It was a busy day in the Smith Household, particularly Johnson Smith. He is the newly assigned Director General for the Police force after the former retired. But without even a month passed, a hot potato case came through which required his attention. It was a serial killer.
He was in a call throughout the day and all paperworks spread through the living room table. A complex murder board with intricate lines and details was also set up in a white board.
"Is there really no pattern to this? What about the analysis of the intelligence agencies? We have been in this case for a week and no leads yet?! How else can we go about this?!" - Johnson Smith shouted nearly losing his patience.
"None, Director sir! Age is purely random, no motive, and the places are also not the same! There is simply nothing in common among the victims! The intelligence agencies are also at wit's end." - the man across the phone replied respectfully.
Knock, knock
A gentle knock resounded but Johnson seemed to not hear it as he continued to dial one number after another.
The door opened and a child entered. His eyes quickly trailed across the murder board. Several thoughts swirl around his head. He formed countless theories but rebutted them if found it contradictory to the information. He stared in the murder board seemingly fascinated. His interest was kindled and he was challenged. Ever since he was a child, everything seems like an open book in his eyes, he can solve everything and anything instantaneously but this problem is intricate and he was forced to analyze thoroughly. It was interesting how he can't manage to solve it instantaneously like other problems. And after 3 minutes, a conclusion quickly formed in his head and he smiled so wide. Despite the entirety of the Police Force working together for a whole week, they didn't manage to find something. But Lin solved it in a matter of minutes.
"Interesting"
It was an unfamiliar word to utter as he was bored for all his life. Finally he found something that piques his interest.
