The three were shocked by what they heard; they could not believe that it was true. After all, it was known that most beast monsters would not lay their eggs near any other living beings other than those that they trusted.
As the group of mercenaries numbering about fifty finally disappears from their location, the trio comes out of their hiding spot with gleaming eyes.
"Do you think that it is true?" Bryan asks.
"I think so, but unfortunately, we are not strong enough to contend against those groups." Daniel sighs. He can sense multiple dangerous auras from those groups, and one of them even carries a scent of death.
"How strong do you think they are?" Richard was reluctant to give up; that was a chance for them to become Beastmasters.
"Hmm, their leader is at least a professional at Bronze Rank." Hearing this, the two freeze as they slump their shoulders in bitterness.
"Stop complaining; we are still young. As long as we are successful in our hunt and become peak Iron Rankers, we can risk it and hunt on a hunting ground infested with beast monsters." He pats the shoulders of his two friends as they go to another location written in one of the books Daniel read.
"Finally! We found one!" Bryan screams, only to be pushed to the ground by both Daniel and Richard. The two of them gesture for him to be quiet.
"That is a Wind Roach! It is one of the cowardly types of beast monsters; they are known for their speed and their ability to control other roaches to spread diseases." Richard explains it to him.
"Hmm, it is smaller than expected, but no worries, Bryan, you are responsible for killing it; ready your weapon." Seeing the size of their target, Daniel whispers his instructions to them.
"Richard, I want you to make a loud noise near the wind roar; I will be responsible for chasing it towards Bryan. Are you two ready?" The two nod their heads, both nervous and excited.
They had killed wild beasts before, but they had never hunted a beast monster all on their own; fortunately, their first target was a cowardly roach, not strong and violent ones.
Richard lifts his shield and smashes it to the ground, causing a loud noise to ring throughout the silent ruin. The Wind Roach instantly senses danger and flies away.
"Take my fist!" Daniel roars as he leaps out of his hiding spot and punches at the roach. He is confident in his fist as he has mastered the art of striking; he also dabbled in partial training.
He is confident that he can kill such a small creature with just one punch.
SWISH! His eyes widen in shock as the roach easily dodges his punch, even though he meant it to hit.
"Sh*t! It is much faster than expected! Bryan, ready yourself!" He roars before changing his stance and starts throwing fast jabs in order to lead it towards Bryan's hiding spot.
The wind seems to be sliced every time he throws a punch, and no matter how many times Richard sees it, he is still mesmerised by it.
"F*ck! Even an extending left was unable to hit it; as expected of a beast monster, they are truly different from wild beasts.".
Suddenly, time seems to slow down as his eyes flicker in multicoloured light, his heartbeat starts to beat faster, his hand moves, and a loud clap explodes.
The body of the Wind Roach was destroyed by his punch; he was shocked in disbelief. Suddenly, as his body returns to normal, an extreme sense of exhaustion appears in him.
"What?" As this word comes out of his mouth, he slumps to the ground, still in a daze; in fact, not only him, but even Richard was in a state of disbelief; it was so fast that he did not manage to see his punch.
"Holy sh*t! Did you just create a shockwave from your punch?" he asks with a shocked face. Hearing this, Bryan raises his head and sees that his friends are now in a daze.
"What happened? All I heard was a loud clap." He hurried to support his friend; he seemed to have stepped on something, and when he lifted his foot, he saw the body of the wind rooster, or what's a part of it.
"Wait! Is this the target!?" He asks in shock. Richard nods his head, still unable to believe what he had seen.
"Richard, collect the monster shard, Bryan, help me up." As he was helped up, he was pondering about what just happened.
He checked all over his body and did not see any changes. He decided to think about it after they returned home.
His stomach rumbles, startling them. They know for a fact that he does not travel on an empty stomach; it seems that state has some drawbacks.
'Sh*t! I had to eat my rations! 'He inwardly complains as he eats the tasteless jerky he packed for himself, but even after finishing all of his rations and drinking a litter of water, he still feels a sense of hunger.
"You look sick; do we return to the city?" Bryan asks, worried about him.
"No need; we just need to hunt a beast that has meat; even though they are not as abundant as Big Rats and Fast Roaches, there are some wild beasts that would be sufficient enough for me to fill my reserve." Recalling the details written in the books, he decided to bring his group to a certain location.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! The entire ruins start shaking, and as explosions start ringing throughout the area, Daniel realises that something is afoot.
"We need to leave this place!" Unfortunately, he was still too late. The ground rumbles as multiple deranged cows with three horns start running towards them. They seemed panicked, but after seeing them, their expression becomes bloodthirsty.
"Sh*t! Go up to that building!" He roars at the two as he grabs them, and with his entire strength, he throws them towards a broken building. He starts running with all of his.
His heart starts beating rapidly once again, and his figure seems to blitz the cows, causing them to lose their target. Meanwhile, his two friends are now lying in rubble as the impact of the throw hurts them a bit.
SWISH! As an arrow flies towards one of the cows, blood immediately starts seeping out of its neck. It was Bryan; he was pissed off by them.
"Die beasts!" He roars as he starts shooting his mini bow that was created by just thick wood and rubber; it was a makeshift that the three of them created.
MOO! The leader of the cows was a bull that only has two horns but has a size that is comparable to big cars. Seeing the pattern on its forehead, blood drains from the faces of the two.
"A beast monster!" Daniel, who was hiding at a safe distance, sees the appearance of the bull and realises that his two friends are now in danger.
Without hesitation, he picks up a heavy object and throws it to the bull, causing the latter some pain and diverting its attention.
He flashes a middle finger at it and starts grabbing random stuff to throw. Seeing this and being hit by the things thrown, the bull was enraged, and with his lead, the cows charged at him.
"Shoot! Continue shooting!" Richard roars as he lifts one of the stones and throws it to the leaving cows. The two of them are now anxious.
Daniel's mind starts operating at extremes; he checks his surroundings, and his eyes light up after seeing a high-rise building. He jumps, and when his foot lands on the side of the building, he starts running, seemingly able to walk on walls.
BAM! He forcefully bore through a hole in the wall, and as he is now dangling to the side of the building, his face is very pale, as his eyes seem to have eye bags.
Energy seems to have disappeared from his body after such an event. The bull was furious that it was unable to reach him; it moosed and charged at the wall of the old building, and the wall was destroyed.
The building starts to rumble, seemingly on the verge of falling, but after a while, it continues to stand tall but barely.
The bull was furious; the pattern on its forehead started to glow as it's body started growing bigger, becoming the size of a bus.
Daniel cursed inwardly. This is the greatest difference between wild beasts and beast monsters; the latter have a skill that can be activated just like human awakeners, but unlike the human race, they can activate theirs without even reaching Bronze Rank.
BOOM! The building can no longer sustain itself and starts to fall. The cows start panicking; they are going to be affected because they are too close.
Daniel cursed loudly as he saw his body falling together with the building. His expression changed as he took out the rope that he was carrying. His heart started beating rapidly once again, but without energy left in his reserve, his body started shrivelling.
