After a moment of silence, Nigel, one of the B-rated legacy students, raised his hand, "Yeah, what method did YOU use to survive?" Although it was a little rude in its bluntness, he did ask what they were all thinking. How did someone as small as her manage to beat out 99 other talented students?
She stared into Nigel's eyes before moving her gaze to the rest of them. "My method is not easily replicable by anyone here. My strategy could be summed up using two words: height advantage."
Tiffany, another B-rated legacy, tentatively raised her hand. "What was the initial contract beast you used to complete the exam?"
"My initial contract is a Crystal Albatross." At those words pretty much everyone in the room nodded in understanding. The Crystal Albatross is one of the few Silver-quality flying contracts that could support the weight of a small human, combined with her seemingly light weight and their outstanding stamina, they probably attacked the other applicants from high above so that they could not even fight back.
Attacks at a long enough range to strike down flying attackers are quite common among 3-star beast tamers who typically possess contracts at the level of orange-grade spiritual power. However, most 1-star applicants, regardless of the quality of their contract, will likely only have white or red-grade contracts.
"However, I was lucky that none of the top applicants were in my group. Otherwise, I would have lost"
Everyone looked at her in surprise. Who could cause someone with such a seemingly fool-proof strategy to lose?
"What is the strength of these so-called top applicants?" asked the only A-rated applicant, Arlo, whose expression finally showed some seriousness. Although he was also listening carefully, his expression had always exuded confidence as though he was certain of his passing any admissions test.
"Well for one, many of the applicants likely have already reached 2-stars by the time of the entrance exam in one and a half months." Everyone looked shocked at those words, most of our teachers were only at the level of 2-stars, while our principal only had 3-stars. "My own arena had at least 12 of them, although thankfully most of them were eliminated by others before we met. The one I did meet though was unable to touch me with either of his contracts so that I could whittle away his strength. However, those weren't the true geniuses."
'If that's not considered genius, what is!' Kain could see similar expressions of disbelief on the faces of the other students, including the principal. Although the other 2 graduates did not look surprised, probably having similar experiences.
"One of the arenas with the shortest battle times in my year had an applicant with a Gold-quality Twin-tailed Firefox, moreover both he and his contract had red-grade spiritual power tinged with orange, indicating that they were just a hair's breadth from the 3-star level."
'What a monster'
Gulp
Everyone looked toward the sound to find their very own 3-star principal, who appeared more intimidated than his own students.
"Another arena with a pretty fast resolution had an applicant with an extraordinary gift. He was able to make both he and his contract invisible."
Everyone sucked in a cold breath. Beast-tamers manifesting a gift are extremely rare, and useful ones even more so. However, the ability to become invisible may not be as useful when facing creatures above the yellow-rank in strength. This gift is too overpowered at the level of fresh high school graduates.
"Although gifts are extremely rare among the general populace. At the top 5 colleges that only want the best of the best, nearly half of all students manage to manifest a gift before they graduate college, although not all are useful in battle."
Seeing that there were no more questions, as everyone fell into stunned silence at her shocking revelations, Bridget stepped backwards to allow another former graduate to take her place.
