I understood something.

When we studied physics in high school on Earth, we learned in a short amount of time the theories that brilliant minds like Newton, Galileo, and Einstein had spent years developing. While conducting research is incredibly difficult, learning already established theories is achievable, even for a high school student.

It's like learning universal gravitation directly from Newton. But being a great researcher doesn't necessarily make you a great teacher, right?

Upon further thought, I realized that since random magic is a cutting-edge discipline with very few qualified instructors, I had no choice but to learn directly from Dr. Wily.

"Open the book to page one."

"Yes~"

I began learning the basics of random magic under Dr. Wily's guidance. Random magic is based on the theory that introducing randomness into a spell can maximize its potential power. While this can produce incredibly powerful results, sometimes the magic takes on properties entirely different from the original spell due to the added randomness. The downside? The spell might also backfire and hit me instead.

Surprisingly, Dr. Wily turned out to be a far better and more engaging teacher than I expected. His lessons really stuck with me, despite his odd behavior. He even had a kind demeanor when working with his horses.

"Kikiki. Do you understand the basic symbols of random magic now?"

"Yes."

"Kuchelhelhel. Then, let's move on to practice. You'll incorporate the random magic symbols into the magic circle you want to cast. But be careful… The more random symbols you add, the higher the unpredictability."

Dr. Wily stood up, placed his hand on the tombstone in the center of the training area, and infused it with mana.

Human-shaped targets began to form as mud from the floor gathered near the front wall.

"Kikiki. The base spell is set to Fire Arrow, but the randomness is applied to its quantity."

I stood in the center, drawing out the random wand I had bought at the Magic Tower.

"Oh, oh! That's a wand I made! You actually bought it!"

"I heard it was made by a professor?"

"Kkkk. It's part of my doctoral research. I bet my advisor sold it under his own name. Screw him."

It seems that graduate school politics are similar in every world.

"I'm using it for the first time today."

"Kekeke. It's a crazy wand that automatically applies randomness to all magic. If you cast random magic with that wand, something wild is bound to happen."

"Is that safe?"

"Hehe. I'm curious too. Just fire it."

This guy… He's using me as a test subject for his own experiments.

I took a deep breath, trusted my luck, and aimed the random wand at one of the human-shaped targets.

Just as I was about to cast the spell...

The door to the training room swung open, and Jazlyn entered with her SS members following behind.

"Oh, has training already started?"

Jazlyn looked at me with curiosity, and Dr. Wily responded.

"Kkeuk… Keuhuh. Yes, Princess Jazlyn. The student Zeon has already grasped the basic theory and is about to start practicing."

Dr. Wily, who had been laughing and behaving erratically just moments ago, suddenly straightened up and became polite in Jazlyn's presence. It was clear he was struggling to suppress his habitual grin.

"I'm curious to see what kind of magic will come out. Go ahead."

With Jazlyn's encouragement, Wily hurriedly urged me forward.

"Kiki… Come on, Zeon. Show the princess what you've learned."

I refocused, pointed the random wand at the human target, and channeled my mana into the wand.

"Fire Arrow with added randomness!"

The red gem at the tip of the wand lit up, radiating a dazzling rainbow light in all directions.

"Oooh! What's this effect?"

Before I could fully process it, a glowing seven-colored orb shot out and flew straight toward Dr. Wily.

Piyuuung.

"Aaaah! Save me!!"

Wily screamed, diving to the floor, but the orb hit him square on the head.

Kwaaaaang!

With a deafening explosion, a blinding light filled the room, engulfing Wily.

"Kyaaaaa!!!"

"My lord! Get behind me!"

"What happened to Wily?"

Chaos erupted as everyone scrambled in panic. Meanwhile, I stood frozen in place, knowing I was utterly screwed.

Oh god… Did I just kill him?

As the light faded, Wily's silhouette came into view, sprawled out on the floor. Thankfully, his head hadn't exploded.

"Uh… Is that Dr. Wily?"

Gopi pointed at Wily, his voice filled with confusion.

Wily's previously bald and graying head was now covered in thick, black hair.

Wily opened his eyes, slowly stood up, and spoke with an unusually serious expression.

"Ah… I feel so refreshed. All those strange voices I used to hear in my head have disappeared."

"Wily! You've grown hair."

"What?"

Wily touched his head, running his fingers through the new hair. Tears filled his eyes as he dropped to his knees.

Tuk.

"Uuuuu… I'm not bald anymore… I'm not bald. This is a miracle."

His emotional cries echoed through the training room.

"Ugh… I've been single for 32 years because of this weird hairstyle… But it's finally over. Wow."

Suddenly, Wily rushed over to me, grabbing my hand with enthusiasm.

"Thank you for helping me grow hair. You're my savior."

"I just cast a random spell…"

"That doesn't matter! You're the one who healed me. Thank you."

"But… Your speech patterns changed too?"

"That's because all the curses affecting me have been lifted."

"A curse?"

"Exactly. While researching random magic, I've accidentally been hit by my own spells multiple times. During my master's degree, I was exposed to strange magic that caused weird side effects to accumulate in my body. That's why I lost my hair and had that bizarre smile. The church couldn't fix it because it wasn't black magic, and no one knew the source."

"I'm glad it's finally gone."

"You're my sworn brother now. Call me Wily hyung from here on."

"Yes! Wily hyung!"

The surrounding SS members murmured, stunned by what they had witnessed.

"Wow… Baldness can only be cured by a saint or the Pope. Incredible!"

"I've been losing hair too. Maybe I should ask him to fix it."

"Hey, it's random magic. There's no guarantee the same thing will happen again."

"Still, curing what even the church couldn't fix? Zeon is truly remarkable."

In this world, baldness can't be cured by regular divine magic or medicine. It's not caused by a curse, poison, or illness. Instead, it's a natural part of someone's genetic makeup. To reverse it, one must alter the body's cells using holy magic. I had no idea how random magic managed to perform such a miracle, but somehow, it worked.

Everyone was praising me.

Jazlyn, with a pleased smile, clapped her hands in approval.

Clap clap.

"Zeon, you're really something."

"Haha, well, something good happened."

"This just makes me trust your luck even more. Dr. Wily, you've done well too."

"Yes, Princess. From now on, I'll teach Zeon with even greater diligence."

"Zeon, try casting more magic. I'm curious to see what else might happen."

I stood in the center again, pointing the random wand at the human target.

"Magic that I can't even predict."

Once again, a rainbow light shot out, and a colorful orb formed, floating aimlessly in the air. The SS members rushed forward, trying to catch it. Even Jazlyn seemed intrigued by what might happen next.

"That one's mine!"

"My hair loss is more important!"

One of the SS members leapt up and caught the orb with his head. A loud explosion followed, and a few seconds later, the SS member touched his scalp and cheered.

"Oooooh! The bald spot on the top of my head is gone! Wait! My indigestion just disappeared too! This is a miracle!"

I pointed the random wand at another human target.

"I'll fire again!"

The SS members surged forward, eagerly shouting.

"Zeon! Fire at me!"

"Please, fire at me next!"

Each time a colorful orb shot from the wand, the SS members did everything they could to catch it.

Kwaaaaang.

"Oooooh! My nose feels clear! My sinusitis is gone!"

Kwaaaaang.

"Wow! I can see perfectly without my glasses!!"

Kwaaaaang.

"Kyaaaaa! All my acne is gone!"

Casting each spell drained a huge amount of mana, and I quickly found myself running on empty. Exhausted, I collapsed onto the ground.

"Pant… I'm out of mana."

"Please, just one more spell!"

"Perform a miracle for me too!!"

As the SS members crowded around me, I felt like a zombie horde was closing in. Panicked, I looked to Jazlyn for help.

Jazlyn, please save me!

Tak.

"Everyone, stop right there!"

Sensing my distress, Jazlyn snapped her fan shut and shouted. The SS members, realizing they'd gone too far, immediately froze in place.

Thank you, Jazlyn!

Jazlyn approached me, accompanied by Kalere and Paris.

Togak.

"Zeon, your streak of miracles seems endless. No… could it be that this is your skill rather than luck?"

"I don't know how to perform miracles. I just poured mana into the random wand, and this magic happened."

"It's truly remarkable. Your value to this continent is immeasurable. Countless powerful people will want to be blessed by your miracles."

"I serve only Jazlyn."

"That's a good mindset. I think it's time you had a proper position. From now on, you are a gold badge."

Jazlyn took out a golden badge engraved with Jazlyn SS and pinned it to my chest.

Roar.

The SS members were visibly surprised, murmuring amongst themselves.

Calere and the other silver badge holders looked at me with approval, as if it was only natural.

Calere beamed with pride, as though she had just received an award herself.

"Zeon, you've earned the gold badge now, just like me."

Gopi smiled broadly, giving me a thumbs-up.

"I knew you could do it."

Only Paris had a dissatisfied look on his face. It had taken Paris years to earn his gold badge, while I had achieved it in less than two months, without any notable accomplishments. Paris felt the situation was unfair and decided to bring it up with Jazlyn.

"Jazlyn, I have something to say."

"What is it?"

Paris flinched slightly at the sharpness in Jazlyn's tone, but he quickly regained his composure and spoke up.

"Jazlyn, it's not right to award Zeon a gold badge. He may have shown great potential, but he hasn't yet done anything significant for you. Gold badges are supposed to be reserved for those who have shown the most loyalty and dedication to you. If you give Zeon a gold badge after less than two months in the SS, the other members will think it's unfair."

Jazlyn's eyes flashed with anger at Paris' challenge, but she held her temper, recognizing that there was some logic in his words.

"Fine. Let's settle this right now. SS members, gather around!"

The SS quickly assembled in front of Jazlyn, awaiting her instructions.

"Anyone who objects to Zeon receiving a gold badge, raise your hand now."

Only Paris raised his hand.

Paris glanced around in disbelief, realizing he stood alone in his objection.
