The sky was overcast as the sun began to set, casting a warm, golden light through the clouds. The whole sky glowed with a beautiful yellow hue, and a gentle breeze stirred the air. Yanz turned to the child and asked...
-"First of all who are you? What's your name, it'd be easier to communicate"
-"M..my name is Ceph"
-"Ok Ceph, my name is Yanz. Like I already told you before, my parents lived in a distance from this village but unfortunately they died some days ago. I couldn't live alone so i came here"
The kid was breathing heavily, so whatever Yanz was saying he just nodded and listened to it.
-"So, w..what do y..you want from me?"
-"Yes, you were talking about some 'sky people' earlier. Who are they and why do you want revenge?"
He was very scared, he couldn't think clearly.
-"Ceph, i won't hit you if you do as i ask. Sit straight and tell me about it"
-"o..ok"
Ceph tried to calm himself down a bit but he was still shaking. He who fell on his back, now was sitting. Yanz sat in front of him to receive answers.
-"W..well this is common knowledge who the sky people are. They are people who live up there"
He pointed right up in the sky.
"Where? you're just pointing at the sky, there's nothing but clouds"
-"Up there, t..there is an island above the clouds, floating in the air"
Giving a froun, yanz angrily said
-"Do you look like im trying the joke here!!?"
-"N..n..no, im telling the truth. I don't know how there is an island floating. T..there live people on that island, we call them the sky people. They can use magic, that is what makes them superior to us."
-"Magic?"
-"Y..yes, they can use sorcery. Every four months three sky people dressed in complete white and golden clothes come down to take all our food harvest leaving us with one fourth or even less sometimes"
-"What? Why don't they just grow crops up on their island?"
-"I..i don't know. The elders say that it's probably because it would hurt their pride to do a lowly work like that, or they don't have any area for crop fields up there but nobody really knows except them"
-"Hmm, so why don't you guys fight back? Everyone here is completely starving"
-"Are you crazy!? How do you expect us to fight against those magician monsters."
Yanz was really confused.
-"Wait, can you guys not use magic?"
-"Hah, if we could why would we be starving right now?"
-"Ok, it makes sense. You guys have no way to ever fight back"
-"Why are you saying it like that, you're in the same boat as us. You'll starve your entire life"
-"Well anyway, thanks for the information. Here, take it as a reward"
Yanz hands him a piece of jerky that he picked out from his pocket
-"C'mon Hazel, lets go"
Yanz put his hand down, palm up side and Hazel ran on his hand and climbed up his arm and sat on his shoulder
-"W..what!? H..bow did you get meat, and why are you giving such a precious thing that easily? Y'know you can die if anyone comes to know you have food. It'd be a huge trouble"
-"Aa, i didn't think of that. Don't tell anyone about this"
The kid had a shocking expression
-"How can you just say that and leave? What if i tell everyone?"
-"Well, if you do then what can i do. It's not like i can kill you either"
-"W..well i guess you're really not one of the sky people, those bastards would tourcher me until i die if i ever even tried to speak to them informally"
Yanz listened to it and started walking and said
-"Ok bye"
-"Wait, where are you going? Do you even have a place to stay?"
Yanz wanted to say yes because he can live in the house where he first woke up but it would blow his cover so he replied
-"No"
-"Then where are you even going?"
Yanz replied to it
-"I don't really know, I'll find some place to stay"
-"You can live with me, only my mother lives with me so you can stay with us until you find somewhere to stay. This village is really populated so it'd be hard to"
Yanz smiled
-"Thank you, but why are you helping me? We were just fighting a couple moments ago"
Ceph replied with a serious expression
-"I know how it feels to lose a parent. My fathe....anyway, lets go to my home first"
Yanz walked up to Ceph and gave him his hand. Ceph took his hand and got up.
-"Follow me,"
Ceph said as he started walking.
Yanz looked at the large farm fields and asked,
-"How are they growing so many crops? I never saw a single river anywhere."
-"You really don't know anything, do you? To be honest, I have never seen a river. I've heard about it from my mother when she used to tell me stories that long ago, before the Sky People started their oppression, there were these long streams of water, but they dried up. But that was hundreds of years ago."
-"So how do you get water now?" Yanz asked.
-"There's a huge well right close to the farm fields. The Sky People fill it up once a year. We can use as much water as we want; the well is too deep to run out. Even after a whole year, it still doesn't get empty."
-"They probably make water with magic too, huh?"
-"Squik,"
Hazel made a noise, agreeing with Yanz.
-"Oh, by the way, what's that?"
Ceph asked.
-"Her name is Hazel. She's a squirrel."
-"A squirrel?" Ceph said, confused.
-"You've never heard of a squirrel?"
-"No,"
Ceph replied.
-"Well, just think of her as a companion. She's really intelligent too,"
Yanz told him while petting Hazel.
-"Nice to meet you, Hazel. I'm Ceph," Ceph said with a friendly tone.
-"Squik!"
Hazel replied happily.
-"I think she likes you,"
Yanz said.
Ceph stopped in front of a wooden house. It wasn't as bad as the other houses Yanz saw in the village, but it was still run down.
-"Here we are, this is my home."
The walls had tiny cracks, but that was the only bad thing about it from the outside. The house was not big, but it wasn't small either. This house stood out a little from the other houses.
