Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

The Davis family was a small household, not only small but also unable to withstand any blows. So when Alan stepped through the door of the Davis home with a serious expression, Blanche's father nearly fell to the ground, almost crawling.

"Mr. Alan, what brings you here? Your visit to our humble abode is truly…"

"Enough." Alan had never liked to chat much with the other members of the Davis family.

He remembered clearly how much the Davis family disliked him back then.

Blanche's father's face turned red, perhaps out of shame for what had happened back then, so he awkwardly stood to the side.

However, Blanche's mother warmly welcomed Alan, "Long time no see! What brings you here? Are you looking for Blanche…?"

The Davis family was now on the brink of bankruptcy, so they had to be more enthusiastic toward Alan, the big investor. The past was the past; in this special time, how could they not change their attitude?

Alan frowned. He greatly disliked Blanche's mother, but in order to find Blanche, he had no choice but to say, "No need for pleasantries. Where is she?"

Of course, he was referring to Blanche.

Blanche's mother was still unaware that Blanche had left and casually said, "Blanche will be back soon. Mr. Alan, please wait a moment; I'll call her and urge her to return."

Alan crossed his arms. He was curious to see how Blanche's mother would urge Blanche.

On the other end of the line, the phone rang repeatedly, but no one answered. Blanche's mother silently cursed Blanche for being so ungrateful, disappearing at such a time.

"There's no need to call. You won't get through," Alan said coldly, still with his arms crossed. "Blanche has already left with Jason, and as for where they went…" Alan's gaze flickered with a chilling intensity, "that remains unknown."

Alan had sent people to search for Blanche, practically turning the entire city of New York upside down, but there was still no trace of her. If that was the case, there was only one possibility…

Blanche had left New York City.

New York City was where Blanche had lived her entire life. If she left here… she would escape Alan's control. Thinking of this, Alan couldn't help but clench his fists… no matter how deep he had to dig, he would find Blanche.

Upon hearing that Blanche had left, Blanche's mother immediately screamed, "Impossible! She would never abandon us and leave!"

Blanche was the Davis family's cash cow. Since Alan had come, it meant he still cared about Blanche. If they could get them back together, the Davis family would have hope!

"Mr. Alan, don't worry. Blanche would never leave us. As soon as I get in touch with her, I will definitely let you know."

A mocking smile appeared on Alan's lips, "How come I never noticed how enthusiastic you are before?"

Blanche's mother blushed, rubbing her hands together, "In the past, I didn't recognize your importance… I've realized my mistake now, Mr. Alan. I hope you can overlook our past grievances and forgive us. Blanche actually cares about you very much. When she was pregnant, I thought it was someone else's child, so I made her terminate the pregnancy. Blanche was adamant against it, which is how we ended up with Jason. Mr. Alan, just look at how adorable Jason is, and how much he resembles you…"

Alan loosened his clenched fists, but the coldness on his face remained. "No need for flattery. I'm only looking for Blanche to get the child back. As for whether the Davis family can make it, you can think about that yourselves."

"Yes, yes…"

Just because he couldn't reach Blanche didn't mean her family couldn't contact her. Alan would use every means possible to find her until he succeeded.

Leslie had obtained the surveillance footage first. She saw Blanche boarding a ship with Jason and couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.

Since they had left this place, no one could stop her from being with Alan.

"Alan, the media outside is speculating about why the wedding was canceled. Shouldn't we come up with a way to resolve this?"

Alan didn't even look up; he had a massive intelligence network at his disposal, and he was searching for Blanche's whereabouts through these sources.

Leslie watched this and felt somewhat unwilling. "Alan, the most important thing for you right now is the Smith Group. If this matter isn't handled well, it will also affect the company."

Leslie didn't want Alan to be preoccupied with Blanche; she could only divert his attention with other matters.

Alan's long fingers tapped rhythmically on the glass table. He looked up at Leslie, "The bride suddenly fainted just before the wedding, and the ceremony was canceled due to unforeseen circumstances. How does that affect anything?"

This question left Leslie speechless. It seemed Alan was determined to remarry Blanche. What was so good about that woman? Wasn't it just that she had given Alan a child?! Leslie felt resentful; since that was the case…

"Alan, I know where Blanche went."

Alan looked up.

"I noticed how anxious you were, so I paid attention to some movements. A friend of mine works for an airline, and she said she saw a woman with a child boarding an international flight. It seems to be the Blanche and Jason we're looking for."

Since Alan was so intent on finding her, she would mislead him in the wrong direction. By the time Alan searched abroad for a long time, Blanche would have long disappeared from sight, and then she could naturally be with Alan…

Alan looked at her, and Leslie's gentle eyes seemed to convey how understanding she was.

The damp sea breeze lifted Blanche's long hair, and she felt a sense of peace. The intersection of the blue sky and the sea was the freedom she desired.

"Mommy, look! The uncle on the deck gave me a shell bracelet," Jason exclaimed, holding up the bracelet for Blanche to see.

Blanche patted his little head, "Did you thank the uncle?"

"Of course I did! Mommy said that one should be polite," Jason said, playing with the shells in his hands. "Hey, what's this?"

Jason looked over, noticing a necklace hanging from the shell, which seemed quite valuable.

"It must have been dropped by that uncle just now. I'll go return it to him."

"Mommy will go with you."

There were many businesspeople on the ship, dressed in high-end suits, wearing luxury watches, and toasting with champagne. To Blanche, it was difficult to distinguish these people; although they looked different, at a glance, she couldn't recognize who was who. If Jason mistook someone for the wrong person, it would be quite embarrassing.

"Uncle, is this your necklace?" Jason asked a man, grabbing his attention.

The man shook his head.

Sure enough, even Jason couldn't recognize him. Blanche shook her head and smiled. She was just about to go find someone on the ship to help her ask around when she was drawn to a strange figure nearby.

"What's going on?! Where's the stuff we agreed on?!" an anxious male voice asked.

"Don't be anxious. There are so many people here; I can't just make a move," another voice replied.

"What do you mean you can't make a move? We only have this one chance. If we fail, Mr. Alan will definitely come after us."

Hearing the name "Mr. Alan," Blanche's heart involuntarily tightened. Alan? Has he found them so quickly?

Blanche instantly became anxious. She never expected that even in this vast ocean, Alan would manage to track them down. Now, with nowhere to go, what should she do?

Blanche bit her lip in frustration. If she could find a yacht to escape, perhaps she could evade Alan's search, but wouldn't that be too obvious?

As she was pondering her options, she heard the man say, "I've already copied the technical equipment, but it's being closely monitored over there, so I can't take it out right now."

"Even if you can't take it out, you need to find a way. Mr. Alan's success depends on the next chance!"

Hmm? Blanche sensed something unusual. This Mr. Alan…

"Alright, there are so many people on the ship. If we meet, we'll be discovered at any moment. Let's communicate by phone if there's anything. I can't talk to you for long; there are Wilson family members everywhere on the ship. I'm leaving!"

Blanche squinted her eyes. The Wilson family? Is it the famous Wilson family?

Blanche looked at the man, her thoughts swirling, and suddenly had an idea.

Since there were Wilson family members all over the ship, hiding under their protection to evade Alan wouldn't be a problem…

The "Mr. Alan" those two men mentioned earlier probably wasn't Alan. Could it be Barnett?

Barnett Scott, the president of KM Company, was a powerful figure. Under his management, KM was not to be underestimated. Blanche had heard of Barnett because her father often sought cooperation with various companies. Although he often faced setbacks, there were those who extended a helping hand, and Barnett was one of the people who had provided some assistance to the Davis family.
