Chapter 92 - Doubt

Kaguya gently placed Sara to the side, then walked lightly to the central platform, looking down at the semi-circular object in the middle. She could feel an enormous amount of chakra continuously emanating from this semi-circular object, a concentration she had only encountered once before when Naruto went berserk.

Without hesitation, Kaguya extended her crystalline hand and shot a bone spike at the center of the semi-circular sphere.

"All-Killing Ash Bones."

A clear cracking sound echoed as the bone spike hit the semi-circular sphere, creating cracks from which bolts of lightning burst out with crackling sounds. The cracks widened and deepened, and purple light beams shone through the fissures.

Finally, with a dazzling burst of purple light, the semi-circular sphere shattered, and a massive pillar of light shot upwards, dyeing the sky a brilliant purple.

Is this the power of the Dragon Veins?

Staring at the blinding light column, Kaguya felt the immense, terrifying power it contained, so vast it was almost unbelievable. She had never encountered such a massive amount of chakra, not even from the Nine-Tails.

Kaguya knew there was no time to waste; she needed to quickly absorb the Dragon Veins. The commotion here would surely attract others, and if she delayed, she might be interrupted by those arriving.

She raised her arm, channeling chakra to her palm, forming a small greenish dot. Under her control, the dot began to spin slowly, then faster and faster, growing in size.

This was the Tenseigan's chakra absorption ability.

The purple chakra from the Dragon Veins surged as if drawn to the spinning greenish orb, flowing into it in streams, tinting the orb with a rich purple hue.

The enormous, surging chakra from the Dragon Veins poured into the orb like a raging purple dragon, then coursed through Kaguya's meridians and into her body, giving her a feeling of boundless power.

She absorbed it greedily, experiencing an indescribable pleasure. The chakra from the Dragon Veins was like the most delicious food in the world, making her unable to stop.

Finally, Kaguya realized something was wrong. It wasn't so much that she was absorbing the chakra, but rather the chakra was madly flowing into her body, as if she were a magnet for chakra. Alarmed, she tried to stop the Tenseigan's absorption ability, but found she couldn't; everything was out of control.

Kaguya's body was now filled with enormous chakra, the sense of swelling akin to overeating yet continuing to eat. She began to panic, not expecting the chakra to be so overwhelming, pushing the situation beyond her control.

Am I going to be overwhelmed by chakra? How embarrassing would that be?

Moreover, as the chakra flowed in, she felt a strange energy entering her body along with it. This eerie energy exuded an intense coldness, not physical cold but a mental chill, filled with strong negative emotions.

Anxiety, tension, anger, depression, sadness, pain, hatred—these emotions surged towards her like a tide. Kaguya struggled to resist, but it was ineffective. This negative energy was gradually seeping into her mind, threatening to completely overwhelm her.

At that moment, a shadow appeared on the ground, and a figure slowly emerged from it.

This figure, wrapped in two leaves, was pitch black and wearing a large cloak. It was the long-unseen Black Zetsu.

How could Black Zetsu be here?

But Kaguya had no time to be concerned about this. She was at a critical moment of absorbing chakra, with the surging negative emotions like a ferocious beast ready to break free from her control. If she lost control, she might be overwhelmed by these negative emotions, potentially going mad or doing something unpredictable.

Black Zetsu slowly walked up behind Kaguya, his eyes fixed on her, and said slowly, "Mother, I don't understand why you are absorbing this filthy chakra. Don't you remember what you once said?"

Kaguya's heart skipped a beat. This wasn't in the original storyline. Had Kaguya Ōtsutsuki said something before? This was bad.

Feigning nonchalance, Kaguya replied, "I don't remember."

"Is that so?" Black Zetsu's voice was low and hoarse. "I feel like Mother isn't quite the same as before."

"How could that be?" Kaguya forced a laugh, feeling a bit guilty since she wasn't aware of this part of the history.

Black Zetsu slowly walked over, looking her up and down before reaching out to grab her.

Kaguya's eyes narrowed, realizing that Black Zetsu might be suspicious of her. If it came to that, a fight would be inevitable.

As Black Zetsu's hand got closer, a red light flashed in Kaguya's eyes. If he truly threatened her, she would not hesitate to act.

Just as Kaguya thought Black Zetsu was going to attack, she suddenly felt a lightness, and the influx of chakra into her body decreased significantly.

Kaguya turned her head, surprised to see Black Zetsu beside her.

Black Zetsu smiled, revealing his white teeth, and said, "This should help you, Mother."

Kaguya relaxed and breathed a sigh of relief. She had almost acted, feeling a bit embarrassed for misunderstanding him.

"Thank you," Kaguya said softly.

"This is what I should do," Black Zetsu said with an incongruous smile, his squinting eyes resembling crescent moons.

With Black Zetsu's assistance, the speed at which Kaguya absorbed chakra slowed down. Additionally, the influx of negative energy seemed to diminish, though not completely disappearing, making it much easier for Kaguya. She had nearly been overwhelmed by the negative emotions earlier.

"Black Zetsu, you really are a traitor."

As they were focused on absorbing the Dragon Veins' chakra, a low voice suddenly echoed behind them.
