Tepo pressed towards Corian with cold eyes. His opponent was affected by [Roar of the Dragon Spirit], which his armor didn't block.
However, as someone raised by an extremely wealthy family Corian naturally only had the best spells. His passive defense was able to disperse blows whether physical or mental.
Thus, the aristocrat recovered just as a knife stabbed at him from a tricky angle.
"Too slow!"
A graceful rapier moved swiftly, redirecting the knife. The attack missed.
But Tepo didn't give up. He stuck close to Corian, attacking again and again with a mix of spells.
As he got into a certain rhythm, Tepo realized something surprising. Corian could keep up with him physically!
After being bound to Varei my overall strength has increased by a lot. How can Corian match me?!
Is this the foundation of those young masters? Are those bodies formed from the regular consumption of treasures?
However, compared to Tepo, Corian's surprise gradually turned into shock. Ever since young he forged his body through strict training and treasures worth millions.
Whether it was exotic plants from the World of Nurturing Stone or special materials from various dungeons, the Gold family bought them all for their young masters.
But now a random student could match his physic?!
If Tepo only proved similar strength or speed, Corian could still accept it. He would simply win in endurance. But even in this aspect Tepo didn't falter.
As Corian's thoughts moved, Tepo suddenly saw a chance. He noticed his opponent's distraction.
Suddenly a transparent red claw overlapped with Tepo's hand. He delivered a vicious blow to his enemy.
Corian reacted slowly. The large claw crashed into the side of his head.
Not panicking, the aristocrat knew that his armor would stop the attack. But he miscalculated as he felt energy invading his mind.
This claw not only attacked the body but also the soul!
Corian let out a pained groan as he stumbled backwards.
Tepo had already realized earlier that soul attacks were his best bet. He didn't let his enemy get away, directly sending another [Spirit Claw].
Corian trembled. Dizzy, he found it hard to defend, only able to move his body unsteadily.
Claw after claw rained down on the young master.
The audience couldn't believe their eyes as the situation had suddenly changed. Although they didn't know what [Spirit Claw] did exactly, they saw that Corian had difficulties defending himself.
But just as Tepo was pursuing victory, he felt a chill run down his back.
The young warrior hastily flashed backwards, using [Heated Defense] at the same time.
Corian felt a huge chunk of his force activating on his own. His dizzy brain cleared up, helping him to realize that one of his passive spells had triggered. This spell was a special counterattack which arrived by itself after Corian received too many injuries.
Suddenly a bright spot could be seen in the sky. Even with the nine suns as backdrop it was barely discernable.
Before most of the audience could react, the spot fell on the arena rivaling the speed of light.
A blinding spear arrived. The barrier shielding the arena judged it as part of the battle, letting it pass smoothly.
Tepo had just used [Flash] instinctively, but it was useless. The spear had locked onto his position.
"AHH!"
Hit in his chest the young man let out a pained scream. His defense only held for a moment before it crumbled.
Tepo felt a burning pain as a spear of light pierced his chest. His blood boiled, skin turning red and black. The spot on his waist which had been hit earlier was the worst, burning deep into his body.
A strong impact threw Tepo backwards, letting him roll on the ground.
"No!"
"Tepo!"
The audience was shocked by the sudden reversal. Worry in their eyes they looked at Tepo lying on the floor, steam still rising from his chest.
Yerive instinctively jumped up, feeling his own chest burning as well. He wanted to scream, but the words got stuck in his throat. His mouth quivered before he sat down again slowly, a hand patting his back.
Tepo laid on the ground with a shallow breath. Corian needed a moment to stabilize his mind before his sharp eyes focused on his enemy.
"Ha! You little piece of sh*t! Serves you right! Do you like it?!"
Most of the watching students gritted their teeth as they heard Corian's voice. When the aristocrat walked towards Tepo with deliberate steps, many wished they could jump into the arena and beat up the arrogant youth.
But unfortunately, no one could help Tepo right now.
The young man dragged his body up. But Corian wouldn't give him a chance.
With a quick dash the aristocrat was next to his opponent. His foot moved, ready to kick the enemy like a discarded toy.
But at this moment Tepo spat out a word from his mouth:
"B*stard!"
Black blood ran down his lips. At the same time a strange force immediately engulfed the ring. Tepo felt a huge chunk of his force vanishing, leaving him with only a few reserves.
Immediately both combatants' eyes grew vacant. Corian's kick lost its power. The aristocrat stumbled awkwardly, falling on Tepo's body.
The audience was confused by the odd scene as the two young men laid on the ground on top of each other.
Only a few high-ranking warriors vaguely felt something, their eyes turning grim.
Tepo and Corian didn't know what happened outside. The two young men appeared in a vast white expanse.
Corian needed a moment to adapt, before his rage-filled eyes turned towards Tepo's intact body.
"You little…! B*stard! Imbecile! Worm!
You used [Soul Battlefield] against me?! How. Dare. You?!!
This spell should have been mine! I will destroy you for this humiliation! I will find your fam…!"
Finally, Tepo had enough. His eyes shot open as he glared as Corian:
"SHUT UP! Do you think you are something special?!"
Immediately an enormous creature appeared in the air. With red fur and gorgeous large wings, Tepo decided to let Varei's father attack first to probe Corian.
With a loud roar the mighty dragon spirit's presence engulfed the entire area, its huge claw pressing towards Corian like a mountain.
But the aristocrat only sneered:
"This proves that you are too stupid! I have prepared for the [Soul Battlefield] for a long time! I know everything about this spell! This will be your ultimate humiliation!"
As he said this Corian suddenly opened his arms dramatically. Rows and rows of people appeared around him. Each of them had dignified appearances, none of them weaker than a top acolyte in the real world.
Tepo frowned, understanding what was happening.
Corian has observed many high-level figures in reality to borrow their power in the [Soul Battlefield]. This might get tricky…
Of the around three dozen people around Corian, two middle-aged men suddenly stepped forward.
With stern gazes they looked at the incoming attack.
Raising the simple spears in their hands, they suddenly shot into the air, meeting the claw.
The entire area shook. A shockwave spread, engulfing Corian's group.
But in the center a man and a woman suddenly made a move. A light spread, engulfing everyone, offering protection. Meanwhile the man raised his hand, pointing at Corian and shielding him personally.
Tepo felt his stomach sink as he observed the solid teamwork.
What should I do? Can I brute force this? Is it stupid to reveal the Web members?
As Tepo was contemplating his options, he suddenly saw two people separating from the group. Their bodies trailed afterimages as they shot towards Tepo.
The young man did have no time to think, but an idea still came to his mind.
Suddenly two figures appeared next to Tepo, their faces hidden behind a layer of unmoving fog.
Tepo was glad that his idea worked as Quill moved immediately.
With a wave of his hand, swords surrounded the trio.
Right at this moment the enemies arrived. Weapons clashed. The swords moved by themselves to entangle the enemies.
Anvil wasn't idle either. Her long metallic whip covered in thorns slashed through the air.
It elongated suddenly, intending to directly eliminate two of Corian's weaker figures.
"Tzz. You are too naïve!"
With a mocking chuckle, Corian waved his hand.
Suddenly an enormous golden tower appeared below him. It grew into the sky, supporting his group, rays of light spreading in all directions and pushing the whip as well as Varei's father back.
"Hahaha! Look at your face, tiny ant! Do you see this?! Thie is the legendary heirloom of our Gold family. You should feel honored to die below the Tower of Radiance!"
Tepo was indeed shocked for a moment, but immediately his eyes lit up.
I haven't been creative enough!
Suddenly a tower also formed below Tepo. It was engulfed by a red energy barrier.
Two pained screams sounded out. Red bolts of lightning abruptly turned the earlier attackers into ashes.
"Thanks for your teachings!"
Corian could only look at Tepo, speechless.
