Chapter 76 - Nagato

"You're back." A person emerged from the shadows, wearing a cloak embroidered with red clouds. With orange hair, many black rods inserted into his face, and eyes with purple rings, he was none other than Nagato's Deva Path.

"Yes," Konan nodded lightly.

"I'm tired. I'll go rest first," Kaguya yawned, covering her mouth, and turned to head to her room.

"You spoil her too much," Deva Path said, staring at Kaguya's departing figure with a deep voice.

"It's normal for girls to be a bit willful," Konan said calmly.

"She makes me uneasy," Deva Path said in a low tone. "She's no longer a child."

"I will watch over her carefully," Konan turned and stared at Deva Path, "but before that, I hope you won't disturb her."

"Konan, you're still too soft-hearted," Deva Path said gravely.

"She makes me feel alive," Konan lowered her eyelids, showing a forlorn expression.

"But we are already dead," Deva Path approached Konan and said softly, "This world is dead too. And we are the harbingers of a new era. As such, we must endure this pain."

After speaking, Deva Path did not look at Konan again and turned to leave.

Konan lowered her head and sighed softly, a hint of weariness in her voice.

Kaguya was lying quietly on her bed, staring at the ceiling. To be honest, she didn't like this place. It was too gloomy and uncomfortable. She preferred sunny places over the eerie darkness here.

"Knock, knock, knock," a knocking sound came.

"Come in."

The door opened, and a graceful girl walked in. It was Konan.

"Sister Konan, is there something?" Kaguya sat up, blinking curiously at Konan.

Konan hesitated, then swallowed her words, saying, "Nothing, I just came to call you for dinner."

"That's not it," Kaguya could almost guess from her expression, "That guy must have said something again."

Konan sighed, "Nagato is already displeased with you, especially regarding how you handled the situation with Konoha."

"Let him be displeased," Kaguya raised her eyebrows, snorted, and grabbed Konan's hand, "I don't need him to tell me what to do."

"I know," Konan said, "but I still hope you'll listen to him. He has sacrificed too much for this plan. And if you go too far, he won't always forgive you."

"Got it," Kaguya said somewhat reluctantly. She couldn't argue since Konan was genuinely concerned for her.

At that moment, a distant explosion sounded. Kaguya paused, her eyes darting towards the direction of the noise, peering through the walls to see what was happening.

When she saw who it was, her eyelid twitched, and her face fell. She recognized those people—Naruto, Kakashi, and Yamato.

She instantly regretted telling them about Jiraiya sneaking into the Hidden Rain Village. She knew they would come to rescue Jiraiya, but she had forgotten that Naruto was an idiot.

Naruto had actually brought just two people to launch an attack. Why didn't he bring more people? And why was he attacking so openly?

Kaguya pressed her forehead in frustration, feeling like she wanted to curse.

She stood up, intending to go out and see what was happening. Although she didn't care about the lives of those people, Asura's reincarnation might be useful in the final battle. If he died now, it would be a waste.

"Where are you going?" Konan grabbed her hand.

"I'm going out to take a look," Kaguya's black and white eyes sparkled as she smiled playfully, "Besides, with so many people coming, I'm afraid Nagato won't be able to handle them alone." After speaking, Kaguya tried to walk around Konan to leave.

"No, they can't possibly defeat the Six Paths of Pain," Konan stood in her way and said seriously, "I know what you're thinking. I hope you don't go. If you do, Nagato won't let you off."

"Don't worry, I won't help them," Kaguya clasped her hands together, her watery eyes blinking with a hint of pleading, "I'll just go and look, I won't do anything, okay?"

"No."

While Kaguya and Konan were at an impasse, Nagato had already encountered Naruto and his group.

"Where's Master Jiraiya? Hand him over!" Naruto shouted at Nagato, clenching his fists.

"Naruto, don't be rash," Kakashi grabbed Naruto, feeling that the member of Akatsuki before them was not an easy opponent. From Nagato, he sensed a powerful force, especially those purple eyes, which made Kakashi shudder.

"Master Jiraiya?" Nagato's purple-ringed Rinnegan observed Naruto and said, "I didn't expect he had taken another disciple."

"He calls Master Jiraiya 'teacher'?" Naruto was stunned, looking confused.

"I also learned ninjutsu from Jiraiya," Nagato said calmly, "Jiraiya was once my teacher too. In a way, I am your senior."

"Don't joke around!" Naruto shouted, "Tell me where Master Jiraiya is!"

"Jiraiya did come to the Hidden Rain Village," Nagato said expressionlessly, "but he is not here with me. However, since you've come, I won't be polite."

As soon as Nagato finished speaking, he flashed and charged at Naruto.

"So fast!" Naruto was shocked, his pupils contracting.

In the blink of an eye, Nagato had reached Naruto and extended his hand towards him.

"Shinra Tensei."

A huge force burst from Nagato's hand. Naruto, caught off guard, was about to be hit.

"Earth Style: Earth-Style Wall!" Kakashi quickly formed seals. Three dog-head carved earth walls rose from the ground, blocking in front of Naruto.

With a loud boom, dust and debris flew everywhere. As the dust settled, a few figures emerged.

"What?"

Kakashi's eyes widened in shock. His earth wall had cracks all over, almost collapsing. Although it was only a B-rank jutsu, its defensive power was not weak, capable of withstanding most attacks. But Nagato's technique was so powerful it caused this much damage. Could this be the legendary power of the Rinnegan?

Kakashi's forehead was beaded with sweat.
