Sita rolled her eyes, but couldn't help smiling. "Fine, fine. You've made your point. But next time, warn me before you pull a stunt like that, okay?"

As Vanessa's laughter began to fade, she wiped a tear from her eye, still amused by her successful prank. But before she could reply, Sita's expression shifted, her face taking on a sly grin.

"You know, Vanessa, there's something I wanted to give you," she said, glancing towards her bedroom. "I was holding on to it for the perfect moment, but now seems like as good a time as any."

Vanessa raised an eyebrow, a smirk forming on her own face. "Oh?

"Come on," Sita insisted, her grin widening. "It's just in my bedroom. It's a bracelet, a really beautiful one. I think you'll love it." She gestured towards the room, her eyes twinkling with mischief.

"Hmm, okay. You've got my curiosity piqued," Vanessa replied, her interest clearly piqued. She rose from her chair, following Sita towards the bedroom door.

As they entered the room, Sita closed the door behind them, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "So, I'm gonna need you to close your eyes," she said, her voice filled with feigned seriousness. "It's tradition."

Vanessa chuckled, raising her hands to her eyes. "Alright, alright. Eyes are closed."

Sita couldn't help but laugh as she watched Vanessa's eager anticipation. "Okay," she said, reaching for a small box on her dresser.

As Vanessa stood there, eyes still squeezed shut, Sita's grin reached new heights. "Oh, Vanessa," she giggled, "You are such a little brat, you know that? There is no bracelet." She shook her head, still laughing. "I just wanted to prank you back!"

Vanessa's eyes shot open, her smile instantly shifting to a look of mock-indignation. "You little...! I can't believe you did that to me!" She chuckled, her laughter quickly joining Sita's. "I guess I deserved it."

As Vanessa absorbed the realization of Sita's successful prank, her gaze turned mischievous once more. She gave Sita a sly look, then moved forward, planting a quick slap on Sita's bum. "So soft, Sita!" she teased, her tone still playful. "You've been sneaking some extra squats in at the gym, huh?"

Sita yelped in surprise, laughing along with Vanessa. "Hey, that's not fair! You know I don't have time for that. It's just natural, babe," she quipped.

Sita, still couldn't resist the opportunity to give Vanessa a taste of her own medicine. She lunged forward, slapping Vanessa's bum with a satisfying smack. "Take that, V!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with glee.

Vanessa squealed with laughter, playfully pushing Sita away. "You're asking for it, Sita!" she cried, jumping forward and delivering her own return volley.

The two friends, caught in a frenzy of laughter and playful slaps, tumbled onto the bed, pummeling each other with pillows and giggling uncontrollably.

As their playful bickering came to an end, Sita and Vanessa found themselves sprawled across the bed, breathless from laughter and surrounded by a sea of pillows.

"Oh man," Sita wheezed, a smile still plastered across her face. "We're such children."

Vanessa nodded, wiping a tear from her eye. "Yeah, but it's the best kind of childishness." She gave Sita a gentle nudge. "I'm glad we did this.
